bridge too far Posted 5 July, 2011 Author Posted 5 July, 2011 No it doesn't. At least the women's team wins matches.
Colinjb Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 has to be the most feeble sporting event ever Oh I don't know. Women's bowls is almost as boring.
Thedelldays Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 No it doesn't. At least the women's team wins matches. it is...even the refereeing is horrific...
hypochondriac Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 No it doesn't. At least the women's team wins matches. Nobody wins. Everyone is ultimately the loser for participating in the first place.
The Cat Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 I've watched the majority of 2 of England's games. They were awful in the first match against Mexico but much better today. There are some decent players in the women's game and England have a few of them. I do find it very frustrating to watch due to the wild inconsistency in the quality of the players in the team and the frankly awful and naive decisions that are made when in possession. Mind you a lot of them are only part time players so it's fairly forgivable. Still, none of the play is quite as bad as the standard of refereeing which is at times both farcical and ludicrous.
Leicestersaint Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 it is...even the refereeing is horrific... And of course the refereeing in men's football is terrific. It is nice to see an England football team doing well for once - it's a shame the hopeless, over-blown, over-paid, half-wit men's team can't emulate them! Good luck to them and good luck to England
saint lard Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 Will be watching the quarter final against france. Maybe one English side can hold their heads up high...certainly does not apply to the U21's and the full national side.
saint lard Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 The French number 14 is bloody gorgeous. I knew there was a reason to watch. C'mon England.
the stain Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 What I've noticed about women's football is that they are all of a good standard, except for the goalkeepers. They are very poor.
JackFrost Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 1-0. Jill Scott. 30 mins left. Not a bad strike either
Trader Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 What I've noticed about women's football is that they are all of a good standard, except for the goalkeepers. They are very poor. To be fair I think the England goalkeeper is our best player.
the stain Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 Off the line! This is like watching the men's team.
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 I wonder if our women's team is any better at penalty shoot-outs than the men....
revolution saint Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 I wonder if our women's team is any better at penalty shoot-outs than the men.... soon find out.....and to be fair it couldn't be worse.
bridge too far Posted 9 July, 2011 Author Posted 9 July, 2011 I wonder if our women's team is any better at penalty shoot-outs than the men.... So far - yes
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 So far - yes You had to go and say that didn't you!
JackFrost Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 Well I must say they were very unlucky. Wonderful goal from the French just minutes from the end and it all goes wrong on the penalties. You gotta give the England ladies a lot of credit though. Also very refreshing to see an England football team putting in a lot of effort.
SuperMikey Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 The quality of women's football is awful...don't mean to sound sexist but there are non-league teams that play far better than most of the international teams in this WC.

I just couldn't get into it - and I really tried. Is it worth cracking a poor joke about "getting into" Louisa Necib of France?
Hatch Posted 9 July, 2011 Posted 9 July, 2011 I just couldn't get into it - and I really tried. Is it worth cracking a poor joke about "getting into" Louisa Necib of France? soon as i saw her, I googled her, not all that tbf. Left disappointed.
Rut Posted 10 July, 2011 Posted 10 July, 2011 I'd not watched any of it until I started watching the 2nd half of today's USA v Brazil game. What a cracking game. Dodgy decisions, red card, re-taken pens, injury time equaliser & a brilliant penalty shoot-out. The most memorable thing was a piece of play-acting by some Brazilian bird. It was perhaps the worst case of 'gamesmanship' that I have ever seen. So bad it was funny.
Dark Munster Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Piss poor penalties by the US. Almost as bad as the English (men's) team, (and Brazil today).
Kingsland Codger Posted 17 July, 2011 Posted 17 July, 2011 Good (sometimes great) possession football by the Japanese - a real joy to watch; but some dreadful finishing by the Americans. The game was theirs for the taking but they missed some really good chances. Fair play to the Japanese who were dogged in their defence, never gave up and were worthy champions.
