Ello..

Hoping one of you legends can help me out. I've made a VERY (very very) basic website for my old man and his new taxi buisness (it should be noted that I am not a web designer, I do work in IT though).

The URL is as follows http://www.congs.co.uk

So that is the website, its just an add really to get things moving.

I've submitted the URL to all the obvious search engines so that they can "crawl" it and add it to their search indexes. This was probably about 3 weeks ago and it hasn't turned up yet. How would I go about driving more / relevant traffic to the site? I've looked at google adwords and it just seems expensive and confusing, but we are willing to go down that route if necessary. Ive signed up for google analytics too.

So have any of you got any ideas? All ideas welcome! :)

Thanks.

It does take time for websites to become indexed... have you checked the keywords you've used on the keywords tool? I can possibly help you, but Baj would definitely be the expert here.

And with adwords, it's best to check how much you'd likely pay for your words. I wouldn't advise going to adwords route without the supervision of someone and a budget as you could lose quite a bit. Then again, you can cap your daily spend but you also want it to be effective.

If you want it to rank organically, that would likely take time, depending on your competition, SEO and so forth. As I said, Baj might be able to advise you better...

Try and find a voucher for Adwords, I got a £75 voucher when I first started which lasted a couple of months, since then I've added £100 of which I have about £15 left. I get a fair bit of work through my website, probably around £1000~ a month although it's obviously hard to work out wether through adwords or just organic searches.

I've just recently set my daily limit a lot lower than before as I'm so busy and to be honest I've not really noticed any dip which leads me to think PPC might be a waste of money. Getting the SEO stuff sorted properly is a priority. Cant go wrong if you get a free voucher though and the good thing about Adwords is they don't ever take money out of your account, you transfer money from your account into the adwords account and set a daily limit and once that's used up your ads get pulled until you add more money

I have just cancelled my adwords. It has become very expensive for the words i require. My website has become more important as time goes on but the cost of Adwords to what it gains is becoming inbalanced. Be careful of SEO companies, a lot don't deliver what they promise.

Johnny. To be blunt, pretty much everything that you could do wrong in terms of seo you are doing wrong :) Email me on hscbaj@hotmail.com and ill talk you through a few things offline.

Andy and Nick. The reason PPC is so expensive for you is because the onpage content isnt optimised, therefor google deems it to be less relevent to the keywords you are trying to advertise on, therefore the cost is higher as punishment

Cheers for the replies guys :) All useful info! I am a total noobie to the world of web and search engines and such. Feels odd since I've spent my entire life staring at a computer screen doing one thing or another. I've always said I prefer computers when they aren't turned off or doing anything particularly complicated!

I'll drop you an email later tonight or tomorrow baj mate
