scotty Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 Answer ( courtesy of Mrs B ) : because God is a Citeh fan. Planes grounded at Manchester airport yet again, due to a dust cloud. A spokesman for Man Citeh apologised, "we had to open the trophy cabinet sooner or later"

badgerx16 Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 (edited) Why do kidney beans grown anti clockwise up a cane? Genetics. Some climbers will corkscrew clockwise in response to the movement of the sun, and will grow straight when grown in artificial light, ( you can also make them grow the other way if you move the light source ). Other plants are merely programmed to go one way or the other, and I suspect your beans fall into this category. It's probably something to do with growth promoting chemicals being either left-handed or right-handed - mirror images of each other but with differing effects. ( The same can be seen with the sugars, left handed sugar molecules cannot be digested by humans ). Edited 13 June, 2011 by badgerx16

Marsdinho Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 If Space is ever expanding, what is it expanding into? If the universe is infinitely big, then the answer is simply that it isn't expanding into anything; instead, what is happening is that every region of the universe, every distance between every pair of galaxies, is being "stretched", but the overall size of the universe was infinitely big to begin with and continues to remain infinitely big as time goes on, so the universe's size doesn't change, and therefore it doesn't expand into anything. If, on the other hand, the universe has a finite size, then it may be legitimate to claim that there is something "outside of the universe" that the universe is expanding into. However, because we are, by definition, stuck within the space that makes up our universe and have no way to observe anything outside of it, this ceases to be a question that can be answered scientifically. So the answer in that case is that we really don't know what, if anything, the universe is expanding into.
