Can't say I've heard of him but anyone who has either influenced or worked with Billy Bragg, Eliza & Martin Carthy has to have something about them. RIP. That article does show how close knit (or incestuous) the folk scene can be.

Sad to hear that. I loved The Watersons close-harmony, a cappella style.

A true giant of the english folk scene and a really top bloke as well.

 

Us old folkies grew up listening to people like the Watersons,Martin Carthy and June Tabor on our crackly LP'S. Hopefully Norma Waterson gets back to good health soon.
