NickG Posted 4 July, 2011 Share Posted 4 July, 2011 http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Blues-Back-To-Work-2294.aspx? look at the photos of the players returning for their pre-season training. Hilarious, most than have in pic is 4 together! Our squad must seem bloated in comparison!
benjii Posted 4 July, 2011 Share Posted 4 July, 2011 There are quite a few funny things in that article but I was tickled by the use of the phrase "grassy areas". It's called a "pitch" Steve, a "pitch".
NickG Posted 4 July, 2011 Author Share Posted 4 July, 2011 thought that funny as well - excited about some new grass seed! a report on them: It was back to work for Pompey’s stars following their summer break. But five-a-sides were definitely not part of proceedings. Just eight players were present for the start of full pre-season training. Not even enough to be able to hold the traditional five-on-five match action. Still, at least recruits David Norris and Jason Pearce were present. They were joined by Ricardo Rocha, Aaron Mokoena, Joel Ward, Dave Kitson, Hayden Mullins and Jamie Ashdown.
S-Clarke Posted 4 July, 2011 Share Posted 4 July, 2011 Looking at their squad makes you wonder WTF some of our lot are so worried about. We're in july and they cannot field a starting 11 - now that's something to get panicky about.

So they have: 1GK 4 defenders 2 midfielders 1 striker + Lawrence + Kanu Where's Hreidarsson - has he retired?

He's out of contract....they've offered him new terms, but he's stalling apparently.

S-Clarke Posted 4 July, 2011 Share Posted 4 July, 2011 I think another ageing defender is just what they need. He's a pretty solid player, but at LB he'd get skinned by most (including our own chambo hopefully!). They seriously need at least 10 players don't they? to even be competitive...? crazy. Image this scene. You are driving your gypsie cart and low and behold a pheasant runs into your path. You hit the pheasant but its still alive but what to do? Do you kill it? Of course not. You leave it in the road because its much more fun watching as slow and painful death. At the moment your football club is a pheasant flapping around in the road and we're all stood around watching
Pugwash Posted 4 July, 2011 Share Posted 4 July, 2011 I was doing 85 when I hit a pheasant. After it went under the car, I looked in my rear view mirror to see a 40-ton lorry squash it. Is that not the moral you're looking for?
hutch Posted 5 July, 2011 Share Posted 5 July, 2011 I've spent the past few years thinking that the term "Blue Phew" was a reference to their supporters. Silly me.
