Barry the Badger Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 So how long did you think the seats would be reserved for? What if the club reserved thousands of seats until 5th August and not all were renewed? It has to end early, thus that is why every club including Saints under Cortese in 2009/10 always does so. I don't think anybody is suggesting that the seats should be reserved for any longer, rather that it would perhaps be fairer if the renewal price was for all renewals not just those taken in a 2 week period.
Wes Tender Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 why? What do you mean why? It isn't far for me from West End and I went there reasonably early, hoping to get the seat next to mine, which had not been taken by its former holder by midday yesterday. Having gone there, I could have gone back home having seen the queue and spent one and a half hours or more apparently on the phone, but until you are actually in the queue, it is hard to gauge how fast it was moving. My son is not an existing ST holder, whereas I am.
haddock22 Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 will northam be likely to sell out at all ? wanted to head down next week but don't want to miss out on tickets there.
ant Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 will northam be likely to sell out at all ? wanted to head down next week but don't want to miss out on tickets there. Unless sales continue at the same rate they were going were this morning (highly, highly unlikely) I'd be stunned if the Northam sells out. The club would need to palm off a lot more than last season as there was always gaps in the stand on matchday.
Wes Tender Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 will northam be likely to sell out at all ? wanted to head down next week but don't want to miss out on tickets there. Most of the seats in the Northam have been taken by ST holders, or at least most of the seats from halfway up block 42. I didn't have a look at the lower down seats on the screen, but there were only a few isolated singles in block 42 top half according to their booking screen.

The9 Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 I'd be surprised if the Northam sells out given that the Chapel is now cheaper and there are still free kids' tickets in there. As far as STs go, I think only Blocks 40/41/42 are for ST sales in the Northam due to the need to use 43 for away fans or segregation occasionally.
Wes Tender Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Yes, there are the other blocks in the Northam towards the Kingsland corner. But once 42 is sold out, then those wishing to be in the Northam then go into the other blocks. Yes, ID is only really needed as proof for concessions, as proof of age or disability.
Saint Mikey Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Anyone else heard the rumours that Cortese has been employing actors to stand in the queue, just to put people off queuing to get a Season Ticket?
trousers Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Anyone else heard the rumours that Cortese has been employing actors to stand in the queue, just to put people off queuing to get a Season Ticket? Yup. Thought everyone knew that?
revolution saint Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Anyone else heard the rumours that Cortese has been employing actors to stand in the queue, just to put people off queuing to get a Season Ticket? You may have a point, pretty sure I saw that Dr Who fella - David someone or other yesterday queuing up for a ticket. I bet that sodding Tardis didn't pay for parking either.
The Kraken Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 So how long did you think the seats would be reserved for? What if the club reserved thousands of seats until 5th August and not all were renewed? It has to end early, thus that is why every club including Saints under Cortese in 2009/10 always does so. OK, back again, and unsurprisingly you've managed to miss my point again. But I'll answer your question anyway. I would expect the club to reserve seats up until July 15th because, as stated by the club: Season Ticket renewals open from Friday 1st July with priority given to existing season ticket holders until Thursday 14th July before new sales begin on Friday 15th July So priority is given to renewals up until 15th July, from when you can buy new tickets. For a minute, just understand what I'm actually saying and see if you disagree with it. My original point on this was that this offer is only detailed on the club's official website, and I suggested that the wording on the OS is not completely clear. And while (if I was choosing to renew) I probably would have assumed the renewal period would end after 14th July, there is aboslutely NOTHING in the club's wording that confirms that; so I'm not surprised to hear that someone has fallen foul of it. Now is that such an unrealistic statement to make? That the terms and conditions could have been made clearer? It's either that, or you believe that the terms and conditions as laid out are perfectly fine and give 100% of detail without the customer having to make any assumptions of their own. The9 has a differing point of view to me on some aspects of this but can at least accept that the wording is "ambigious".
thegaffer Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Yep.Stood next to Fat Pat from Eastenders and Mr Bean.Anyone else heard the rumours that Cortese has been employing actors to stand in the queue, just to put people off queuing to get a Season Ticket?
Barry the Badger Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 Yep.Stood next to Fat Pat from Eastenders and Mr Bean. Mr Bean was an actor? I thought that was a documentary.
NickG Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 added one for nipper today, on hold for about 10 mins and go seat wanted. Guy said they were selling faster than they had anticipated.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 15 July, 2011 Posted 15 July, 2011 anyone willing to buy me a season ticket? don't mind where i sit tbh.
saintedwill Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Anyone else heard the rumours that Cortese has been employing actors to stand in the queue, just to put people off queuing to get a Season Ticket? It's true. I tripped over 12 goblins on the way to getting mine. You can tell there's no work for 'em now Harry Potter's done and dusted
saintedwill Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 The 60-65 price hike does stink, if I was hit with a £300 rise I would tell them to go poke it out of principle. My Dad's mate has had a season ticket for over 30 years and he's not going to go any more and I don't blame him. If he's had a season ticket for 30 years he should be used to paying for it!! We are football club, not a charity. Thank you Mrs Thatcher
stanthemanfairoak Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 I got down there for half 7 this morning and waited about 90 minutes to be served, the queue was at least a couple of hours after we'd left. I got the specific seat I wanted next to my mates too so happy days. THREE AND A HALF HOURS QUEUEIN saints could not organise a miss up in a brewery.
benjii Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Shame it's ****ing it down if you're queing. Bloody Cortese and his bad weather.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 3 and a half hour queues for new STs, looks pretty good then......well not if you're in the queue in the rain I suppose but for overall sales.
haddock22 Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Queued for about 2 hours yesterday....2 new ticks block 42, row V ...sorted! Was good they had a ticket system for the queue so could sit down on the wall instead of standing.
benjii Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 I think I will go down next Saturday morning, or failing that, will phone up in the week after. Don't really fancy queing for hours for no obvious reason!
Farnboro Saint Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Looking for a bit of advice please people, im really torn as to where in the ground i should get my ST... When i was younger i used to love it in the Northam, but over the past couple of years ive been switching between the Kingsland stand (centre) and the Kingsland / Northam corner - always find its quite a good atmosphere there, with the added bonus of being able to sit down if you have had a few too many beers. However, this year am i right in thinking the Itchen corner has been opened back up? I remember a few years ago looking across from the Kingsland and thinking it looked pretty decent over by the away fans, bit of singing, bit of banter with the other stands and away fans. Can anybody advise if im correct in thinking this? And also if people are buying ST's there? My thinking is, sitting right next to the away fans, looking out across a packed Kingsland stand would be pretty decent. Also, its one extra number for the 'tv side' so people actually start to recognise we have a near full ground when on TV and not just sitting at home, looking at the empty corporate seats, thinking 'they cant fill their ground'. Comments and suggestions would be most welcome...
Farnboro Saint Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Ah, i see...there goes that plan then. Got my hopes up from the black wing section on the stadium pic below.. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2384523,00.html
saintscottofthenortham Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 The Itchen corner is still closed. Are you definate on that? I was told by Ticket Oriface that it is being re-opened.
Saints foreva Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Are you definate on that? I was told by Ticket Oriface that it is being re-opened. I asked the question when the season ticket details were first released, the club wrote back saying that it was closed for season ticket's as it has been for a while but will be reopened for games that require the demand. Anyway, looks like we've got another raffle booklet! Shame, I was hoping the club were going to introduce a swiping system (like Cortese said at one of those fan dinners...)
sfc4prem Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 I reckon that the Itchen Corner will be reopened soon based on the increased demand we'll see when Saints start winning for fun.
Miffy Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 I think I will go down next Saturday morning, or failing that, will phone up in the week after. Don't really fancy queing for hours for no obvious reason! Picked up 2 new STs today from the Box Office, No queue, although a steady flow of people kept all the windows busy.
Mr Dad Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 I collected my ST plus 10 and 12 year old sons at approx 1.30pm today. All 3 were renewals so I had already paid. There was a short queue but I managed to get in/out of car park before the 15 minute free parking limit. It was close as my watch was showing 15 minutes and we had to run back to car. They took photocopies of my son's passports. Are they allowed to do that?

Comments and suggestions would be most welcome... I'm in Block 36 and have to say it's a good position. Most games people stand up from 37 round into the Northam so you get all the atmosphere without having to do the stand up sit down thing if the stewards come around. There's not a great deal of season ticket holders in our block either which will give you ample opportunity to get an aisle seat which in my opinion is a luxury well worth having. If Blocks 1-3 were open I'd definitely move over that side because the atmosphere and banter with the away fans is much better than in the Northam, otherwise 36 is pretty good.
exit2 Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 They took photocopies of my son's passports. Are they allowed to do that? I called the ICO (information commisioners office) on Thursday, after they took a photo copy of my sons birth certificate? I was told that if it was for age verification only then there is no need to take a copy of an offical document and that I should ask for it to be destroyed. I have written to the club and am awating an answer

70's Mike Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 in that case, you will always have to go through proving his age every year I guess Why? They have seen proof of his DOB surely they will be updating Data Base and not relying on photo copies
Thedelldays Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Why? They have seen proof of his DOB surely they will be updating Data Base and not relying on photo copies yep....tell that to the cinema etc..tell that to the post office everytime I go and pick up a parcel......it seems to be the way it is...
aintforever Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 It's pathetic taking copies of birth certificates, also pointless because the cunning will just get a ticket under a friends name and use theirs. Same goes for the 60-65's, just buy it under the name of an older mate.
exit2 Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 in that case, you will always have to go through proving his age every year I guess So you telling me that on his record that is on the system they cant put his correct date of birth, and then tick a box to verified?

I have written to the club and am awating an answer It's sad that things have come to this, but the club have a shortfall in those paying for tickets and the actual crowd. They cannot force you to hand over copies of documentation and you can't force them to sell you a season ticket, however strange that seems. My concern would be who has access to those official copies and the safeguards to ensure they went no further. It does seem heavy handed and out of touch for what are considered fans, but when you see the lengths that fans will go to not pay. It does grate that we have to go through these hoops and the worst is thought of our intentions. The trouble is that several have those intentions and they find it difficult to distinguish between the two.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 Unless the stewards are going to ask for ID on the turnstiles for every game, it is a futile act to do so when the ticket is purchased.

As I have said in my communication to the club, I appreciate the fact that there are people that abuse the system, but once the ticket office employee had seen the identification she could have simply entered the date of birth on the database and that would have been sufficient. There is no need for them to keep a copy, and after being told "its ok they will be locked up in a big box" the whole things becomes a joke.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 after being told "its ok they will be locked up in a big box" the whole things becomes a joke. Did you talk to the ticket office manger? I would have if someone said something so ridiculous to me. This method doesn't stop people cheating the system. The only way they can do that is to have ID checks on the turnstiles, which will never happen.

They were quite helpful and said I had a genuine complaint but in the first instance should contact the club and try and resolve it which I have done.

This method doesn't stop people cheating the system. The only way they can do that is to have ID checks on the turnstiles, which will never happen. Just recording the name and DOB should be good enough. To me this may well be if they intend to take action over those they find abusing the system, leaving little case and expense to prove at a court of law. Looking at things that way we don't get the total intrusion and extensive data collection, but you do have something cast iron should you want to take action. There will be a reason!
Thedelldays Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 does it matter.....we hand over details daily at times without batting an eye lid....mortgage, bank, car insurance, holiday complanies...etc etc
Mr Dad Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 exit2 - I am going to do the same. There is so much identity fraud these days. Why should we hand over birth certificate copies to an organization which has no published procedures for handling such documents? Anyway, perhaps we are straying slightly off topic for a football forum and I am looking forward to the forthcoming season. Nevertheless, our beloved football club should still respect data protection act/privacy etc. I'll PM you exit2 when I get a reply.
south Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 with a 22K capacity an the obligation to offer visiting teams 10% ish of the tickets it means that for most matches non ST holders won't get a look in,hence the rush to buy them.Like us at the Dell in the 90s really. Well a major factor has been the pricing. Mine (for instance) has gone down £100 from Withdean and I pay it off over a year with absolutely no penalty. It's also a very very good stadium.
Give it to Ron Posted 16 July, 2011 Posted 16 July, 2011 does it matter.....we hand over details daily at times without batting an eye lid....mortgage, bank, car insurance, holiday complanies...etc etc Yes it does matter...ok not to someone like you that it doesn't affect. I have had my lad enrolled in Junior Saints since he was 2. He has been a ST now for 3 years so been on their database for 12 years with his DOB and received gifts, birthday cards etc. So why because the club has now decided that customer service is a swear word should they take photo copies of his birth certificate? One day soon the club will do something like this that affects you and its starting to happen to different people now...I will remind you that you should just bend over and take everything the club wants regardless.
