SO16_Saint Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 So - who will be going on sat? I will be, with a few mates. Should be a good day.
Fan The Flames Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I would love to go, I think the concept is excellent. However I will be doing a sponsored walk across the Downs to help raise money for my mates kid's operation, you can get all sorts of nonsense on the NHS but to help a kid with cerebral palsy walk you have to raise £50k and go to the States. If anyone wants to sponsor me the Just Giving link is below, put SFC on your message so I can show my mate what a great bunch we are. Thanks Matt Grant. http://www.justgiving.com/teamjamesohagan
Wes Tender Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I've got two tickets. It's a great format and there should be some good football to watch, together with some drama if any of the matches end in penalties. Good value too. It should give us some indication of what our preferred team is and where we stand against some quality opposition.
beatlesaint Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 It should give us some indication of what our preferred team is and where we stand against some quality opposition. According to NA on Saintsplayer he is likely to stick with the 2 team formula as per the Swiss games. I would imagine WBA and Yeovil will see things more settled.
View From The Top Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Daughters birthday and family coming up from Soton so the wife has grounded me.
vince Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I'm going to go with my 5yo nipper. Where he goes to school, they do "Chelsea Football" as a lunchtime club, so he's having his allegiances realigned by an 'effin big funfair and as many chips as he wants....
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I'm going to go with my 5yo nipper. Where he goes to school, they do "Chelsea Football" as a lunchtime club, so he's having his allegiances realigned by an 'effin big funfair and as many chips as he wants.... Like your style! Chips or Chelsea? kids love chips! My nipper had the indoctrination from an early age and last season was his first with a ST. from season end until july 1st I got it back in spadefuls, "we are going to get a ST this year aren't we Dad?" That's my boy! We'll be there for Saturday and the WBA games.
SaltashSaint Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I will be there (with the good lady wife and the three kids). We are travelling up from Cornwall and looking forward to it!
CitySaint Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 I'm there, how many tickets have been sold? Hope it is a few, good format, hope for a good crowd. Just happy to get back down Saint Mary's.
Pilchards Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 My son and I hope to go but my daughter refuses to come along which makes it difficult for me.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 My son and I hope to go but my daughter refuses to come along which makes it difficult for me. Considered adoption......by someone else?
lewpylew Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 There are 5 of us going, 3 adults and my 2 children. It will be my 5 year olds first visit so hope she enjoys it! She thinks she gets to meet Rickie Lambert but she'll have to make do with watching from the Kingsland stand!!
ant Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Fully intended to go but was gutted to find that it clashes with a gig that I bought tickets for a while back (which is in London and starts at 7pm). I'd sack it off but it's the band's last Hope it's a good day out though - would be nice to hear that Saints put up a decent fight against strong opposition.
The Cat Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Every summer I get excited about the start of the season and go to a friendly before beconing bored witless after about 20 minutes and wishing I hadn't bothered. So this year I shan't! I'll go to Totton on Wednesday though as I'm interested in seeing how good some of the Academy team are.
hamster Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Going with my Bilbao shirt wearing step-mum in law and half German mate. May get tasty. Have they got guest cerveza and bier laid on anyone know?
um pahars Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Nope, cricket season still in full flow (although if it's a wash out like this weekend, then I might be tempted to pop along).
70's Mike Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 No always find friendlies boring and meaningless, both from our side and opposition Season starts v Leeds
doddisalegend Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Nope my son has got the opportunity to train with fulham football clubs academy coaches so we're heading up to London that day. Shame becuase it sounds like a good day out.
Pedro Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 No, don't like friendlies but can't wait for the first game.
stanthemanfairoak Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 (edited) No always find friendlies boring and meaningless, both from our side and opposition Season starts v Leedsthink it would be more interesting going to the eastleigh scooter rally at eastleigh football club , friendlies BAH! latter day saint Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 i'm going. yes it's a friendly & they can be a bit meh but this is also a chance to remember Markus Liebherr and show our appreciation to the man for saving our club. would be good if the crowd is a decent size, especially if members of his family are attending.
