Mr-G Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Matchday programme moved from local firm to pompey! please boycott it and dont buy it! http://tinyurl.com/6hrhunm
Joneth Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 The location of the printing company that does the matchday programme really isn't very high on my list of things to care about. In any case its probably cheap labour down there, what with them being used to getting ripped off by the skates.
Mr-G Posted 8 June, 2011 Author Posted 8 June, 2011 so it doesn't bother you that it's been taken away from a southampton company?
Prince Jazzbo Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 I've never trusted Mr G since I bought a TV from him in the 80s that kept breaking down.
Joneth Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 so it doesn't bother you that it's been taken away from a southampton company? Not really, thats life. It bothers me that Southampton FC are producing the best quality product in the most cost effective way. That applies to everything from players to programmes.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Portsmouth and Southampton are both in the same Southern Hampshire economic catchment area, so they'll still be classed as a local firm. Also, lets be honest its a competetive world out there.
Mr-G Posted 8 June, 2011 Author Posted 8 June, 2011 but the cedar group have been printing it for over 15 years
JustMike Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 but the cedar group have been printing it for over 15 years feel for them but business is business
The9 Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Well, I don't care on way or another - and by the way, we knew this a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it's another Cortese ploy to try and force people to buy things in the way he wants - in this case online programmes. Yeah, ok, maybe it's not...
PhilippineSaint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 but the cedar group have been printing it for over 15 years Would you boycott the Beano if they stopped printing it in Dundee???
Saint Fan CaM Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Hardly ever buy one so it doesn't really mean too much to me. It might mean something to the printing company when the Pimpley thugs find out and raid the premises to try to destroy something Saints related though.
stthrobber Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 I've seen this posted on Twitter as well. To be honest, I couldn't give a monkeys. If this firm does it cheaper than Cedar, then it's more profit for the club to invest in players and infrastructure. It's a non story for me. Local rivalry is one thing and I do understand it, being from Southampton and living in Cardiff, but I wouldn't avoid going to the Gower because I have to go through Swansea to get there.
dune Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 This is not a good reason to boycott the programme, but the hike in ticket prices on top of the £3 ticket tax is a good reason to boycott the programme.
trousers Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 but the cedar group have been printing it for over 15 years How competitive was their bid for the contract this time around? Being a well run company, as I'm sure they are, they'll be fully aware and appreciative of the competitive nature of the market place within which they operate. No doubt they've had the boot on the other foot when they've won contracts ahead of established firms in other bids. Business is about hard nosed negotiation not emotive ties.
Alain Perrin Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 From another thread.... bunch of whiners.. one day you will respect every decision NC has made. He's ambitious and very professional. something we have missed in our club for a very long time. Hmmmm

Depends if they got fully paid for the debts of the previous regime though ,if it wasn't the case and they'd remained loyal to the club in despite of it you'd have to think that this was a bit of a poor show even if the new regime owes nothing to the suppliers of the old regime.
Cestrian Saint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Shut up! Times are hard. Everybody is looking to save money wherever possible. Just be grateful it's still going to a company in the UK and isn't being produced in the far east like most things that are sold in the UK. I do wish people would put all their effort into supporting Saints rather than wasting energy worrying about bloody P*rtsmouth!
WRINKLY SAINT Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Having had dealings with Cedar do you think they bother where they buy from? They always use local companies(of course not)! They buy from any competitive source.
trousers Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Having had dealings with Cedar do you think they bother where they buy from? They always use local companies(of course not)! They buy from any competitive source. There you go. They are a shrewd business just like any other.
PhilippineSaint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 This thread is a joke, right? along with the other 90 odd threads that will appear between now and a game that has some Southampton players in it
Bourno Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Should we shun Chambo mechandise as he was made in Portsmouth? (this is said firmly with tounge in cheek)
Gemmel Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Totally stupid.... The only people to lose out would be the club. As an aside, I think I read on here that the new company actually orginated the ride side of Hampshire.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Half the people that built St Mary's were from Pompey, so I'm boycotting next season.
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 so it doesn't bother you that it's been taken away from a southampton company? Given we're Swiss owned why are we worrying about this?!?!?!
Saint-Armstrong Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Exactly, that's like saying Alex Chamberlain should never have been taken into our ranks because he was born down the other end of the M27. Stupid.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Matchday programme moved from local firm to pompey! please boycott it and dont buy it! http://tinyurl.com/6hrhunm Apparently they've asked NC for COD.
