Barney Trubble Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 I'm trying to set up the wireless broadband onto my new laptop. I can see the network connection that I want to connect to but it just won't allow me. It asks me for the 'network security key', which I have, but when I input this key, it still won't connect anyway. The security key is correct. The internet/wireless connections are working, as my existing laptop is working fine, I just can't get the new laptop to connect wirelessly. Any suggestions?
Crab Lungs Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Hmmmm.... whose the internet connection with? Have you checked on your router for the key and done all the other stuff like caps lock/case sensitive etc?
Barney Trubble Posted 8 June, 2011 Author Posted 8 June, 2011 Virgin media.....I have ensured the keys are input correctly, some lowercase, some upper and numbers etc. I have reset the router and tried to input the network security key again but to no avail. As I say, the older laptop is connected fine to the router[hence being able to post this] I just get the message 'Network security key mismatch'
Crab Lungs Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Try typing into your old laptop: 192.168.1.1 username: virgin password: password Then go to > wireless settings > pre-shared key That should be what you're looking for, let me know how you get on!
