georgeweahscousin Posted 12 July, 2011 Share Posted 12 July, 2011 How bad was it last year? As much to blame as some people were quick to point out? Will it be better this year? Our we just slow starters? http://georgeweahscousin.com/2011/07/12/swiss-roll-or-mountain-to-climb-for-saints/

Itchen_block4 Posted 12 July, 2011 Share Posted 12 July, 2011 Too heavy fitness training makes the players tired and their muscles fatigued. A good pre-season needs the right balance of work and rest. Too much work and the players come out flagging. Not enough work and they come back out of shape and looking like they haven't kicked a ball all summer.

Saint J 77 Posted 13 July, 2011 Share Posted 13 July, 2011 There's not much to talk about at the moment is there. No this is true but I think it would be interesting to know how different this seasons pre season is to last years. What are the player doing that they did last year and what aren't they doing? Hopefully not jumping off that bridge again that's for sure
Alejam Posted 13 July, 2011 Share Posted 13 July, 2011 was'nt the weather baking hot as well last year? I seem to remember the players being exhausted with the amount of training they were doing in 30+ degrees. The weather now is about 20, and will be all week. Far too much technical sports science in this for me, well above my head, but I'm sure the training staff will appreciate the advice.
Super_Uwe Posted 13 July, 2011 Share Posted 13 July, 2011 Hmm...pop a note in your diary to check the league table precisely 3 months from today (by my reckoning that'll be Thursday 13th October. You will find your answer in the table....
Chez Posted 13 July, 2011 Share Posted 13 July, 2011 a few players got injuries and they were all blamed on Pardew's methods. Obviously if a few players get injured this time round it will just be bad luck.
benjii Posted 13 July, 2011 Share Posted 13 July, 2011 I think it's fair to say that naked hangliding with Wally Downes won't be on the menu this year.
