Saint_clark Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Looks like we offered him a token contract then to ensure we'd get a tribunal fee for him.
S-Clarke Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Don't know why they want him tbh, he's not championship quality...yet.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Been rumblings of this for a while. I like Oscar, but don't think he'd be anything other than a squad player here.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 If he doesn’t wanna be on the bus he can **** right off imo
TheSaint75 Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 If he doesn’t wanna be on the bus he can **** right off imo maybe there aren't enough seats on the bus and he has been told to get on his bike in a round about sort of way?
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 be more than happy with gobern and danns going opposite ways
Beachcombers Windowsill Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 But if he goes, 90 Degrees' earnings'll go down by 70%.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 But if he goes, 90 Degrees' earnings'll go down by 70%. I thought he was suposed to have been to skint to go there the last time we heard.
CitySaint Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 I met him in the Orange Rooms with Ryan Tafazoli, not too of my best Saints spots.
scott_saints Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 The only player I've ever seen get the train home from a home game.
Macey_J2 Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Supposedly AOC gets/got the train to and from Port Solent for home matches
CitySaint Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 To continue my spots, during the season I see Chamberlain, Ward-Prowse couple of other academy lads get off the train every day at Southampton Central, the train from Portsmouth. Think it must arrive about 8.15 to platform 2. How very dull!!
Gordon Mockles Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Supposedly AOC gets/got the train to and from Port Solent for home matches Until he’s passed his driving test (if he doesn’t in fact have a driving licence, young enough to be borderline!) and bought a sensible low powered first car…a WAG mobile like a Merc AMG or a Range Rover Sport. The insurance will run into thousands but I’ll expect he can afford that with his top 4 club signing on fee! Oh, the tabloids making up stories again, filtered down by The Echo’s borrowed journalism hacks! Still, when he does go (which he will despite our good intentions contrary to the tried and tested anti-Lowe farmed player forumla for personal dividend support), he'll have a much deserved, juicy signing on fee! Nice work if you can get it. I expect Bale's moved onwards and upwards since his Mk4 Golf days living at the shabby Dell flats! (no offence residents but aren't they Barratts build? LOL)
Chez Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Supposedly AOC gets/got the train to and from Port Solent for home matches Long walk to Cosham or Portchester station from Port Solent. FACT
Chez Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Looks like we offered him a token contract then to ensure we'd get a tribunal fee for him. makes sense. Slight shame we didn't get to see a little more of him and played in the middle where he is more suited. He could of done with a full season out on loan last year. I still think he has similar attributes to Carlton Palmer, but I just didn't see a player that I could trust to run a midfield. At least not yet anyway.

RobM Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Don't know why they want him tbh, he's not championship quality...yet. It's the 'Yet' bit that bothers me. He clearly has talent, he has shown quality in spells, but he is still young and has a way to go. What's the point in investing millions in our academy if we're going to sell half-developed players so early on. If he clearly isn't ever going to make the grade, fine, but he hasn't shown that yet, even though he isn't the finished product.
del boy Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 If he doesn’t wanna be on the bus he can **** right off imo Seems quite a jump to this from "Dougie Freedman has made enquiries for Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner and Southampton winger Oscar Gobern"
Lighthouse Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 The way I see it, players who cast some doubts in League 1 aren't going to be anywhere near the quality we need to push for the Prem. Gobern and Seaborne are two such players. I'd be happy to see him move on TBH. I know he may come back and bite us in the backside, but that's football. We can't just hang on to everyone in the fear that they will come back and haunt us.
eurosaint Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Seems quite a jump to this from "Dougie Freedman has made enquiries for Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner and Southampton winger Oscar Gobern" Winger ? I only ever saw him play at centre midfield and am sure that he does not have the pace and/or trickery for a wide player !!
sambosa75 Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 I've heard after his performance away to Bournemouth they are going to turn him in to a defender.

SaintNeil90 Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Personally, considering how long it has been since they said they were offering him a contract. My bet is he isnt getting paid as much as he would like at Saints and therefore his agent has come up with this to turn around to Saints and say 'Come on then, how much do you really want him now Palace want him too, higher wages?'. In which case he can go to Palace, because I think he is dogs dinner anyway.
The9 Posted 12 June, 2011 Posted 12 June, 2011 (edited) Winger ? I only ever saw him play at centre midfield and am sure that he does not have the pace and/or trickery for a wide player !! He did play on the right of a midfield 3 at Brighton, but was with defence in mind, and doesn't make him a winger either. He'll be leaving unless no-one else wants him, pretty obvious it's unresolved because we've made a token offer of the same contract he was already on to guarantee tribunal money if he leaves, and he's trying to get something better. sidthesquid Posted 12 June, 2011 Posted 12 June, 2011 I've heard after his performance away to Bournemouth they are going to turn him in to a defender. I heard he was lined up for a role in Kung Fu Panda 3
Saint Fan CaM Posted 12 June, 2011 Posted 12 June, 2011 He's no winger. He's also not good enough to push Saints on. I would imagine he's a player that will be moved on to accomodate squad improvements.
astrasri Posted 13 June, 2011 Posted 13 June, 2011 I don't get this bit about the club moving him on or the club getting rid of half developed players from the academy...... he is out of contract (presumably it was the longest we were able to offer him at his age at the time). The club have offered him a new deal (again, presumably at less than he thinks he's worth) and so he is free to look around at all the offers flooding in for his services. There must be something that the club see in him, he seemed to be a strange selection over some of the other players for some vital games in the last part of the season. Maybe the finances are good enough, but with no guarantee of 1st team appearances and he feels there are more chances of that elsewhere.
david in sweden Posted 13 June, 2011 Posted 13 June, 2011 Don't know why they want him tbh, he's not championship quality...yet. there is very little "quality " at the bottom end of the CCC, just an instinct for survival. If he moves.. (likely)... then he may do " as well as " Blackstock, Mc Goldrick and Leon Best (however one can assess that ?)
