Saint-scooby Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Ok Boxing day will be Reading or Brighton that I know. The Skates will be on a saturday and will be on TV "both games" So hazard a guess first game will be Millwall away
SNSUN Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 First game Forest away, Boxing Day Pompey away, last game Ipswich at home. If I'm spot on, buy me a Cinzano.

We will be no where near the relegation zone next season.
View From The Top Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Why so negative? Because he's desperate for Adkins to fail.

I don't think that Gospert being your location is a coincidence.

I really don't see us struggling next year. There are far weaker teams than us next season

Better to be a surprised pessimist then depressed optimist.
Hatch Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 You'll be able to see them first on the SaintsWeb home page at 9am on the dot. Don't you have to pay for that? or something.
Liquidshokk Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Might be a stupid question but who decides on the fixtures and what is the decision based on? Is the list created around any kind of logic in terms of difficulty of opposition or travelling distance?! Or is it just random like cup draws...

Is the list created around any kind of logic in terms of difficulty of opposition or travelling distance?! Or is it just random like cup draws... Considering the "festive" fixtures, boxing day etc..... things seem a little too co-ordinated to be random, but I doubt there is any true logic there, it is the football league after all.

It isn't random at all. A huge number of factors are taken into consideration and consultation with the clubs, as explained in this article... http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FLExplainedDetail/0,,10794~1356571,00.html
paulwantsapint Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 Middlesbrough away boxing day Leeds away new years day
saint lard Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 Better to be a surprised pessimist then depressed optimist. Exactly.
NickG Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 In the long run the pessimist may be proved right, but the optimist has a better time on the trip.
Huntingdon Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I have a gut feeling we'll be travelling to Yorkshire for our first game Leeds, Barnsley or Doncaster Away
stevegrant Posted 17 June, 2011 Author Posted 17 June, 2011 Don't you have to pay for that? or something. Correct. Fixtures have arrived, embargoed until 9am, obviously. None of you are correct with your guesses so far
Saint_Jonny Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I'm going Coventry at St Marys :-/ winnable game! I'd be happy with that!
Wade Garrett Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I'm going for Bristol City at home. Pompey on Boxing Day.
brightspark Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I'm gonna have a guess at Blackpool away. Based on a similar theory that sees top Premier League sides host newly promoted sides on the first day. Arsenal v Swansea City Manchester United v QPR Chelsea v Norwich City etc
Hatch Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 new thread sweepstake. I'll go with 5 new threads stating the first game of the season.
Saint_clark Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I know when the p*mpey game is! Na na na na na! (And yes it is different than what the fixture list says.) It was always going to be different than what the fixture list said.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 I know when the p*mpey game is! Na na na na na! (And yes it is different than what the fixture list says.) Care to expand Mr ITK...?
scott_saints Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 Why would it be different from what the fixture list says? Surely the point of fixtures is to tell the truth?...
Saint_clark Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 Why would it be different from what the fixture list says? Surely the point of fixtures is to tell the truth?... I think it's one of those annoying technical things where they have to announce the original date...they can't just use common sense and arrange a "safe" kick off time from the start of the season.
This Charming Man Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 Why would it be different from what the fixture list says? Surely the point of fixtures is to tell the truth?... Fixture list will have it as a 3pm Saturday KO. The OB will already have it down as a Sunday 12pm KO.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 17 June, 2011 Posted 17 June, 2011 So if you know when the skate game is... Tell us!
