theyin Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Is this the new confessional? Could there be a thread without malice? Is this a sign of the more thoughtful, caring, sharing Saints fan breaking through? A daring venture from Turkish I'd say - I was fully expecting another claim of 'what a gay thread'. Interesting reading so far. As for me, since a move down under after marrying a chick from the ethnic minorities, it's been a roller coaster of assimilation. Think 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' and that's pretty much the experience I've had since arriving. Other than that it's been discovering this new home town of mine, the surrounding coastline and up woop woop (bush) as they call it round these parts. Funnily enough, getting into photography as well. Dreaming of a Canon 5D MkII (for it's video capabilities) but can't quite justify it at the moment, especially given my luck the MkIII will be announced the day after I purchase one.
Dan Johnson Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 I've played for Southampton Junior 1 side Compton for the last 12 years so my attendance to St Marys on Saturdays depends whether I have a game/kick off time/weather. Share a season ticket with my little brother. Also powerlift/bodybuild naturally and once my body gives up football will throw myself into that a little more. Big into my cars, bit of a grease monkey and love boxing so tend to watch allot of that when football season finishes
saint_bert Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 My 4 year old takes up alot of my time. However, I'm massively into my music. Any gig I can get too is usually attended. Just been to Download and am off to Sonisphere next month. PS3, walking etc etc
saint lard Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 My parents' house looks over Stokes Bay golf course so I try to get a few games in every now and again when I'm down from University. Cricket is my second great sporting love, after saints, so I try to get to the Rose Bowl as often as I can, or to watch Kent if I'm at Uni. Other than that, I study Drama and Theatre Studies so I love to perform or watch theatre. I have my own comedy group and we specialise in early 20th century slapstick (laurel and Hardy type stuff) and we're looking to go professional with that within the next couple of years. I really enjoy researching the great comics of the last century, Tommy Cooper, Max Miller, The Two Ronnies... all timeless comics Fort road?. Thats the course i virtually overlook and was refreing too in my previous post.
landford.saint Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Just curious Landford why is your Mrs lucky? I could say lucky she married me, but to be honest I'm lucky to have married her. To find a girl born within smelling distance of Notarf Krap who is such a avid Saints fan and puts up with me, i'm a very lucky man. Been married 27 years.
doddisalegend Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Spending time with the wife and kids is always high on the list. I also really enjoy watching my nine year old play football, he has just joined the under 11s Hedge End Rangers A team and is just starting to play proper 11 aside matches he's got lots of freindlies and a few tournements lined up over the summer to give me my football fix. Other than that I enjoy military history reading about it, visiting military museums (love going to Bovington) and I'm partial to making the odd military model kit too.
sidthesquid Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Birdwatching. It's just like supporting Saints. Time-consuming, obsessive, depressing, frustrating & just occasionally it gives you the biggest legal high you can get. (luckily I have a very long-suffering wife.)

Time-consuming, obsessive, depressing, frustrating & just occasionally it gives you the biggest legal high you can get. (luckily I have a very long-suffering wife.) I know what you mean although I love all nature, not just birds. My other passion (as it was my career until I retired) is running my own website about nature in Dorset imaginatively named http://www.natureofdorset.co.uk!
Seany S Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 My wonderful girlfriend and her two kids, and my own 6 year old daughter, me and her mum have split but luckily it is all amicable and I have her a few days a week. Daughter has been to 9 Saints games and out of those we have won eight and drawn one, so she is a lucky mascot. I took the step kiddies to their first SMS experience this season as well, the fun day after the last match of the season, and I think I have whet their appetites for more next year! Luckily all of the kids will get in free for a good few years yet so won't hit me too hard in the sky rocket. Other interests? Well I work in mental health services and love my job very much, been there seven years now. I love watching cricket, NFL (am a big New York Jets fan), freelance writing (I review and write about videogames), socialising with my mates in pubs, and DJ-ing, I do that in my spare time and earn a few extra quid doing it. I am also obsessed by Homicide: Life On The Street, the Wire, The Corner, Treme and anything else connected with David Simon.
Dimond Geezer Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Coaching kids rugby Help at my sons Cub pack Going to gigs when the Mrs lets me.
View From The Top Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 With 3 young kids, 9, 5 & 3, all my spare time is spent with them or attending swimming lessons, swimming galas, gymnastics, cubs, footy training, Sunday matches etc. My nipper plays for an under 10s team so I help out with that when needed and we spend quite a lot of time travelling. Want them to learn about other cultures etc and not the tedious plastic tourist sh*t. When they are in bed I'll fire up the PS3 and if the mother in law is down then the missus and I will hit the movies. My wife has just finished her degree and I'm doing some more post grad stuff for work and that often eats into an evening
SNSUN Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Binge drinking until my liver waves the white flag, snooker, Football Manager. I lead a very sheltered life really, shiftwork takes up a lot of my time. This summer I am also amusing myself with house hunting (renting a decent place on a budget is nigh on impossible in and around Egham), and wedding preparations for next year.
The9 Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 (edited) Honestly I'm so skint from paying for Saints-related stuff at the end of last season I don't do anything not directly Saints related apart from go to weddings at the moment. Basically Saints was the excuse for pretty much all of my socialising and travelling in 2010 and 2011 with the exception of getting married and the honeymoon, and aside from running a Sunday side last season for about 9 months and the occasional 5 and 7 a sides I don't have many interests. Never get to use the Xbox, don't go anywhere without a football match at the end of it... sporadic pub quiz attendance and reading books are my cheap options at the moment, gave up the Sky subscription 2 years ago and don't miss it. I suppose this is one of the reasons people saying "can you afford to get a ST" annoys me so much. It's about the only thing I AM doing ! Especially now my 5- and 7-a-side playing is becoming a lot like hard work. Oh yeah, plus mocking up kits on Photoshop when I can be arsed, and watching films and listening to podcasts for free. I don't dare start Football Manager, that has been known to take over my life. Edited 16 June, 2011 by The9
Griffo Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 In all honesty, nothing else particularly. I've been to the bookies and pub most days and am probably wasting more money than I would do in the football season. Need to start saving now.

You are 18 Griffo, your life should involve nothing more than drinking, football, slamming birds and going to gigs. This is the only acceptabl behaviour for an 18 year old.

Not only should women not go to football as there is no place for them, in your case there is even more reason not to allow her as it's a significant cost saving measure. Buy her a new iron and ironing board as compensation and tell her she can look forward to saturdays watching her Friends boxsets while you are out at the football. Edited 16 June, 2011 by Turkish

NorthamSteve Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Drumming, as I'm sure a lot of you know, I'm giving up my season ticket of 21 years to move away and get at least a year of training (up to 4 or 5) to try and push myself into a musical profession. - Not all my eggs in one basket as I'll be doing so techy bits too! Going to Saints' games will be what I will miss most and I'm sure tomorrow's fixture release will bring that aspect home even more so.
Saint Luke Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Wife and 2 kids. 16 year old girl - pretty independent and 10 year old boy, takes up loads of my time. Massively into cricket, wicket keeper for his under 11 team. He wants to be a cricket pro - even over football. He's a big Saint though. Feel for Saint Lard, would die without my kids. Also got an allotment - pottering time.
miserableoldgit Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 When not obsessing over the collar detail of the new Saints shirt, I enjoy books, theatre, running, writing, music/comedy gigs, museums, physics/astronomy, guitars, football manager, atheism and cheese. Are the last two connected??
Soggy Bottom Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 I coach under 8 football, I play on a Thursday, like fitness (currently doing P90X) & into home cinema systems,
ecuk268 Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Growing a few veggies, watching the mighty Hampshire at the Rose Bowl, reading quite a lot and genealogy. Got back to about 1780 on my mum's side, all good Hampshire stock. My dad's side are showing worrying West Country tendencies - started near Exeter about 1770 and have gradually moved east.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Quite into Mountain Biking as well, and just generally having cool stuff that I don't use. Obviously something psychological there that I need to sort out.
Suhari Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Muay Thai: would train every day if work didn't get in the way (that and age); usually do 3/4 sessions a week now. Forces Fit: got into it about 3 months ago (having got fed up with boring jogging - which I only used to do to help with fitness for Thai); hard work and the combination of bodywork exercises and running complements Thai very well; go 2/3 times a week. Going to the pub. I'm British in'I?! Relaxing with my amazing wife.

View From The Top Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Also into hill walking but don't do it in the summer months.
lettuce Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Collecting/playing "retro" computer/video games (been toning it down in recent years, kind of reached a critical mass!) Astronomy and reading/collecting books about NASA, the space race, Apollo moon landings, etc. 5-a-side football Darts Horse riding (started learning about 18 months ago, best decision I've made in years!) NFL (Go Seahawks!) Wife (in spite of all of the above, I'm married!)
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 I'm a musician (guitar/vocals) in primarily two bands, so playing quite a few live gigs is my main other pastime other than my family. I have a 6 month old Grandson who WILL be a Saints supporter and increasingly he is going to take up more of my time I think. I'm also a keen photographer - portraiture and stuff like weddings mainly. Interestingly, I've been wondering recently whether there is a 45+ year old football 'club' to get involved in. I miss having a kick about, but can't keep up with the youngsters nowadays. Anyone know of anything or any like-minded chaps interested in getting something organised - perhaps once or twice a month?

Not sure if this still applies, but there was a 'veterans' league that Colden Common F.C. used to enter a side into. Not sure if there would be any clubs near you that would have a similar set up.

I may look into that though. (:
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Chairman of local football club running 27 teams from 8 to Adults' date=' including Power Chair Side[/quote'] Sounds too serious?! Just want to play some 5/7 a side or similar really.
Ziggy Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 As well as a season ticket at Saints with my eldest boy I have a season ticket at Cardiff Blues rugby team with my youngest boy. That just about sorts out weekends for three quarters of the year!
1976_Child Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 Am thinking of taking up serial killing. Got a few books out the library to get me started. Just got to work out whether I will be a random killer where there is no pattern or whether I should shoot for the kind who targets one specific demographic and leaves calling cards at the scene. And I have yet to decide on a method of choice. Stabbing is going to involve a rather hefty clothing bill as I would have to burn everything after each outing. Too much blood, ya see. I don't have a gun, so shooting is out. I could just bash the victim over the head with a crow bar a few times. Call myself the Crow Bar Killer! Has a good sound to it. But again, if one gets a crow-barring wrong it too could result in a lot of blood. So that leaves either poison or strangulation. Now poisoning is a wee bit too quaint. But strangulation has a nice feel to it. Look the victim in the eye while I squeeze the life out of him or her. And no blood. Yup. Strangulation it is! Yippee! I have a new non-Saints related hobby! The Southern Strangler is on the lose. Be ware.... at least until the pre-season kicks off.
Dark Munster Posted 16 June, 2011 Posted 16 June, 2011 NHL - Canucks NFL - Colts Also play a lot of golf. And Modern Warfare. Ditto on Canucks. Shame about the result yesterday.
