Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 unfortunately, it seems it will be QPR but I hope not. Relax, he'll do you proud.... .....For about 6 months......
S-Clarke Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 unfortunately, it seems it will be QPR but I hope not. Good luck with him! He'll be decent for a few months
Flyer Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 He will have no chance if he comes in, he will be replacing Adel Taarabt who got 19 goals and 22 assists last year, the fans will be all over him. Maybe a 6 month loan deal sounds good before Bernies declared not fit and proper and then we get a new owner who will actually spend money.
dune Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 As we're minted we ought to keep him on the books and let him rot. Terrible attitude and deserves all he gets.

Are they really withholding the funds from Warnock? I honestly thought once you got promoted you'd really spend with your backing, but something isn't right there.

Last I heard (Which was a while ago) - they weren't backing Warnock's picks for signings. Was looking forward to seeing how Taarabt got on in the prem TBH.

The Cat Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 In the squad for us against Totton tonight He's in the starting XI.

S-Clarke Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 From football-rumours....(but it backs up what someone said on here the other day) Southampton are apparently on the verge of cancelling Jason Puncheon's contract as his behavior while in exile with the youth squad has been atrocious, culminating yesterday with an incident where members of the youth team had to pull him off of academy manager Matt Crocker after a training ground bust up. I know a member of the academy coaching staff who witnessed the incident.
SaintNeil90 Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 I say ban him from training or coming near the club but refuse to cancel his contract!
Nexstar Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 I say ban him from training or coming near the club but refuse to cancel his contract! Getting paid around £10k a week to do absolutely nothing? Is that not the dream?
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Getting paid around £10k a week to do absolutely nothing? Is that not the dream? Let him get fat and useless. And ensure he cannot strengthen a rival.
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 great signing pards The back end of the 09/10 season seems so long ago now.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 I say ban him from training or coming near the club but refuse to cancel his contract! ...... and impose a club fine so humungous that Roman Abramovich would struggle to pay it.
View From The Top Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 ...... and impose a club fine so humungous that Roman Abramovich would struggle to pay it. PFA agreements mean the max' fine a player can have is 2 weeks wages.

The Cat Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 He's doing ok tonight. Working hard, encouraging the other players. Just applauded a wayward pass towards him.

The Cat Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 I'm here. Half time. In the bar, riddles, ipa and becks veir on tap.

jimmysaint7 Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Anyone else think that with chamberlain going puncheon may now see a chance to make the first team again?
S-Clarke Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Anyone else think that with chamberlain going puncheon may now see a chance to make the first team again? Nope, he will never play for us again. Never. And Chambo hasn't gone yet, and I don't think he will.
Saint Garrett Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Anyone else think that with chamberlain going puncheon may now see a chance to make the first team again? No. Not in a million years
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Anyone else think that with chamberlain going puncheon may now see a chance to make the first team again? Considering he hasn't even been given a squad number..... Unlikely.
The Cat Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Pretty much everyone has been subbed now except him.
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Pretty much everyone has been subbed now except him. How has he been this half?
The Cat Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Alright, didn't stop trying or look disinterested at any point. Gone off now.
benjii Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Puncheon's attitude on the pitch has always been first class. He is a very hard worker and always takes responsibility. Off the pitch he may be a *** - I have no idea.
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Puncheon's attitude on the pitch has always been first class. He is a very hard worker and always takes responsibility. To start with maybe. I remember the sulky bugger at the start of last season as being the issue.
benjii Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 To start with maybe. I remember the sulky bugger at the start of last season as being the issue. You remember wrongly. He had a torid time with his finishing but his attitude and workrate were still top.
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 You remember wrongly. He had a torid time with his finishing but his attitude and workrate were still top. Maybe, emotion can cloud the memory. Not just his finishing but decision making was awful, i'm sure of it. Yet I still remember him having a rather good game against Blackpool, was good to see what he could actually do.
Chez Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 To start with maybe. I remember the sulky bugger at the start of last season as being the issue. Which game(s)?
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Which game(s)? That's just it. It's an emotional impression I have, sadly I lack an eidetic memory. Yet my instinctive thoughts of Puncheon bring me back to dead end runs, poor shots and selfishness rather then team play.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 Well I got to say, although the opposition was only Totton tonight he looked a class act, was unselfish, worked hard and gave full support to his young colleagues. All our dangerous moves originating through him.

If anyone was to blame for us being **** it was Lambert who was absolutely woeful and carried till Xmas.
Colinjb Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 If anyone was to blame for us being **** it was Lambert who was absolutely woeful and carried till Xmas. Blame right now doesn't matter, it's in the past, if any errors were made though the buck needed to stop with the manager... which it did. It was obvious Lambert was unfit at that point though, thankfully everything worked out well last season.

All our dangerous moves originating through him. he is a very good player, certainly good enough to top half championship side - if only!
egg Posted 20 July, 2011 Posted 20 July, 2011 If anyone was to blame for us being **** it was Lambert who was absolutely woeful and carried till Xmas. Yep, but the fans got on puncheon's back and destroyed his confidence. Old, well trodden ground I know but it's hardly surprising that he might see his future elsewhere. If NA thinks that he has a future here get him back into the fold and on the charm offensive with the fans. If not, get him out of the place sharpish Personally, I would give him a chance. I find it surprising that he would have played tonight (ahead of players who are Part of our Future) if he is being moved on.
Leslie Charteris Posted 20 July, 2011 Author Posted 20 July, 2011 I find it surprising that he would have played tonight (ahead of players who are Part of our Future) if he is being moved on. Likewise. This whole thing doesn't make sense. If he has a seriously bad attitude and has caused problems, then why was he playing tonight? I think the most likely reason is, as another posted has said, to impress scouts. Or could it be so that he knows who's the boss and he will get a squad number if no club comes in with a good enough offer? Time will tell.

Could be a case of other clubs not taking a chance on him, if he's not at least had some form of pre-season. Particularly if we're trying to max out the fee we want for him.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 . . . . . I find it surprising that he would have played tonight (ahead of players who are Part of our Future) if he is being moved on. Maybe some club contacted NA and asked to run the rule over JP? I'm sure that NA would have given the lad a chance to shine?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Who else impressed you FF? Harlee Dean looked solid, Stephens looked classy and we had two young blond haired wingers one who was called Ben (the other was Hoskins) who looked bright but like Doble couldn't finish.

All our dangerous moves originating through him. Not surprising given that he did well playing the best in the land a few months ago.......... I think it's a real shame that we never got to see the best of Punch but there ya go, some players are just like that

Isgrove was number 11. Hoskins is the one I didn't know. I thought Doble's link up play was good, but of the few times I've seen him play he doesn't look like scoring.
