Doctoroncall Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 It happened this morning, rescue under way... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/07/fc-twente-stadium
benjii Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Oh dear! Good job this didn't happen when the stadium was full.
Micky Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I think it happened as the stadium was undergoing some sort of contstruction / upgrading. Looks like the whole of the stand roof callapsed: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Football-Stadium-Collapses-Trapping-People-In-Wreckage-In-Netherlands-Roof-Of-FC-Twente-Caves-In/Article/201107116025986?lpos=World_News_First_Home_Article_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_16025986_Football_Stadium_Collapses_Trapping_People_In_Wreckage_In_Netherlands%2C_Roof_Of_FC_Twente_Caves_In
Al de Man Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 Pretty horrifying sight. Oh dear! Good job this didn't happen when the stadium was full. It probably only collapsed because they were working on it at the time rather than a "natural" failure.
OttawaSaint Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 I hope the boysssh under the colapshhh are good fine...
Gorgiesaint Posted 7 July, 2011 Posted 7 July, 2011 One person has been killed according to one of the Dutch newspapers I read this afternoon, one initial report (still to be confirmed) was that a crane hitting the roof structure was the cause. Some of the photo's do show a crane very close, but again just initial speculation.
