disconnect Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Great stuff, great player - looking forward to watching him easily coast past players as he was doing for Burnley!
saints-cris Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chambo, Cork, Morgan, Lallana Not a bad young midfield eh!
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chambo, Cork, Morgan, Lallana Not a bad young midfield eh! It's pretty mouthwatering tbh! If we can keep that together it could compete in the premiership if/when we get there.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 What he offers the team, every touch of the ball... in the Premier League vs Aston Villa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdMhFjcjGO8 in the Championship vs Hull City http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNvOJ3Kqd6c&feature=related
Faz Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I think we're one striker short of an exceptional first 11.
CitySaint Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Does any one know how much the 'undisclosed' fee is likely to be? Great signing.
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Does any one know how much the 'undisclosed' fee is likely to be? Great signing. Probably around £1m
EBS1980 Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chelsea havent even bothered to announce his departure on their site yet
toofarnorth Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Does any one know how much the 'undisclosed' fee is likely to be? Great signing. Rumours are around a million
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chelsea havent even bothered to announce his departure on their site yet Which would explain why Sky haven't twigged on it yet.
Village Saint Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I can't help thinking that only a manager of Adkins stature could have pulled this off - indeed Cork himself confirms that having Adkins as manager was a heavy influence.
saintmatt Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chambo, Cork, Morgan, Lallana Not a bad young midfield eh! Good, but not as good as: Chambo, Cork, Deano, Lallana
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Chelsea havent even bothered to announce his departure on their site yet http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2388425,00.html?
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 He seems to get forward alot more these days from watching those videos and seems to overall look a superb player and vastly improved since his last spell with us.
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 He seems to get forward alot more these days from watching those videos and seems to overall look a superb player and vastly improved since his last spell with us. IMO he's a premier league level player, so this is a massive coup for us.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Excellent stuff but announced a bit early for me. I normally don't get out of bed until 11.23pm.
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Just been on SSN According to the dopey presenter, we are still in League 1 and pushing for the Championship. Pillock.
saintmatt Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2388425,00.html? "The 22-year-old spent the entirety of last season at Burnley, where he scored three times in 46 appearances, despite suffering from a heart complaint late in the season." Pardon?
saintmatt Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 OS says he's 23, I thought he was 21?! Chelsea website says 22!

Neil Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Brilliant news and a quality signing. Just hope that's not the last one...
pap Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Delighted with this signing. Young, English and quality. Could become a Saints legend.
NickG Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 This signing says a great deal about saints and where we are going. We haven't signed players like CMS who - imho - peaked last season in league 1, Danns who is never going to be top prem player, etc etc but have signed a very good player now, performing to top level in this division - who could easily get better and better by the team he peaks - he is has the potential to grow with us to mid premiership (the 'ambitious' signings we missed out on would not have that potential)
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Some Burnley fans views if anyone is intersted: Dont think ive ever been as gutted for us missing out on a player. Brilliant signing for Southampton. Cant praise him enough like i said in loads of our games last season. Southampton dont need me telling them what he'll add to the side you've had him before. Id like to think the two seasons he spent with us though did bring him on as a player. first class attitude and workrate. good luck Jack Eddie Howe will be miffed about missing out.,ah well it happens. Have to look elsewhere. Cork is a superb player at breaking forward. we didnt give him the freedom to do that anywhere near enough. One of the times he did scored our goal of the season away to Preston. Picked it up just inside his own half , spread the ball outwide carried on running and scored a cracking header at the back post to give us a 2-1 win None of the other players we have offer the same as he did
the stain Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Good,at long last. Tell me about it. If I'm honest, I'm a bit disappointed that we've only managed to sign 1 player in the 6 days since the transfer window opened.
hypochondriac Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Good signing very pleased about it. I hope we now get the pacey striker and cb we need to do really well this year.
John Cool Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 OS says he's 23, I thought he was 21?! "If you ain't got Sky, you ain't got Jack" was a strapline advertising "24"
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I like that a lot. Can I for just two seconds dream about these four staying with us till they all retire. OK, back to reality, what a great signing. Very happy with this, I hope he keeps improving and shines over the next few years. Mouth watering isn't it? Cork and Morgan can both pick a defence unlocking pass with pace and trickery out wide, and Chaplow in reserve to do his all action bit!! Incidentally, the whole squad can't be in Leicestershire at the moment because I saw Chaplow crossing the slip road from the M3 onto Winnall Roundabout at about 6 ish... not sure why he's still here... and risking life and limb like that ;o)
bpsaint Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Cracking signing that, well chuffed to have him back here. Should shut a few of the resident mongs up too.
verlaine1979 Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Brilliant signing. Schneiderlin & Cork should be an excellent combination.
SNSUN Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Just been on SSN According to the dopey presenter, we are still in League 1 and pushing for the Championship. Pillock. It's ok, the 20 places of the Premier League are all they really care about.
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Our midfield and wide options are excellent. Hammond, Cork, Chaplow, Morgan, Holmes, Lallana, Chambo, Forte & Guly can play there too.
NickG Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 forgot that its Howe missing out! But he's got a sad face on!
Charlie Wayman Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 The best news ever. Great signing. I guess what swayed it for him is the proximity to London, he doesn't need to move house an can still enjoy the West End Scene. Let's keep them all fit and we'll knock a few off their perches. Where 'though does Mr Hammond fit in now?
1976_Child Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 He had six months with us three years ago. Is he any good? Seriously, he might turn out to be another Pullis.
Charlie Wayman Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Our midfield and wide options are excellent. Hammond, Cork, Chaplow, Morgan, Holmes, Lallana, Chambo, Forte & Guly can play there too. Yeah but we can play Guly off Lambert before Connors comes on later especially if Barnard misses a few...
S-Clarke Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 He had six months with us three years ago. Is he any good? Seriously, he might turn out to be another Pullis. I guess you're being sarcastic.
1976_Child Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Our midfield and wide options are excellent. Hammond, Cork, Chaplow, Morgan, Holmes, Lallana, Chambo, Forte & Guly can play there too. I'll bet you the price of an ST that Chambo is not with us come the window closing
NickG Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I'll bet you the price of an ST that Chambo is not with us come the window closing reckon good chance he will still be here, better than 50/50
Fan The Flames Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 He must be sh#t hes 23 but plays for the under 21's.
sotonian Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 It's not on the official site or sky sports anymore, hope there is not a problem
