Season Ticket Sales

With all the complaints on here and in the press re:

No renewal letter or email encouraging continued support for the club

No early bird incentive

Large price increase

Loss of concession 60-65 (that's me!)

No half season tickets

Installment plan difficulties

I wonder if it's possible that we will end up with fewer ST holders than last year?

I'm not convinced the attraction of championship will bring in many newbies or bring back some of the strays.

Last season the club came in for a fair bit of criticism for their marketing approach, and many predicted sales would be extremely low. They weren't. Can't see the situation is any different this year to be fair. i think the club are continuing with their policy of "if you want a season ticket we'll sell you one, but we're not going massively out of our way to promote them". Not saying I necessarily agree with that approach, but sales figures last year seemed to stack up fairly well despite the minimal promotion so there's not really any evidence to argue for or against it either way.

4 of us renewing and at least 2 new STs joining us.

HTH.

Perhaps you can go and grind your axe at the ironmongers as opposed to here?

Tad harsh as I have no axe to grind with anyone

I have been a regular at Dell/SMS since 1963 and have renewed my ST

I was just opening a debate to see if people thought the adverse publicity (mumerous threads on here) would affect the sales against the feel good factor of promotion.

Delighted to see posts about new ST holders and nobody would be happier than me to see the ground full and rocking!

My Dad and I have ST's, will probably renew tomorrow.

Will need to check my Dad's date of birth though, I'm not 100% sure but I think he may be 64, so now an adult again rather than an OAP.

I don't remember giving them his DOB when I got the tickets 1st time round, so are they likely to ask me to prove his age, or will they believe me if I say he is now 65?

Anyone had problems doing this?

They certainly did not get me to prove his age last time.

Can I renew oline and avoid all the hassle?

This would be a very quiet board if we were only allowed to debate things the once!

Weren't a pop at your thread as such mate, as its asking a slightly different question - we will sell more season tickets than last year for lots of obvious reasons - promotion, playing the Skates among others. Could the club have sold more tickets? In my opinion they definitely could, but it's impossible to ever actually "know" either way.

Okay and I agree with you that with a different attitude they could have sold more which dissapoints me. If we are top six at Xmas we will be getting plenty of walk ups, bottom six and struggling will be a different scenario and it will be ST & the fathful few like 3/4 seasons ago and it's depressing to see SMS half full.

Not convinced many would buy ST just to ensure a seat for skates among others.

Given that they've demanded a 72% increase and given that I can apply online but then need to phone before they will actually send it to me, I really should tell them to stuff it, however, I will be renewing !

I will not 'cut off my nose ro spite my face' but sincerely believe that some of the recent decisions have been badly thought out and extremely poorly communicated !!

Some of these issues will survive whilst we are on the way up but no doubt will resurface big time if we start to falter !

I'm expecting numbers to be roughly the same. Some will not renew as they can't afford to do so, some will not renew because last season they were free under-8s season tickets that weren't actually used by under-8s (I suspect this is the reason they're being so proficient regarding checking ID for concession tickets this time around), and there will be a number of new ST holders.

Still a bit baffled as to why the whole process has taken so long, but "meh" really, from a selfish point of view it helped me out as I didn't have to find a lump sum at the same time as forking out for loads of away games in the last six weeks of the season.

Renewed my 2 tickets this today, only gripe is I need to go back for general sale to claim a free new u11 seat (fingers crossed the seat next to the ones bought today is still avail, otherwise will have to move all 3 seats to somewhere together!).

Queued for 15-20 minutes on Saturday, (on the way back from the tip), and renewed my 3. Dad will be doing his today & my sons mate will be doing his next Saturday (well his Mum will). I've been told by a mate, (who is co-incidentally a mate of the 2 who sit in front of us) that they are renewing. So that's our little group of 7 all reunited again.

I renewed on saturday. I got an email reminding me; AS IF A SEASON TICKET HOLDER NEEDS REMINDING?!?!?!?!!!!?!?!? and although i do feel sorry for the oap concession age being raised to 65, the club introduced 'students' to the concession rates and it doesnt have an age limit. When i renewed, a guy infront of me who was clearly in his 60's was renewing as a student.

A friend of mine at work is on a course and gets a student card which he will use as a concession ticket. He is 35.

At the mo i reckon we will top 20k.

With a couple of good signings maybe even 21-22k

We should be looking near towards the 28k mark given our potential and catchment area. Any less will be a massive disapointment.

If you do find yourself in the 60-65 bracket, here's a tip:

Go to your local college and enrol on a course. Then go to the NUS office and pick up a card. Then go back up to the enrolment office and cancel your course and get your money back.

You now have your concession rate back again for 15 mins effort (if you can be bothered)
