I heard there was guards on the gate to the car park wearing nazi uniforms saying 'Your papers please' and if they are in order your allowed to go to the ticket office and collect your season ticket. If they are not in order you are taken away for questioning.

Are you a ****?

They don't have your date of birth.

Blimey, I was only trying to help. If that's your attitude, I hope you don't get a ticket, you seem a little aggressive. And why haven't you got a birth certificate, you freak.

As this is obviuosly a renewal, and if not asking for concessions, you should be on the database etc. and ID should not be required.

I went down and got STs for my son (U11) and myself on the day they went on sale. They photocopied my son's birth certificate.

Yesterday I decided to order our WBA tickets over the phone. At the other end of the line 'John' was mumbling so I asked him to speak up. The line went dead. Make of that what you will.

Second attempt. This time a young lady, with a wheezy voice answered. I asked for tickets for my son and I. She asked for my name and address and then I offered my Customer number. She told me it would be £15 plus the admin. I told her it wouldn't be and proceeded to quote the OS to her. She went away and after a minute or so came back and agreed. However, they would need to see proof of age as I was claiming a concession. I told her it would not be needed as they already had it. Again she went away to check, returning a minute or so later to confirm what I had said.

Three things come to mind.

1. Is it not easy to put an indication on the PC screen telling them that my son is entitled to a concession? Let's suggest a tick box named 'Proof of age confirmed'.

2. Are the club paid a portion of the telephone charge I incur, thus encouraging the telesales operators to prolong calls?

3. If I get any more of this crap, Monday when I call for ML Cup tickets, I will then always call in for tickets. At least I can then waste their time, if I get fed up with them, by calling the office manager over for a discussion!

I just fax/post them in. Seems to me that the people who deal with that actually have to read something so will have half a brain.

Yes you only need Id for a concession. I was required to provide photo ID for my 5 year and 9 year (who was buying an under 17s ticket as his sister gets the free under 11 ticket) old even though they were stood with me at the ticket office and we already have season tickets.........

I can only assume that even though your children were with you, who is to say in the clubs eyes that they will be the ones trying to get in with those tickets on a match day (i am in no way saying that this isn't the case with you). This begs the question how will the stewards know if someone is using a concession ticket when entering on a match day. Will concession tickets be a completely different colour so as to alert them at the turnstile to pay more attention to the person trying to enter with such a ticket?

The trying to get people in on concession tickets is not a new thing I'm sure, but I didn't require any ID last season. I mean no one ever checks the matchday voucher you hand over at games matches with the season ticket stub in your booklet so I could see people trying it on (not me though). I just thought as season ticket holders they'd have our details from last time, being asked to produce ID seemed over the top, no biggie just irritating really.
