OK I will kick the thread off with my thoughts.

2.30

This should be as the betting suggests a straight race between Goldikova and Canford Cliffs, although Cape Blanco is capable of a good run, especially if reproducing his win in last seasons Irish Champion stakes, when routing the field. The rain will not have helped Canford Cliffs cause as he has not run on soft ground and any punters will have to take a chance if backing him and the ground is soft, Goldikova is not getting any younger, but she probably needed her first run of the season despite winning and is very classy, she is unbeaten on these shores, and despite Canford Cliffs potential, it has to be Goldikova for me.

Selection:Goldikova Dark Horse: Cape Blanco

3.05

Has anyone got a big pin ?? A cracking race but with so many foreign raiders, you can never be too sure of how good they are, so I will concentrate on the English and Irish chances. Sole Power won nicely last time, with many of these in behind him, but he rarely runs two races alike, and it is one of his rivals I really fancy, Kingsgate Native was beaten by Sole Power last time but his stable are now flying along with his jockey, the ground shouldnt be a problem and I expect a big run. One at a big price is Swiss Diva, he improved steadily last season, has form on soft ground and goes well for his jockey.

Selection: Kingsgate Native Dark Horse: Swiss Diva

3.45

Its all about Frankel, I really hope he comes out and blitzes his rival, on the bare form nothing should get close to him...and hopefully it wont.

Selection: Frankel Dark Horse:

4.25

A huge field and probably just a watching brief, but my two against the field are Roman Soldier who was very impressive when winning last time out and St Barths whose latest win has been franked with the second winning.

Selections: Roman Soldier and St Barths

5.00

A cracking race over 2 miles and 4 furlongs, I had the winner last year in Junior and fancy a horse with a similar profile this year in Veiled, he has been in good on the flat and over jumps, his handicap rating on the flat is very low compared to his jumps rating, and Nicky Henderson seems to have found the key with this horse, with it winning 3 out of 5 occasions for him, his two defeats came on the first run for the stable when favourite and then in a hot contest at Punchestown, his stamina will be key. The dark horse is La Estrella (if he runs) he has been declared for several races recently and been pulled out, it could be a real indication that connections have entered him in this race, admittedly he has only been running in AW races but has been winning impressively (13 times), stamina should not be a problem as if you go back to 2008 he won over the jumps 2 miles 4 furlongs staying on.. He could spring a surprise at a big price.

Selection : Veiled Dark Horse: La Estrella

5.35

It just has to be Worthington, he won nicely on his debut, and his trainer and jockey are a formidable pairing. One at a bigger price is Ballesteros who has been fancied on his two runs so far, he was behind the useful Mezmaar (likely fav in the 4.25) on his last run and Brian Meehans juveniles normally improve for racing.

Selection :Worthington Dark horse: Ballesteros.

Cheers all, good luck and heavy wallets.

morning all

2.30 has to be Canford Clifffs

3.05 gone for some value here as not that happy with the faves, Monsieur Chevalier e/w

3.45 Wootton without Frankel here for me.

4.25 will get back to you on this, I like way too many here - will see if the draw plays any significance in previous races before getting involved.

5.00 Veiled

Won't be wading in very heavily this week, but will have a little dabble. I quite like the chances of the Japanese horse GRAND PRIX BOSS, in the without Frankel market. I think that foreign form tends to get quite underrated over here and he should be shorter. I am thinking similarly about BRIDGETOWN in the 15:05 (E/w)

Canford for me in the opener as well. Think he is a great miler and Goldi may find age starting to catch up.

delivered too early!

You would have thought that in the 2000 guineas but he kept going although the others were starting to close towards the end. In spite of the fact that the others were closing on him today I was fairly confident that they wouldn't get to him. I think that he is a horse that needs to cruise at high speed rather than one that can be delivered late. 8 furlongs is his absolute limit though.

I too didn't think he would lose at any stage, but didn't exactly look like he finished well. I see Quelley says he idled (got bored) at the end as no horses near him to keep interest!

Just finished watching the races..my thoughts

La Estrella ran nicely and was unlucky not to place, no concern about staying, if anything he needs further...Veiled was a nice winner though.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on Frankel, I personally think the jock should have held on to him much longer, there didnt seem a need to go chasing the pacemaker like that...i suppose thats what pressure does to you.

Canford Cliffs, won a shade cosily I think as did the fav in the last.

Prohibit won well and looking at his form, in hindsight he had a good chance, Kingsgate Native seems to be a horse that may never win.

Very unlucky with my selections in the 4.25 with a 2nd and 3rd, although the fav won a shade cosily.

so in all not a bad day, some good racing to watch and lets hope for some more tomorrow. Just going to study them now.

Take care

I've heard others saying that Frankel went off hard deliberately as there were question marks about the others' stamina and he def stays a mile so they wanted to turn it into a stamina test. Looked like madness to me, but even under a bad ride, he won well and beat some decent horses. If possible, I think they should try and hold him up a bit, you know he has hell of an engine so as long as he is not left too much to do, he should have the beating of anyone at the finish.

Terrible days betting for me today, minor returns on a CC / Frankel double but not great overall. Just having a look at some of the form now, will post something up in the morning. On first glance, Strong Suit looks a big price in the first if back to anything like last year's form. It's placing a lot on the basis of that wind op sorting him out though...

Ascot - Day 2

2.30

I like the look of Codemaster and his last win was impressive, breaking the track record. He has form on Good to soft and is relatively unexposed. The dark horse for me is Western Aristocrat, he is unbeaten, but has only won by the smallest of margins, that said he is unexposed, will surely improve and has form on good to soft ground.

Selection: Codemaster. Dark Horse: Western Aristocrat

3.05

Many of these are in good form, Seka and I'm a Dreamer will have their followers as will Music Show, but their best form is on a firmer surface.. Saajjhaa the likely favourite has good form on soft ground, he has always been held in high regard and can take this race. The other horse I fancy is Lolly For Dolly, who has a record of 4 out of 4 wins when running on soft or yielding ground and could take a hand in this.

Selection: Sajjhaa Dark Horse Lolly For Dolly

3.45

So You Think looks a real beast and it will be a real surprise if he loses here, Planteur has a chance if the fav doesnt run his race, but I cant see it...so 3 favs to win the first3 races then :-)

Selection: So You Think

4.25

Now this is more like a whole host of runners over a mile, and many in with a chance..with that in mind my two selections against the field are Brick Red, who looked useful last season and after two disappointing runs returned to some semblance of form last time, his trainer remains in good form and the horse is potentially well drawn. The other I like is Point North with the enigmatic Mr Barzalona on board, the horse is lightly raced and has form on good to soft ground.

Selection: Point North. Dark Horse: Red Brick

5.00

This should be Shumooz for the taking he looked very impressive on his debut and his form has been franked ..But his price is too skinny, the other british horses are nothing to shout about form wise, so I will take a chance on Gypsy Robin, who looked very impressive in America and has come along way.

Selection: Gypsy Robin

5.35

Whats this, a race at Royal Ascot with donkeys and selling platers, its disgraceful, and I refuse to make a selection.... ok if I have to I will go for Winters Night to be less bad than the others :-)

Selection: Winter's Night

Good luck

Frankie

Maybe Quelly was only following Sir Henry orders when he went from 4 /5 furlongs out. Guess we will never know.

Shame we now know he doesn't have the stamina for a mile and half, would loved to have seen him in the King George.

Thank god for Strong Suit coming in! After all the talk of getting bashed yesterday, the bookies are absolutely laughing today. Not a single favourite won and one of the bankers of the festival in So You Think got turned over. SYT might have taken out quite a few lucky 15's etc over the festival as a whole. Bloodbath

A cracking day for the bookies today.....

On to Day 3.

2.30

A tricky race to figure out, but with Hannons team firing all of a sudden Crown Dependency has to come into the equation, his win was visually very impressive and hopefully he can take a hand here. Of the others I like the look of Paul Coles, Silver Heels. He ran very green on his debut but still won nicely, the runner up has franked the form and Ryan Moore is a significant jockey booking.

Selection: Crown Dependency. Dark Horse: Silver Heels

3.05

I like Dorcas Lane but this is quite a step up in grade, Rumh and Banimpire are both reproduced quickly after winning in the last week, but I really like the look of Mick Channons Zain Al Boldan, he looked very impressive beating one of todays rivals, Field of Miracles by 6 lengths before struggling in the Oaks and Epsoms course, this should suit her better and if returning to the form before the oaks, she should have a good chance.

Selection: Zain Al Boldan

3.45

If Fame and Glory stays this distance he should win, what looks on paper a rather weak Ascot Gold Cup, but the horse I will be doing is Motrice, he looked useful last year and another year older and over this marathon trip he should be staying on at the end when others are faultering, as always Prescott remains a bit of an enigma but he can get them ready.

Selection: Motrice

4.25

This could well be the day for the bookies, with another very tricky race to try and work out, so I will be going with Kuala Limper, both horse and trainer are in great form, his first run over turf saw him win impressively, and to be quite honest, this race is so hard to fathom out, he has as good a chance as any.

Selection: Kuala Limper

5.00

Fewer runners but no easier to to pick a selection, Luca Cumani won this race last year and his horse Alkimos has a similar profile, he won nicely last time out against some useful sorts and looks to be improving. One at a big price is Auld Burns who started the season with a win, before disappointing in the last two runs, although his last run he had excuses as he hung quite badly and was hampered, if returning to form he may surprise.

Selection: Alkimos Dark Horse: Auld Burns

5.35

I give up, this is crazy..I was going to pick a Mark Johnston horse but he saddles about a million, so I have plumped for Aiden O Briens Apache, who won by 6 lengths over this trip last time out so we know he stays the trip, there are question marks about whether the others will stay, so Apache for me.

Selection: Apache

You may have noticed I have not chosen dark horses in every race today, this is due to some of my main selectoins being at big prices anyway.

Good luck all on a very tricky day.

Two winners for me today, Sagramor and Brown Panther, both at decent prices so very happy. Makes up for a not great first couple days. Really good ride from Jamie spencer I thought today on F&G, kept him calm and conserved his energy, then made a move at the right time. Great stuff

Tough day today, not much jumps out at me, so a few e/w shouts.

14:30 Sweet Chilli

15:05 Glen’s Diamond (touch opposition, but has won cash for me before, so will stick with him)

16:25 Circumvent (would have a chance on best form and price looks big to me.

17:35 Manassas (Paddy’s paying 5 places makes this a decent e/w bet)

I thought Manassas might run into a place, so for him to win at 14's is great stuff. I've been pretty lucky this week with some longer ones coming in. Out for beers this evening, will have a look at the cards in the morning and post up some stuff. Provisionally, there are rumours Elzaam (who I would have backed) might be a non-runner. If so Bated Breath looks appealing at 8's.

Labibs you are the light in a pretty dire week for selecting winners on this forum, still just one last day today and here are my horses to avoid

2.30

Maybe I am sure will have her supporters, but I prefer the merits of Falls of Lora, the last win was very impressive especially as the jockey lost his irons leaving the stalls. Stakes should be kept to a minimum here as it is unsure what effect the ground will have on any of these horses.

Selection: Falls of lora

3.05

Again Aiden O Brien will be looking for a winner here, but the form of Calvados Blues has taken a massive boost this week with the win of Rewilding and looks fair value at 12/1 another I like is Drunken Sailor, he won easily last time and has some good form on soft ground.

Selection: Calvados Blues 2nd Selection: Drunken Sailor

3.45

Bewitched looks a stand out bet in this, again his form has been franked this week with his win over Zoffany looking a good piece of form, he will have no problems with the ground and despite a skinny price looks good. I will be most annoyed if Kingsgate Native wins here after tipping him in the week, he has cheek pieces fitted and I may just have a couple of pound on him in case.

Selection: Bewitched Dark Horse: Kingsgate Native

4.25

Fergus Sings the Blues, Dignity, The Chocolate Girl, all classic Deacon Blue hits and hopefully this lightly raced four year old can be a hit for us today, the stable remain in ok form, the draw is a bit of a concern but he is a horse that travels well and today will hopefully be his day. One horse at a massive price I will also be doing is Cheveton, he has good form on soft ground and the urgings of Sylvester De Sousa, so I expect him to run well and at the least sneak a place.

Selection: Deacon blue. Dark Horse: Cheveton

Not very original but I like Modun, I backed him last time out when he won very nicely, this was surprising as Stoutes horses often need the run, he will have come on for that and will be very hard to beat. Of the remainder I think Taqleed if returning to form could run a big race, he is well regarded and has form on the ground , the stable are also in good nick.

Selection: Modun. Dark Horse: Taqleed

5.35

The defection of Overturn should make this a little easier to figure out but it doesnt, Deutschland should have no problem with the trip or the ground and without any fences to get in the way, he could run a big race. Of the others I have a sneaky fancy for Chink of Light, he is very lightly races, therefore unexposed, the trainer is in good form and the horse has some form on the ground....will probably fade, drop like a stone and finish last, but at the price worth a few pound.

Selection: Deutschland Dark Horse: Chink of Light

There you go fellas, our school summer fair today then off out for an out of season drink with my football buddies in Eastleigh

Lets hope for better today

The weather is playing havoc with my selections today!

I agree entirely with Frankie on the 16:25, have backed both DEACON BLUES and CHEVETON, the latter should love the mud. Paddy's again paying 5 places for this.

14:30 - I expect MAYBE to win, but the odds are too short for me, so no bet.

15:05 - I've opposed Await The Dawn as the price is too short. Instead gone for POET e/w

15:45 - Crikey what a race. I would have been with Elzaam who is now running, but I have concerns over the ground for him. I got on DEFINIGHTLY before Pricewise took the price away this morning, e/w. I also think Bated breath will run well.

17:00 I'm taking a chance on Sharaayeen in this one. I just think he might be a bit of a plot horse for this, looks like he has been put away for it. 8/1 is a decent price.

17:35 bit random, but I'm taking a chance on NOT TIL MONDAY in this one, e/w. He's reasonable over hurdles and since wearing a visor, has won his last two on the flat. Fallon on board, he will want to make up for missing out on the ride on VEILED earlier in the week.

Good luck everyone, I just hope the rain doesn't make it a washout!

Just Deacon Blues for me today then. Some great racing over the wk though, Fame & Glory was great and Frankie's ride on Rewilding was as good as you'll see anywhere. Still prefer jumps if I'm honest though!

I actually own a share in a horse due to start running in mid-July. I'll post it up on here if I think it's likely to win money for anyone! Cheers for everyone's tips, always useful to hear what other people are thinking.

Cheers
