Pilchards Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Good signing. Moan by the 7th post I reckon. I will come back in a minute then with my comments ;-)
Wade Garrett Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Oh no, does this mean Cortese isn't going to sign another striker. (Just getting in there, firmly with tongue in cheek, until some idiot posts it seriously).
S-Clarke Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Delighted with this news. Well worth the new deal and If Grant Holt can score 20+ at this level, so can Lambo if fully fit - I'm confident in that.
Colinjb Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Superb stuff. All together now: He stands just over 6 foot 3.....

disconnect Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Good times. Now lets announce his new speedy strike partner, and we'll have no problems for goals next year.
SuperSAINT Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Excellent news. Really looking forward to seeing how he does in the championship.
SO16_Saint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Was thinking earlier that out of lambert and oxo I'd prefer to keep lambert, so happy days!
Saint Charlie Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 He has earned that and has never let us down. Quality player.
Saint-scooby Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Great news, put a smile on my face, but typical Saints fan "IS THAT IT ?" on the news for today
dronskisaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Happy with that - not just his goals but his touch and ability to weight passes in and around the box will work well, in my opinion, in the Championship.
Saint Charlie Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 One of the best things about Lambert is he comes up with goals when they are really needed, not the third in a 3-0 win but a winner or equaliser often scoring from half chances. He finds a moment of quality at the right moment ie superb pass for Barney at Orient.
sussexsaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 57 goals in 2 seasons, class act and very happy with this.
sambosa75 Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Probably the most technically gifted player I have ever seen that has played their entire career outside the top 2 tiers. Great news, must mean Adkins is a fan and with his backing and a good pre-season behind him, next season could well be a very good season for him. I haven't felt as confident as I do now when we get a penalty since I did when MLT was playing.

He finds a moment of quality at the right moment ie superb pass for Barney at Orient. I had that very argument with a mate a few days ago about Barnard and Connolly. Don't get me wrong, I rate both but it does seem that their goals are always the "cherry on the cake" rather than scoring at 0-0 or 1-1. I know there are a few exceptions to this rule but it seems to be the case a lot of the time.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Rickie Lambert "I'm delighted to sign a new three year deal at the club. I love it here and want to end my career at Southampton" Lamberts words on Twitter!!!
Saint Charlie Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Yeah Lambert isn't on twitter. That's just some mentally ill person desperate for fame. It was a quote through the officialsaints twitter account.
johnnyboy Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Yeah Lambert isn't on twitter. That's just some mentally ill person desperate for fame. Think what they are saying comments attributed to rickie are on officialsaints or Jordan sibley Twitter feed can't remember which though !!
rolosfc Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Superb stuff. All together now: He stands just over 6 foot 3..... Ricky, Ricky.... He'll Take us to the Premier League, Ricky, Ricky....

farawaysaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Brilliant news, signing one of the best forwards in league 1 consistently over the last few years on an extended contract is good news for a Championship club in anyone's book. He's earned a new contract without a shadow of a doubt.
georgeg Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Delighted with that .. let the "Rickie" songs begin!!!
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Excellent news. Just hope he can cut it in a higher league.
doddisalegend Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Good stuff. A great player for us hope he goes on to prove himself at champ level too. I can't help but like Rickie, even though he is a scouser, he always seems so down to earth and happy to be a saints player.
VectisSaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Good times. Now lets announce his new speedy strike partner. Please can we just say quick, I prefer not to have the word "speedy" associated with Saints
SaintBobby Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 He was 80% fit for much of last season. And still damned good. 20 goals and 15 assists in the NPC, I reckon.
SuperMikey Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Great news, one of the best strikers we've had in a long time. Can imagine he'll be on a fair wedge now!
JackFrost Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13990252.stm confirmed by the beeb
Colinjb Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Ricky, Ricky.... He'll Take us to the Premier League, Ricky, Ricky.... He get's the ball he takes the p*ss....
Griffo Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Superb stuff. All together now: He stands just over 6 foot 3..... Under.
westofshannonsaint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 great news, I didn't realise that he only a year left on his contract. I think this is as important as any new signing. Were not a selling club & are keeping our better players. great news.
Dalek2003 Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Good news and it means that our new signings can gel with Rickie....
up and away Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Delighted with this news. Well worth the new deal and If Grant Holt can score 20+ at this level, so can Lambo if fully fit - I'm confident in that. I'll go along with all of that and his improvement during the run in was noticeable. But I saw enough from Connolley to see what we really need, slightly more pace and movement. Glad Ricky's been given his chance, but last seasons efforts will not be good enough.
Matthew Le God Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Ricky's last seasons efforts will not be good enough. 21 League goals and 11 League assists in 45 games not good enough? Yes, not as impressive as 2009/10, but still a very good record!
madruss Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Best passer at the club, and most complete all-round striker we've had since Beattie (before he turned shyte!) Great news
Jonnyboy Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Rickie Lambert "I'm delighted to sign a new three year deal at the club. I love it here and want to end my career at Southampton" Lamberts words on Twitter!!! Well that's good cos he's only got one more season in him. You heard it here first.
Jonnyboy Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Probably the most technically gifted player I have ever seen that has played their entire career outside the top 2 tiers. Great news, must mean Adkins is a fan and with his backing and a good pre-season behind him, next season could well be a very good season for him. I haven't felt as confident as I do now when we get a penalty since I did when MLT was playing. Have you really paid much attention to those leagues?? Great news btw.
corsacar saint Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Well deserved, far better player than some on this site opine.Excellent passer of a ball as well.Well pleased.
St Chalet Posted 1 July, 2011 Posted 1 July, 2011 Think Mr Schneiderlin would steal his crown as best passer in the club. Genuinely excited that we are likely going into the next three seasons with the sort of centre-forward we'd hate to face ourselves each week.
