TopGun Posted 25 June, 2011 Share Posted 25 June, 2011 (edited) Saints are about 5/1 for any form of promotion next season. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/promotion I think those are quite generous odds. I am going to bet £20 and drink 6 less pints of beer between now and May 2012. Then I might go mad on promotion day with £100 to spend on loads of jelly beans You can also get a generous 5/1 on Pompey being relegated (9 players ATM, the new owners looking dodgy) - but I'm unsure about that one, because what would happen to the bet if they possibly ceased to trade or got points deducted for whatever complicated financial or legal reason that might yet occur... Any good punters or lawyers offering free opinions on either Saints or Pompey bets? Edited 25 June, 2011 by TopGun
SaintAmongSkates Posted 25 June, 2011 Share Posted 25 June, 2011 That's rubbish value although also quietly pleased the bookies think we have a chance as newcomers to this league
SaintBobby Posted 25 June, 2011 Share Posted 25 June, 2011 I wouldn't back us at 5/1 to go up. I'd sat we're about a 10/1 shot. So I think the odds are mean. 5/1 on Portsmouth goign down is an excleent bet though. I'll have some of that.If they ceased ro trade, I think you'd bet your money back. If they went down becaue of a points deduction, you'd win your bet.
Thedelldays Posted 25 June, 2011 Share Posted 25 June, 2011 they are silly odds
revolution saint Posted 25 June, 2011 Share Posted 25 June, 2011 I hardly ever bet on Saints but I don't think 5/1 is great, as others have said 10/1 is more realistic and the pompey one looks a better bet as well. Incidentally I did make enough in two months of betting to cover the price of a S/T which is handy. Who needs an installment plan eh?
TopGun Posted 16 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 16 August, 2011 (edited) I'm very happy with my 5/1 for promotion now! Edited 16 August, 2011 by TopGun Original post made in June.
Mattio Posted 16 August, 2011 Share Posted 16 August, 2011 still crap odds but I never bet on things like that.
Junction 9 Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 They are not crap odds at all. The bookies adjust their odds dependant on who is backing who. We are top, playing extrememly well with the rumours of more quality being added to the squad. What odd do you expect to get?
The9 Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Weren't we about 8/1 for promotion (rather than title winners) at the start of the season? I know we were only about 16s to win the thing, but "promotion" is more than twice as likely than title winners.
KK the 2nd Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Always have a pre-season bet (heart ruling head!). I'm on at 11/2 to be promoted which was the best I could see at the time. Didn't take the 18/1 for winning the league though ... I may regret that ... or then again wouldn't that be something!! Best price on promotion now 5/2 ... early days but nice to be rated in the first three in betting (with Leicester and West Ham)
Dynamo Naive Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 I got 16/1 to win the league after the Leeds game. Best you can get this morning is 15/2.
dello Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 I stuck 35 quid on last week for us to win it at 18/1- not looking a bad bet at the moment- but a long time to go yet... West Spam had a good win last night and they have to be the cast-iron favourites really..
