what about the woulda/coulda/shoulda's....

those who should have made it to that list but for some reason..injury or what ever...never did

GAZZA

Lothar Matthius never seems to be mentioned as a great. I'd probably go for the '82 Brazil squad in the should have been great category as well

Baggio?

Del Piero?

Baggio i agree with, not Del Piero though, always thought he was over rated.

Cafu, you dont get 142 caps for Brazil and play in 3 world cup finals without being a great player.

alan shearer..had he signed for man u and contested regularly in the champions league...

christiano ronaldo...if he did not appear to be as greedy on the ball

Whats this fixation with The Champions League? 3/4 of the sides in it are mid table standard in the Premier League at best. The fact Shearer scored such a monstrous amount of goals without playing for Man Utd makes his record even more impressive. His goals record will stand the test of time which in my opinion puts him up there with THE very best strikers in history.

fixation with the champions league....it puts you up against the best players on the planet..not just your own country.

playing doing the business against the likes of barcelona means you are that little bit better...IMO

Name someone in the last season that has done "the business" as you put it against Barcelona. I stand by what I say. 75% of the sides competing in the Champions League are mid table Premier League standard as best. The 2 also rans from Spain every season, any team from France that isn't Lyon, pretty much any German side, any Dutch side, none of the Italian sides would finish top 4 in England (Obviously Inter would have under Mourinho). That's why I dont get it. It's over-rated and is only interesting when the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid play eachother.
