View From The Top Posted 27 June, 2011 Author Share Posted 27 June, 2011 Yes. Been last 3 years, what do you want to know? I'll be taking my nipper, staying about 40km away and going for Fri-Sun. If I just get general entrance tickets and took our own seats etc where would be the best place to watch it from. We'd be heading in on the E42. Baj Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Firstly, taking your own seats is probably a bad idea. The main viewing areas for ga are either flat (for chairs) and everyone will stand up (so you cant see) or too steep for you to put a chair on. You can take a small handspade if you wish and dig yourself a ledge, but even then its pretty dodgy. We (me, lighthouse, justmike, and... guh, forget his username) sat at Pouhon. If you want a decent view on race day, get there EARLY! Lighthouse might be able to correct me, but I think we were there at about 8:30am, and it was already starting to fill up!. Friday and saturday youll have no problems going where you want. For parking, we found a decent private parking place on some guys land literally 100 meters from the entrance, ill dig out the exact coordinates for you for sat nav, but I think it was in stavelot village. Have a brilliant time, its an awesome circuit in a brilliant part of the world Can't wait to go back, but this year ill just have settle for Silverstone and Monza
Lighthouse Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Yeah I seem to remember arriving at the circuit around 8am on race day. You wont really get bored waiting for the race, the support races are pretty entertaining. Spend at least one of the practice sessions sat next to Kemmel straight. The noise of an F1 car going up there full beans is something to behold. Take ear plugs too. No matter how hard you think you are (*cough* Mike) you will have a headache in 5 minutes without them. The inside of Bruxelles hairpin is probably the best place to see the cars. You are within about 20 feet of the cars going past, on a small hill so you are above the fence line with an unobstructed view. This is the best place for taking photos by far. For qualy and race day, I'd reccomend the bank on the run down to Pouhon. There is quite a lot of space, so you will get several thousand people sat there. There is a big screen opposite too, so you can keep up to date with all the possitions and action from elsewhere. Francorchamps is probably the best place to park and there are quite a few stalls and places selling beer on the way down to the circuit. Wish I could go again this year, but work stops play. Enjoy it, you will have an absolute blast. Take ear plugs, waterproofs, sun cream, a camera and plenty of water.
Baj Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Take ear plugs, waterproofs, sun cream, a camera and plenty of water. And a large stone to stick between your legs Echo what Lighthouse says re: headphones. Imagine the noisiest concert you've ever been to, times it by 3. You will hurt, take earplugs!!!!
