angelman Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 If they were law abiding, tax paying citizens and left any area as they found it i don't think most people would mind so much where they went/go. But they aren't and they don't, so thats why most people get real ****ed with them and the legal system that doesn't/can't hold them to account. Exactly. Even if they weren't tax paying, people would be more tolerant if they didn't rob and leave the place looking like a **** hole. Why can't they clean up after themselves? They seem to be moving my way - haven't had any on our place for about 15 years or so but got a funny feeling....!!!

Anyone who says we should have these sites well if so would you want these scum next to you.

Hatch Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Someone I work with, his next door neighbours had a load of stinking pikeys move into one of his fields. As the field was surrounded completely by a ditch, he just parked his effing great big combine harvester thing across the entrance and just refused to let them enter or leave. The pikeys ended up calling the police but he stood his ground. Eventually they all agreed to leave after about 2 days. Became someone elses problem. They, however, IMO deserve absolutely nothing, how could anyone who has such a blatent disregard to property and other people have the privalages they recieve ?? Disgusting really. Any other members of society that would carry out their misdemeanors would be locked up. Do you not agree ?

scotty Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Is there even a smidgen of jealousy here at their anarchic/free lifestyle? Just a smidgen? Yes, I'd love to be able to go and "grab" a girl of 12 and bang the living shlt out of her because my free and anarchic peers said it was ok, then nip out in my untaxed stolen motor to break into a few locals houses for beer money. That would be great.

scotty Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Thought as much. It does sound like a bit of a viscous circle though; treat someone like crap, but why be surprised when they behave like social outcasts? They are social outcasts, by definition. Their chosen social sphere is that of "travellers", they only have fellow travellers to socialise with. How can you build a social network of friends and neighbours when you only park up somewhere nearby for a few weeks and shlt in their fields? hamster Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Certainly not 'trying to be PC'. They don't tend tomdrive untaxed stolen vehicles by the way and I'm fairly certain that you'll find most burglaries are carried out by 'locals' known to the police. Apart from taking a dump in a field (who's never done that?) and leaving a bit of hardcore about, I reckon it's the cash in hand work ethic that riles many. That cash however does get spent and therefore re-enters the system.

I don't remember ever taking a dump in a field (not as an adult anyway), and it was reported that 15 tonnes of waste was removed from the New Forest (paid for by New Forest tax payers). Slightly more than "a bit of hardcore".

Hammie I reckon most reasonable people would be sympathetic to 'Travellers' if they were not so aggressive and/or actually tidied up after themselves. One of the things I can't quite fathom if they are true 'Travellers' they cant have a permanent address. How do they then register, tax and insure their vehicles? derry Posted 19 June, 2011 Share Posted 19 June, 2011 I can never understand once they are illegally trespassing on a site, the landowner just blocks them in. Rather than trying to get them out, stop them from getting out. They then can't lay their tarmac etc. When they have cleaned up, filled up and paid for the skips blocking the entrances they would be allowed to leave. Until then no access, they would soon think twice about squatting. Nice idea, but if they have the tools to do half the "jobs" they do, and days of being blocked in, I'm sure they would manage to get out again Someone I work with, his next door neighbours had a load of stinking pikeys move into one of his fields. As the field was surrounded completely by a ditch, he just parked his effing great big combine harvester thing across the entrance and just refused to let them enter or leave. The pikeys ended up calling the police but he stood his ground. Eventually they all agreed to leave after about 2 days. Became someone elses problem. Until the law bans them from trespassing they should be blocked in, the Police, HMRC, DVLC etc etc should then go through them with a fine tooth comb for any law breaking which in itself would act as a deterrent.
