stkev7 Posted 14 July, 2011 Share Posted 14 July, 2011 If you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to get in every week as a non member? Did your mates ring in advance to say you were coming, or did the door staff just turn a blind eye? It always felt to me like a "If your face fits" kind of place, full of regulars who probably never paid a penny to join but had no problem getting in. A couple of times a mate would ring and get me signed in. Then they said they had too many signed in so I'd blag it in or use one of my mates' membership cards to get in. The blokes on the door usually look at me suspiciously every time I went in as I'd only go there between October and November and again in April each season. Daren W Posted 14 July, 2011 Share Posted 14 July, 2011 Your point is prefectly valid though. To say "you can't go elsewhere" is basically to say you have some sort of pathological problem that prevents you from not buying a Saints ticket. Well, that's your problem; not the club's. That's not what people are saying, they're saying there is a pathological problem that stops people from supporting another team. Supporting a football club is different to shopping cheaper. You can change Tesco's for Aldis but you can't change your football team.
Colinjb Posted 14 July, 2011 Share Posted 14 July, 2011 You can change Tesco's for Aldis but you can't change your football team. My father grew up a Charlton Athletic fan. Now he is a season ticket holder at Saints. It does happen.
Fan The Flames Posted 15 July, 2011 Share Posted 15 July, 2011 The bar sounds like excellent value I may sign up this season.
LostBoys Posted 15 July, 2011 Share Posted 15 July, 2011 If you arrive early and cannot have a drink because you are driving it is a good place to sit and have a reasonable meal and watch the lunchtime game on Sky. It took me some years to get the membership due to the wait list and I only think I got in because a lot of members delayed to see if we were going bust. I am not happy about the hike for the family and I miss the quiz even though I was crap at it anyway because I cannot watch Sky Sports news all week but I will not be giving it up.
