dune Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Whilst looking for a colonial styled beige jacket this afternoon I took influence from one I remember seeing Rupert in and that got me thinking... For all his faults Rupert certainly knew how to dress to impress. I've not really seen enough of Nicola to say whether he beats, equals or falls short of Ruperts style. So I thought i'd start a thread on here to compare them. Please feel free to contribute with photos and opinions.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Rupert's dress sense extended to his well maintained shadow...
martel Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 He wore that overcoat on cold days from the day he took over, in my opinion you cannot beat a dark blue crombie.
JackFrost Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 who cares? its how they run the club. please no, as a heart wrenching plea to all of the forum members please let's not begin yet another debate on how Lowe ran the club. Let's keep this related to suits only. As for the debate about suits, personally I couldn't give a damn
dune Posted 4 July, 2011 Author Posted 4 July, 2011 is this really worth a forum topic??? Get a grip.
Beachcombers Windowsill Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 You've gotta admit, the guy's got style.
shurlock Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Rupes = soiled tweed, Paul Smith without the irony. beats NC hands-down.
once_bitterne Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Italian suits v. Countryside wear. It's a difficult one. I think Rupes could carry off tweed far better than Nicola.
Block 5 Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 NC is Italian and oozes style. Duck-fecker has the style sense of a young farmer at the local conservative association annual ball - it wouldn't surprise me if Tory Boy was knocking one out over Roops right now.
The9 Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 This thread had better have a bloody good picture of Lowe's olive green jacket, pink shirt and beige trousers combo from Farnborough pre-season a few years back or I'll be furious.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Irrelevent as this thread is (given Lowe is history and bad history at that), I would have to say NC wins hands down.
Paul Chuckle Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 I always admired Lowes outfit in this video http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/football_focus/1253147.stm scroll down to Lowe article and watch video
supergoose Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Both guys know their style but personally I'd plump for a beige tanktop with horizon blue stay-pressed action slacks everytime.
dune Posted 4 July, 2011 Author Posted 4 July, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_nHy2oQOAQ 3.35 mins. I like his style.
Willo Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_nHy2oQOAQ 3.35 mins. I like his style. wow - this is one of the most amazing videos i've seen in ages. Amazing in many ways - some of the fashion, some of the budget style of reporting, the embarrassing collection of fans singing Souness songs, Simon Charlton, and to be fair, some pretty good questions asked towards Rupes during the final interview. thanks for sharing the video
Gemmel Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 I'm afraid there is no contest, as i have posted before. Mr lowe has invested in a pair of these Which he wears on a cord and then pops them apart every 5 minutes or so and lets them dangle down. You can lock the thread now.
JRM Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 wow - this is one of the most amazing videos i've seen in ages. Amazing in many ways - some of the fashion, some of the budget style of reporting, the embarrassing collection of fans singing Souness songs, Simon Charlton, and to be fair, some pretty good questions asked towards Rupes during the final interview. thanks for sharing the video Absolute brilliant video!!!! Great memories of that era, got to laugh at Simon charlton worried other players wouldn't know souness had left so they'd have to wait a couple of days for English papers on holiday!! Fans in the car park hilarious, they seemed embarrassed at how shlt their demo / singing was. Graffiti on Milton road, Lowe admitting he knew nothing about football, but comes across quite well at the end
dune Posted 4 July, 2011 Author Posted 4 July, 2011 Here's part One. I recognise quite a few faces. lol at the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxVME_uSZzk
JRM Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Have you not been to Milan? Wealthy Italians are big fans of the rural English gent look for casual look, barbour sells well
beatlesaint Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 I always thought Lowe was scruffy around the neck...so Cortese wins everytime :-)
Badger Posted 4 July, 2011 Posted 4 July, 2011 Have you not been to Milan? A question that can only be balanced by asking " have you been to Cheltenham on Gold Cup Day, a good Cotswold Hunt, or Henley for the rowing regatta ?".
paulwantsapint Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 Both lose out to Markus just because he looked right in his red & White scarf
Hatch Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 Got to go for Lowe. I think most people could match an Italian for style given the right budget, but to pull off the country gent style takes class that just can not be bought. Also, does anyone have any info on the choice of shoes, maybe NC could be the winner in this one. Italian Leather >> Wellies.
Saint in Paradise Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 Lowe V Cortese - Who was the best dressed chairman? Well as Mr C is still the chairman there can only be one answer Mr Lowe. Now if you had asked if a previous chairman or the current chairman was the best dressed I would say Mr C.
Crab Lungs Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 This thread had better have a bloody good picture of Lowe's olive green jacket, pink shirt and beige trousers combo from Farnborough pre-season a few years back or I'll be furious. That was a beauty!
Thedelldays Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 Here's part One. I recognise quite a few faces. lol at the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxVME_uSZzk I wonder if they all boycotted cardiff in 2003..???
broncoboy Posted 5 July, 2011 Posted 5 July, 2011 I would have liked to see Rupert in a concrete overoat
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 The Don raises the bar! Ahahaha! ****. He looks like he's gonna kill someone. In other news, Lowe brought Barbour back into fashion for the masses.
The9 Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Please tell me that's not the cover of the Programme ?
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Please tell me that's not the cover of the Programme ? Can't tell you that I'm afraid! (It is the cover...not a bad programme this year though tbf)
The9 Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Can't tell you that I'm afraid! (It is the cover...not a bad programme this year though tbf) You are kidding me ? Please tell me you're joking ? Can you imagine the reaction there would have been on here if Lowe had ever done anything like this ?
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 You are kidding me ? Please tell me you're joking ? Can you imagine the reaction there would have been on here if Lowe had ever done anything like this ? I'm not kidding you! What's above is the front cover of the programme, but yeah, it's a bit too much! Although I think it's the first time since he's been in charge that we've had a 'chairmans'' notes feature.
The9 Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 I'm not kidding you! What's above is the front cover of the programme, but yeah, it's a bit too much! Although I think it's the first time since he's been in charge that we've had a 'chairmans'' notes feature. Out. Of. Control.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Considering a lot slate him for not keeping the fans posted, a chairman's notes feature will be good. Even if to do that, he uses a bit of self-promotion by sticking himself on the front of one programme.
dune Posted 5 August, 2011 Author Posted 5 August, 2011 The Don raises the bar! His head looks to big for his body. I can't wait for the statue. Also can you imagine the furore if Rupert had put himself of the front page of the programme.
Minty Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Oh come on The9, don't join the overreaction club, I thought you were better than that. ;-)
trousers Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 I have a coat similar to that Nice to see you on here again Rupert :-)
the colonel Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Nice to see you on here again Rupert :-) Glad you missed me old chap. My new coat has a Prince of Wales check in it as well.
