Crazy Diamond Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Bit of a random question, but anyone live in the area or have spent some time there? I'm considering a job at the BBC over there. It's only part time but a year's fixed contract so I'm going to have to think it over quite carefully. Any feedback on the place would be great. Was offered a job in Ledbury which was very nice but a bit remote for me.
bridge too far Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Spent a happy week on holiday near Ledbury a couple of years ago. House prices seems lower than here (and, I suppose, rents too). Very pretty and lots of good places to visit on your days off. Good for cider!
Huntingdon Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 I lived in Ludlow for 3 years, so just over the border in Shropshire It's a beautiful part of the country, very rural with lots of quaint villages and Malvern Hills & Cotswolds not far away They can be a little insular, but not unpleasantly so, you'll be made welcome I'd recommend it
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Hereford is very famous for it's cows and Worcestershire is very famous for it's sauce. Apart from that I know nothing but I hope this has been of some assistance to you in your decision making process.
Mao Cap Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 I've been to Worcester quite a few times, as I've got a mate who moved there with his girlfriend for work. Nice enough area but I've never taken to the locals on my visits TBH, kind of an unfriendly bunch ("almost Welsh" as my cheerfully racist Mum calls them). Still, it's probably different when you live there.
Crazy Diamond Posted 6 July, 2011 Author Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Cheers guys. It's a difficult one, I don't have the money to relocate and commuting is out of the question, but it is a 12 month contract (two days a week) and the experience would be invaluable. I'm keen to work somewhere a bit busier - ideally London, so Hereford and Worcestershire is a tad different!
timebomb Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 I live in Droitwich and have to say it depends where you are going to work. I used to go back down south twice a week to see my kids but I was able to arrange my work so I was closer to Southampton. It does make life easier for away games though.
