Loved him.

Always get a little wistful thinking back on his career here.

Has any other single player had such a lasting impact with so few games for us?

Insurance requirements, bought is career with Saints to an end.

He was offered the operation, but didn't want it.

Whilst most Saints fans loved Ronnie, I think you would have needed to be a player in his team to understand what he really bought to the party.

Such a shame, it could have been so different.

Loved him - anyone got any further links of him playing - seem to rememeber the Saints vs Everton 2-0 win at the Dell with Ronnie scoring after about 5 minutes was online at one point

Good article written by my friend Mark there.

Such a pity he was injured. Loved his style of play. So classy and comfortable on the ball which, Matty aside, was quite rare for Saints at that time.

I remember that game at Coventry really well. He was an excellent passer & creative player that made us great to watch. He & Matt basically took the **** out of Cov - all game.

Ekelund was a joy to watch with Le Tissier, i remember at the time being a liitle bewildered at what was going on but Matt's recollection is of course spot on. Such a shame it wasn't for longer.

That goal at Coventry was perhaps the most sublime team goal ever scored by Saints. Had it been scored by Liverpool it would have been replayed constantly on TV. Yet ask most Saints fans and strangely it doesn't ever seem to feature in their top 10 goals. What made that day great is that we came from behind to play Coventry off the pitch in a game when our keeper was allegedly looking for a different result.
