Does this forum take itself too seriously?

It's not just the forum, it's in real life too. People take life far too seriously. Everyone needs to calm down, enjoy themselves and stop worrying and getting worked up over everything. I hate hassle so I absolutely avoid it.

Most of the good posters have been banned, and those that haven't have to moderate their posts to conform to the mundane level of the Liberal Elite. It's a shame because eventually those who squeel the loudest will have nothing to squeel about. And then the forum will become totally dead.

It's been a while since we've had a "what's your favourite cheese?" thread. Let's get this place rocking with more threads like this.

But yes, yes it can.

which do you prefer though ? SWF or TUI ?

The sure idiocy on here means it'll take a lot to beat this forum. I dont mean this board, which can can be okay and interesting if not a lot holier than thou most of the time, but the main one. 18 pages of people making mock ups of what the new kit could like for example, defies belief. SOme of the rumours have me in stitches and the sheer lack of football knowledge and reality on there never ceases to amaze me, hence this site is compulsive membership. The UI tends to have more realistic posters football wise and more people that know what they talk about so from that point of view then that is better. Could i live without both? definitely, do i want to? No way!!

I have looked at TUI a few times, and must admit they seem a whole lot more realistic about what is going on saints wise, still a similar level of cortese polarization mind, but then IMO that is what makes a good forward thinker, you need to make waves to get somewhere at times. He has made a lot of stupid mistakes mind.

The stupid OTT rumours and beliefs on here at times make me laugh mind, (Owen was actually at St Marys BTW, not that I ever believed we would sign him) but what winds me up is the shear about of whining, ****ing and moaning that is killing the forum. The two admins Boj and Grant aren't ever around, dealing with other projects but seem to pop up just in time to do something to the detriment of the forum. I do think at times SWF is the lad of the PC elite.

It has just been so boring lately, which is why I hardly post anymore, I mean if you have such tw*ts as Hypo being the local internet warrior what do you expect ? Plus I have other things to do. I never used to mind popping on for a bit of banter but seeing as you can't any more whats the point ?

Come on over to the UI.

I really dont think that you can totally blame the mods or admins for the (percieved) decline of the site, they are only reacting to peoples complaints. Therefore the buck stops a, with the poster and b, the reader. If we are going to get so wound up about what somebody might post on a forum, which lets face it, is read by 2 - 300 regulars - then we have some sad contributors.

Yes there has to be rules - and no, we dont want the place decending into farce. Simply put - this place just needs a good dose of 'common sence'. There is little doubt that this forum is less interesting and appealing than it was a couple of years ago, and recent events have done nothing to enhance it's readability or credibility - but as I said before - lets not blame the mods.

Next time you feel offended by somebodys post, or get into a hissy fit slagging match with a fellow poster - go take a chill pill and sleep on it for a night instead of pressing the 'report post' button. Perhaps once you have cooled off you will then appreciate what it is - an internet forum - nothing else.

I do agree with Turkish, and although I've only been present here for two years I've noticed that during this time that the number of good threads, posts, etc have been in decline. From discovering this site when I first joined and for months after I was hooked on here. After coming home from a long days work and much to the Mrs' annoyance I would be on here for hours catching up, with mainly good new threads and new posts continuously being added I knew that once I'd caught up I would probably be on here a good while longer reading all the new stuff that had been posted again in the meantime!

With regards to the further comments posted by LTGL, Dune, Smirking Saint, and Micky, I also agree that a lot of people do need to lighten up and not take other posters views on a forum so seriously. Having seen a lot of posters at odds with each other on here I found myself thinking that rather than post and get involved in a spat with someone that I'd rather leave commenting on threads to others which I really shouldn't be doing on a site where I want to contribute and be involved. There have been plenty of times when I would have liked to have made comment or made a remark but found myself hesitant and refrained just on the 'off chance' another poster took umbrage as I want to enjoy the time I spend on here, instead the few posts I do make I find myself being careful limiting them to threads where I can't see what I'd post would offend anyone.

Although I don't necessarily share the view point of some particular posts where I just find some to be purposely argumentative, distasteful, or offensive from some of the more regular posters, I still recognise that these very same regular posters do also have a valuable contribution to this site and equally add good opinions, thought provoking views and humorous remarks too and find it a shame when some either move on or find themselves banned. A regular poster that may annoy me on one thread can also make me nod, think or smile on another, and to be honest if I really didn't like anything they posted I would simply just put them on ignore. I tried 'ignore' once on one poster (who was banned at least a year ago) but due to other contributions he could make I had to take him off ignore as I could see through other posters quoting him how much he was contributing to some good debates which I enjoyed reading.

I can't imagine how good this site must have been in the years before I joined seeing how many comments I see regarding the 'old days'. Although it appears to have become more sterile since I first joined I still spend many hours on here and although I very seldom post I do find there is a lot more waiting before a chunky new thread comes along that all and sundry jump into to post on.

I really do hope that this site can lighten up more and then despite the hours in a week I lose on this here already I'll be able to see what I've been missing in a return to the days I've read so much about!

when you have posters running to the mods every 5 minutes the site is going to be diluted.

Deppo has been banned, and the site is worse for it.

Are people that serious that humour cannot be allowed on so called serious threads?

Sadly, part of the problem with the written word is that it is sometimes difficult to tell when someone is being serious and when they`re being funny.

If people mistake or misunderstand posts it can lead to them being "upset" when that wasn`t the original purpose. I think that Deppo`s "sense of humour" meant different thing to different people.

Very true but I can't understand why people can't just put a poster on 'ignore' rather than running to the mods.

Personally i find Deppos humour quite irritating. Yes he could be funny sometimes and even his comments taking the p*ss out of me amused me at times, but constant spamming of threads with stupid comments started to grate a bit, but it's a football forum FFS, if you dont like it just ignore it. People that run to the mods reporting posts really need to have a word with themselves.

This. Sometimes I loved him, others I loathed him, and on those latter occasions I just 'scrolled on by' to the next post. Life is far too short to be taking this forum that seriously.

So you moderate your posts to the so-called mundane level of the so-called Liberal Elite?

Shropshire Blue, btw!

I do indeed. My innernet posts are specially crafted so as not to give them a fit of the vapours.

Is the Ayatollah a Muslim?

It all started when the lads that started it up decided to form a limited company to run it!!

Talk about delusions of grandeur!

A sensible move in these days of litigation, best the limited company gets sued than an individual.
