I'm looking into having an online shop in the not too distant future and wondering if I would manage to figure it out myself if I put enough effort and research into it. I'm not bad at all on computers so sure I could figure it out. Just need pointing in the right direction I think. Any advise?
Crab Lungs Posted 12 July, 2011 Posted 12 July, 2011 If it's an online shop with quite a few products, I would recommend a CMS (Wordpress etc) e-commerce website.... would probably need to know a bit more about your specs before I make any more recommendations though!

Your best bet is to buy a hosting plan with http://www.simpleservers.co.uk/magento_hosting.php Install magento using their menu system then buy a magento book from amazon.
zanehed Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Zen Cart is fine, some of the options such as payment and postage will drive you mad, but loads of help out there. I use 1and1 to host, you get a database to run Zen on and a couple of domain names. People will probably have other/better suggestions. Try a free host if you can put up with the ads
