Jones91 Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I'm pretty sure I've read on here that the Carlsberg contract finished last season. Can anybody confirm this? If so, what's the most likely replacement? I am hoping for a nice premium 5% lager personally...
Jones91 Posted 21 June, 2011 Author Posted 21 June, 2011 Is there a stupid football regulation that says they are only allowed to sell p1ss?
Johnny Shearer Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I would like Moretti! Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
latter day saint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 sod the beer ! anyone know what cider they will be serving ? hope they change to Bulmers, rather than Magners if it has to be bottled. would be nice to be able to buy a pint instead of getting ripped off with the bottles though.
Saint Garrett Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 sod the beer ! anyone know what cider they will be serving ? hope they change to Bulmers, rather than Magners if it has to be bottled. would be nice to be able to buy a pint instead of getting ripped off with the bottles though. Thatchers Gold !!!!
Appy Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Peroni would be nice. Will be carling though i expect.
Draino76 Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Would be quite happy with Peroni. Failing that; Heineken, Coors, Asahi, Amstel, Budweiser, Carling, Efes, A Le Coq, Stella, Leffe, Corona, Bintao, Tiger or a few others will do.
The9 Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I'd like to see a list of lagers, beers and ales people like here as opposed to anyone trying to answer the question about the contracts too.
jjsaint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Stella please Stella + football don't mix for me, I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this.
swannymere Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Stella tastes like chemicals although strangely Stella 4% is great, go figure.
once_bitterne Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 It should be Doombar and Abbot ale! No one really actually likes real ales do they? It's a myth surely.
Weston Saint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Marstons Pedigree and I might start drinking at SMS again!
dune Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 No one really actually likes real ales do they? It's a myth surely. 90% of real ale is sweet horrible stuff.
Saint_Ash Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 90% of real ale is sweet horrible stuff. In your opinion, and you're opinion is usually 90% ******** Do you know how many real ales there are out there? To say 90% is sweet horrible stuff is completely ignorant seeing as you're probably not even had 9% of real ales.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 No one really actually likes real ales do they? It's a myth surely. You obviously haven't tasted that pure gold in a glass, Tanglefoot. Nothing better for a days drinking. Wont be any good at SMS because they wont look after it correctly. The reason these places serve p*ss water is because it's cheap and any muppet can look after it. To keep a decent ale you need passion for it and you need to know what you're doing.
Colinjb Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 No one really actually likes real ales do they? It's a myth surely. I love a pint of good IPA. Wye valley brewery do a drop called HPA (Herefordshire Pale Ale,) it's nectar. Every effort I have seen to mass serve proper ale has left it tasting awful though, so I would prefer to see a good lager at SMS. Carling is not a good lager.
Saint_Ash Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 1. Rochefort 10 2. Rochefort 8 3. Peroni Gran Riserva 4. Moretti 5. Duvel Thanks That's more like it. Also add Karmeliet Maredsous La Chouffe Westmalle And Real Ales: ESB Goodens Gold 49er Poachers Choice Dark Star APA
Crowds Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Red Stripe is my fav beer currently and damn it would match our colours too!!
Saint_Ash Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Has anyone else tried to do a Rochefort 8 and a Rochefort 10 in a lunch hour at Lowlander then head back to the office? Not in a lunchtime but had a Rochefort 6, 8 and 10 in an evening followed by Westmalle dubbel then a tripel.
saint lard Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I would be partial to some Jaegermeister.......ok,i will settle for a decent Cider.
trousers Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I'm pretty sure I've read on here that the Carlsberg contract finished last season. Can anybody confirm this? I think that's a resounding "no" !
La BoIS Saint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 That's more like it. Also add Karmeliet Maredsous La Chouffe Westmalle And Real Ales: ESB Goodens Gold 49er Poachers Choice Dark Star APA Finally someone comes up with a list that makes it looks like they've tried some beer! Add in some Surrey Hills, Dark Star and a few Kernel bottles and we'll be well happy!
eurosaint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 1. Rochefort 10 2. Rochefort 8 3. Peroni Gran Riserva 4. Moretti 5. Duvel Thanks What are the chances that a beer of 8.5% will be sold at a football match ?? Great beer though, been p1ssed on it manys a time ! http://www.duvel.be/#/uk/en/the_beer
angelman Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 If they want a tasty beer that isn't too strong but would still keep the punters happy, rather than 49er, Ringwood Best would be good.
adelfas31 Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 sod the beer ! anyone know what cider they will be serving ? hope they change to Bulmers, rather than Magners if it has to be bottled. would be nice to be able to buy a pint instead of getting ripped off with the bottles though. Bulmers and Magners are the same thing, aren't they? Bulmers has been around for years in Ireland and just got marketed in the UK as Magners but the same stuff is poured into both bottles.

Badger Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 If they want a tasty beer that isn't too strong but would still keep the punters happy, rather than 49er, Ringwood Best would be good. Good idea, a local brewery producing "a beast of a beer".
saintscottofthenortham Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 bottles of either Sol or Becks please Becks Fusion 'with a zest of Orange' to be precise. DAMN that is some good shizz.
The Cat Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 It was Carling at the Ex-Saints game. Congratulations to the club for managing to find one of the only beers worse than Carlsberg.
The Cat Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Good idea, a local brewery producing "a beast of a beer". They should get a local brewery to produce a new ale called "Saints" or something and sell that in the ground. Nice little marketing tie-up, easy to promote and it would be fantastic to have a beer named after the club.

Magners is sold as Bulmers in Ireland & Magners elsewhere, due to a link between the firms going back to the 30's. the Bulmers we buy here is from the Hereford, where it has always been produced.

MorningtonCrescent Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Ringwood probably would have bottled their Best or FortyNiner into plastic bottles.. however as they have been bought out by Marston's, they may not be as "local" in thought anymore :-( Most ales would be fine in a plastic bottle, for a half time refreshment - no worry over "looking after it"... and much much better than any lager?
Give it to Ron Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 http://www.itchenvalley.com/Home.html They should persuade the most local brewery to come up with something - The itchen does flow past SMS after all! We get that up at Compton the Hampshire Rose bottles ok as does Fagins - would be far better than that ****e Tetleys we get.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Either a decent real ale like Ringwood, IPA, Directors or HSB or bottles of Crabbies Ginger Beer - very nice!
VectisSaint Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 I think there's a gap for a sports car in Soton with a good selection of decent beers and ales. Good idea, a Maserati or an Alfa 8C and a few pints of Ringwood, sounds good, but probably not together, the OB may not approve.
StVince1966 Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 snake bite whisky chasers and good grade blow i firmly believe the club has an opportunity here to think out the box?
saint-ross Posted 21 June, 2011 Posted 21 June, 2011 Any of the following for me: Doombar Tribute Ringwood Best Anything from Skinners brewery! Lovely jubbly!
