The article reads:

Saints stars José Fonte, Rickie Lambert, and Adam Lallana believe the 2011/12 home strip will impress supporters.

The players caught a glimpse of the new shirt before heading off for pre season, and gave some interesting clues away on the designs for the kit which is now available to pre-order in store, over the phone, and online.

"It's a really impressive design which will stand out amongst others," Fonte revealed. "It's another quality kit which I think will be popular amongst the players and supporters alike.

"It looks good too. It's comfortable, and I look forward to pulling it on before walking out on to the pitch."

Lambert said: "This will definitely appeal to all fans. It's smart, and I'm sure that no-one will be disappointed with the way that it looks.

"I can't wait to wear it in front of thousands of fans in the Championship both home and away. It's another exciting thing to look forward to this season."

Lallana commented: "I'm pleased to have another Umbro design as they are also worn by the England team, so it shows that we have the best available in the country right now."

"I've been told that loads of fans have already pre ordered the new shirt and I'm sure that it will be flying off the shelves once it's been revealed on 20th July."

Stars in stripes? Like the England flags in the England shirt, is that a clue.

Let the analysis begin!

You're about 30 pages late with the kit analysis / speculation "beginning"... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?29337-Speculation-about-new-kit&p=1082593#post1082593

There will be no star, and nothing in that article remotely hints at it.

The only clue in that article is that pre-sales have been crap, because Lallana has only been "told" they are great, i.e. it's a blatantly lie which if queried can be put down to a misunderstanding of what someone else said.

I think it wont be the bog standard red and white stripes thats for sure.

There will be a twist on it in some way i think.

I am almost certain that it WILL be bog standard stripes, the only twist possibly being that the stripes might be made up of thinner stripes, and that's just speculation on my part.

Regardless of what it looks like, I don't know why the club don't just get on and reveal it/get it on sale already, instead of being such fags about it. People are either going to like it or dislike it, then they will either buy it or not buy it.

Do they think all this mystery and build up will increase sales? Maybe it will and I am missing something? Personally if I like it I will buy it, simple as that.

Not having a go at Adam Lallana (am sure he's just told to get on with the promo work), but when you read quotes like "I'm pleased to have another Umbro design as they are also worn by the England team, so it shows that we have the best available in the country right now.", you have to chuckle!

Football shirts do however always fly off the shelves. Despite people moaning about it costing £40, the quality being poor, blah blah blah, they always sell.

All part of the "customer" experience of course :@)

Thats what I'd guess they were hinting at. I'd guess the Red bands are made up of thin Red stripes i.e. a bit like the US flag. Just a guess - probably completely wrong.

if anyone believes the players actually said those quotes they must be nuts, that was written by a marketing man like writing a cartoon narrative, Fonte "oh look isn't this lovely, the fans will love it, i can't wait to wear it"

The stars bit must be a massive clue. I'm assuming it'll look something like this. I've already ordered 5.

I love it, and it's a great way to get 307 million more Saints fans from across the pond. I think we'll need a bigger stadium though...
