saint_stevo Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Who plays off what, and where? I am joining Romsey this evening, bargain for a 25yr old as they do a 'young adult' subscription.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Currently off 10 up Botley – The majority of courses do a young adult membership although I think it usually only goes up to 23. Loving it this summer, playing everyday except Thursdays, manage to sneak a cheeky 12 holes in after work. Whilst we’re on the subject, cheap golf balls in more or less perfect condition here, bought them off this website for the past year or so, never any problems. http://www.premierlakeballs.com

toofarnorth Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Played off 6 when my handicap lapsed about 18 months ago. Have been looking at a lifestyle membership at Broadstone but not had time to play much this year. Maybe next.
AussieDog Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 When I was in the UK I used to play off 10, but since moving to Australia have found I have had less time for golf and even gave up for a couple of years. Now play once a week and hack around in about 20 (water on every hole and I don't look very deep in the rough due to brown snakes and red bellied blacks...) Currently a member here.... http://www.riverlakes.com.au/ but currently having a house built here http://golf.gainsboroughgreens.com.au and will be joining this course next year. hopefully I will be able to get a few more games in then! hutch Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 I don't play the game personally, but I'm just leaving the office to spend the next 3 days at this one, which is owned by the Company I work for.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Played Romsey for the first time with our Society the other day, lovely course for the money we paid, great vaule. I'm a pretty average player as I dont really get the time, hoping to join somewhere like Wareham or Knighton Heath once the little ones are a bit older. Bloody frustrating game............ Weston Super Saint Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Mrs WSS and I were members at Meon Valley last year - hadn't played for over 10 years and got a h/c of 23, Mrs WSS was a complete novice! Moved from Meon this spring, as it was an absolute nightmare to get a tee time in the limited times / days we had available. Now members at Cams Hall and playing to about 13. Moving back to Weston Super Mare this summer, so hoping we can transfer our membership to the Bristol Club owned by the same company as Cams Hall. sambosa75 Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 I tend to play off a tee when driving and off whatever I land on following my drive. Usually this is sand, rough or water. The last course I played was in Fareham, quite night course but I walked off after 2 holes. Nothing but admiration for good players. It's so difficult to be good enough to play it properly, I don't get how people persevere.

You might need a stairlift to get from the 17th to the 18th tee at the Bristol. Apart from that it's a nice course.

dubai_phil Posted 2 July, 2011 Share Posted 2 July, 2011 Currently 22.3 on the weird US based system we now have here. It's based on slopes & course indexes and all sorts of weird stuff, but basically when I come home I seem to be about 3 shots better than when I play over here, guess something to do with how hard a course is or something. I could be good, can biff a decent drive (my longest in competition was a sprinkler head downwind 350 yards But my Short game and Iron play at the moment is just completely rubbish and my putting although improved this year ain't there yet. I've got loads of lessons as presents, need to have them to improve but am quite happy bumbling my way around. Problem is my golf moments came early in my career when I was a hacker so I know I ain't ever gonna be able to beat that - playing in a Pro Am with Monty about 8 years ago & winning a paid trip to play in a "pan Middle East pro-am championships" in Egypt with Ronan Rafferty. (And I was a crap 28 hacker at the time) so keep the faith lads I had two good days out of about several thousand on a golf course. I make up for it now by giving Golfing tips to the Pros, Schwartzel seemed to do alright with my advice in his next comp after I told him how to self-hypnotise like Tiger does.... Oh any of you lot want to sign up and work as a Volunteer Marshall at the Race to Dubai from 6-11th December let me know by PM & I'll send you the info to sign up for a cracking week walking with the stars. As you might have read I have a little bit of pull with the organisers (winky smiley thingy)
