Quite a generalisation to categorise all chances as being equally easy/difficult.

Were not talking half chances, but you will no doubt want a ratio of difficulty from 1 to 10.

Those stats are for all chances. Half chances, full chances whatever.

In any case using your logic...

Rickie Lambert = 21 goals from 149 chances in a lower league = 1 goal in 7 chances

Sharp's 1 in 5 in the league above doesn't look so bad now does it?

Wot stats ? Did I mention stats? from the book of stats from Mathew Le God knows all ? I'm talking about people who are season ticket holders, who are not including half chances but should have scored chances.

Yes, yes you did...

Not when he only scored one in five chances.

That is a stat, and that is what I was posting in response to (hence why I quoted it).

Apart from a few suggestions on various message boards' date=' has there been anything which confirms us as the side who bid for Sharp? At what point will we need to change the thread title to Sharp rumour cools down?![/quote']

Nothing further really of note over the weekend... could this be the cooling down point...??

I think it has reached a bit of a "level" at the moment. We have made an offer, it has been declined.

The "cooling down" or 'reheating' will largely depend on Sharp when he returns to preseason training. If he makes it known he wants to play for NA again then I'd expect some deal to be thrashed out. Although as it has gone public from Doncaster's end there may be a scramble involving other clubs.

Unless a Premier League comes in for him...

Keep dreamin'.

I could see Warnock bidding for him. Whilst I'm there...

It's worth remembering that QPR are richer than us and a Premier League a now, and they've not signed anyone (to my knowledge). They're supposedly in for Jimmy Bullard but that's about it. Are their fans going mental about it?

And you're really just basing that judgement on the fact Sharp has rejected us, aren't you? No reason to suggest sloppy journalism at all. Sharp may be mistaken in thinking a prem club will come in for him but that's hardly the journalist's fault.

I think when it's on the bbc as him rejecting us then I will apologise. But until that happens, The echo and http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/...move_1_3522862 are full of sh1t, always have been always will be.

No but I dont dismiss something just because it's a negative story.

I heard Sharpy had turned us down from another Donny player, oh well!!!!! Still have a feeling we might go wow, when our hidden targets are announced!!!

do you think we have hidden targets to be announced, rather than we're just not able to bring in our first choices?

3 million or thereabouts seems to be the going rate for decent npc strikers at the moment. It's not overpriced at all.

As no one is paying £3mill it's clearly is overpriced.

Crazy money and no way should we be paying it.

Bet some of the players being talked about will go for those sums. Cms maybe sharp among others.

just not convince CMS would improve us £3m - over Lambert, Guly, Barnard, Connolly, Lallana, Ox-C in any combination - player of his age, one very good season in league 1, last year of contract - think £3m is silly price

He's not worth £3mill. Not yesterday, not today and not tomorrow.

Did CMS not put his value up to 3 million,by his 60 second cameo against the great Brazilians at-The Emirates?, even though he did not even touch the ball.[i still think for a lesser price he would have been good for us].

Sounds like my 9yo when he realises he's wrong.

WTF are you on about? I'm fully aware that no one has paid three million for an npc striker yet. You can't just state that they are not worth it when there is so much more left of the window.

Posted
That's not a great argument is it.

About as great as saying they are not worth it and your reasoning for that being that no one has come in for them and paid that amount. There is ages left in the window and I think there will be quite a few npc clubs willing to spend that amount on proven quality. Whether the player accepts them is another matter.

Adkins on Sharp: "Significant bid accepted. Decided for our own reasons not to pursue the deal."

So we turned him down?

I think it's clever from Saints because it was a large bid but must mean that we have other targets in mind?

Would seem strange because of Nigel's history with him.

Possibly the wages he wanted, and maybe his mindset for moving down south. Maybe he feels we can get better value elsewhere? Who knows, but at least it shows we have significant money to use.

I don't think it matters whether we pulled the plug on the deal, or he just didn't want to move South. Surely the point is that we bid decent money for him.

Agreed on wages. It's the only thing that makes sense.

I'd imagine we may now up our offer for CMS.
