dronskisaint Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 That puts everything else in to perspective, awful news - sympathy to him and his family and respect for his strength in playing last night. I'm really please he got to dedicate that goal to his son.
Viking Warrior Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 very sad, just goes to show you cannot believe rumours . He was left out becuase he was leaving donny. I bet te donny fans who spouted that rumour are feeling very proud of themselves Knobs
trousers Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 No, common sense prevailed on this occasion. Fair play to the ref on this occassion. I'm sure some jobsworths would have booked him. Extremely sad news. Losing a new born baby is so heart-wrenching.
alpine_saint Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 Poor sod. My condolences to him and his family. Pleased for him that he scored.
Under Weststand Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 Don't quite know how he managed to play last night so soon after what happened to him & his family. But a big hand to him & the Ref for showing common sense in not booking him. Great for him to score like that for his little boy.
sammysaint Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 RIP to his son and fair play to billy for playing, his attidue and his passion as well as his talent is why i would love him here at st marys, i feel now though he may stay at donny till the end of the season after this sad story, seems as though they are showing all the support he deserves at this time in his life.
krissyboy31 Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 Very sad news and fair play for playing and scoring so soon after the event I'm sure some jobsworths would have booked him.I wonder if some jobsworth will punish the ref for using common sense over FIFA rules? Certainly hope not.
dubai_phil Posted 2 November, 2011 Posted 2 November, 2011 "A goal from heaven" was the headline that attracted me to the article and the news. How terribly sad. Total respect to Billy and of course my condolences at such a sad loss. A second article summed it up very well. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/doncaster-rovers/8864374/Doncaster-Rovers-striker-Billy-Sharp-shows-football-still-has-the-power-to-be-a-force-for-good.html Strip away the nonsense and the agents and the leverage deals and the player unrest and petty name calling and football is still, it seems, a sport of the people. And some good people. Like Billy Sharp. Whose boots Carlos Tévez isn't fit to clean.

Gemmel Posted 7 November, 2011 Posted 7 November, 2011 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11734/7297027/Sharp-won-t-close-Town-door Well that's a different tune. I expect to see him in the Red and White stripes come January
skintsaint Posted 8 November, 2011 Posted 8 November, 2011 I dont think we will move for him, isnt Maynards contract up this summer? If anything we would probably move in for him at a cut price deal tbh.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 November, 2011 Posted 9 November, 2011 I assume we matched this clause when we bid for him? http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19515
farawaysaint Posted 10 November, 2011 Posted 10 November, 2011 I assume we matched this clause when we bid for him? http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19515 3.25 million and reportedly yes, that's why he was in talks with us as Doncaster had no desire to see him move on but had to allow him to have talks. Sharp didn't seem in any hurry to move either though.
