Dimond Geezer Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2385163,00.html I don't know what they sell, apart fron Southampton Ale
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 July, 2011 Author Posted 1 July, 2011 oops http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?30882-New-beer-SMS
niceandfriendly Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Carling (oh god), Grolsch and Magners. It's on that link.
The Kraken Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Out with the old, in with the old. Carling is not really any improvement on Carlsberg. Hopefully they'll do Grolsch in 500ml bottles.
Sour Mash Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Grolsch is definitely an improvement, although I'm not sure how much they'll charge for it, as it seems to always fall into the "Premium" category in pubs. Southampton Ale sounds good as well, even for the novelty value alone.
benjii Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Saints Ale. Blimey. That will probably sell well even if it is ****e.
Sour Mash Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Although scrolled to the bottom of that article on the OS to see the Carlsberg logo as one of our Partners still!
dune Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 So long as it's not one of those revolting sweet real ales.
Colinjb Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Saints 'Ale.' I wonder if that's being made in Alton..... seeing as it's only a kegging plant.... maybe.
scott_saints Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Funny how everyone moans about Carling, yet I'm sure it will be the most popularly sold drink next season.
Lighthouse Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Funny how everyone moans about Carling, yet I'm sure it will be the most popularly sold drink next season. You have to pretend not to drink Carling, Carlsberg, Heineken, Budweiser, 1664, Fosters etc. because it makes you look well 'ard. You really haven't got the hang of this internet lark.
Tamesaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 So long as it's not one of those revolting sweet real ales. So long as it is one of those lovely real ales.
eelpie Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Lord help us. No real ales there. Lightweight Canadian style lager specialists. Cortese out!

You really haven't got the hang of this internet lark. Have you ever met anyone who said ' I'd love a pint of Carling right now'? Its a miracle they are still in business. I'll admit to 1664 being one of favorites back in the day - before my liver decided it couldn't process all the sh!t that was in it.

You really haven't got the hang of this internet lark. Strange list. Heineken is a very nice lager (the old 3% stuff was pish), 1664 also pretty decent. Bud will do if there's nothing better but is a bit bland and American. Carling, Carlsberg and Fosters are atrocious lagers; nothing to do with acting well 'ard, just being in posession of working taste buds.
Saint_Jonny Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 I'd be willing to put money on the fact that 85% + of the people that go to SMS on a matchday aren't real ale drinkers, and would prefer a pint of lager - regardless of its quality. They are stocking some sort of "ale" next season, so stop ****ing moaning.

Please state the amount and I will PM you my banking details for payment.
explorer saint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Its a revitalised Horndean Special Brew now that would wind up our fishy friends and not a bad pint
ericofarabia Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2385163,00.html I don't know what they sell, apart fron Southampton Ale LOL ... you lot are slow - The Molson - Coors wiki page hasn't been updated to show that he is a new centre forward from argentina and signed a 59 year contract Southampton Ale - Official club crest on bottle?
paulwantsapint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 can see the ale selling well to start with as loads of lager drinkers try it just to say they have but depending on grolsch & magners cost &/or drink size carling will sell the best
ericofarabia Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Its a revitalised Horndean Special Brew now that would wind up our fishy friends and not a bad pint If it's anything like the old school Gales HSB - I'm in big time - probably won't remember many games though - 5.2% back in the day!!
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 July, 2011 Author Posted 1 July, 2011 If it's anything like the old school Gales HSB - I'm in big time - probably won't remember many games though - 5.2% back in the day!! That brings back memories, well sort of fuzzy ones anyway.
skintsaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 yay Grolsch...shame I'm not there to drink it till xmas.
John Boy Saint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Hope the Southampton Ale is better than the dishwater they passed as bitter the last few years, unfortunately I take no pleasure in drinking "English" lager so don't buy it.
brmbrm Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 So long as it is one of those lovely real ales. Going by their track record it wont be, so dont get excited. And stock up your belly before entering the stadium.....
chivvy1664 Posted 2 July, 2011 Posted 2 July, 2011 (edited) coors own Doom bar but the saints ale will be hancocks cheap and not great . Good move for coors as they have a captive audience who will drink what ever is there. Carling grolsch arent that popular in comaparison to foster and 1664 in the south. Carling is a midlands beer. Edited 2 July, 2011 by chivvy1664 error
eurosaint Posted 2 July, 2011 Posted 2 July, 2011 Is it only me that thinks the term " Official Pouring Rights Partner " is a bit pretentious ?? No doubt that in time they will be know as the OPRP ! All very new world I suppose, but couldn't they just say "our new beer supplier is" ??
suntouched Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 I see the o/s still had Carlsberg as the Official Partner??!!
Prince Jazzbo Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 I dont know why anyone ever bothers drinking beer in the ground. I've tasted better beverages in an Amsterdam swingers club!
DJ_TOAST Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Does anyone actually buy the Singha at £4 a bottle ?
Deano6 Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 the beer in Hospitality is LETHAL! I haven't heard of that one, is it any good?
Ozkeith2 Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 If it's anything like the old school Gales HSB - I'm in big time - probably won't remember many games though - 5.2% back in the day!! Jeez Eric , that brings back some hazy memories ....

They are stocking some sort of "ale" next season, so stop ****ing moaning. Its really difficult to stock real ale in a function bar which only open for a few hours every two weeks. After being delivered it needs to settle for a few days and then needs to be drunk within a week after that. You cant guess exactly how much people will drink each game so you will either end up overstocking and throwing the stuff away or running out some matchdays. Thats why most temporary bars serve lager, Guiness and crappy keg bitter - its hermetically sealed and pasteurised so lasts much longer.
pingwing Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 I had Singha against Watford, tastes better from a plastic bottle than Carling (then again that does taste like death warmed up) £4 felt far but for one beer at half time (something needed to calm the nerves) it seemed a better option over all
The Cat Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 I've stopped drinking at half time this season. The lager is either horrible or way too expensive and Saints Ale is just dull.
SO16_Saint Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I haven't heard of that one, is it any good? Yes, there's 2 choices on tap. They re fill the glass when you get to just under half a pint!
Turkish Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I must say I'm disapointed. In the bar I use in the Kingsland North they still only serve magners and carling. I'm no great fan of either and half time is a big let down at the moment, I look forward to a good drink at half time to refresh the lungs for some more vocal jousting with the away fans and really getting behind our boys to sing them onto victory. The lack of options and slow service leave me feeling somewhat deflated after half time after so many promises of a better standard of beer. If only we had a fan on the board to address this.

The trick is to get there first I always leave my seat 5 minutes after kick off so I'm always the front of the beer line. I like to take my time so I'm always back late for the second half. As I always leave early to avoid the traffic I now like to leave when I've finish my beer about 5mins into the second half. Cracking day at the footie and no queues to boot.

Rather miss out on a beer and queue to leave the ground than miss a Saints goal.

You get served immediately, and you can still see the pitch to keep an eye on the game. Plus when the screens down in the concourse are working you can keep an eye on those. A half-time beer is a necessary part of the day; f*ck queuing up for 15 minutes to then have to down it in 3 to then get back to your seat.

Always stay until after the final whistle though, I like to clap the players at the end. In that respect I'm most definitely a happy clapper.
Barry the Badger Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I do think the Carling is better than the Carlsberg was. At least its not as fizzy as the Carlsberg, so I feel less like I'm going to die when I have to down it at half time and immediately get myself up to row kk.
