bjk Posted 7 June, 2011 Posted 7 June, 2011 Right, who do you think we're going to begin life back in the championship against. Surely it's about time we won our first game. Derby County away.Win 1-0 Lambert pen. That will do me for starters.
Saint_lambden Posted 7 June, 2011 Posted 7 June, 2011 Doncaster Home. 2-0 win. Lallana, Schneiderlin.
Hamilton Saint Posted 7 June, 2011 Posted 7 June, 2011 Right, who do you think we're going to begin life back in the championship against. Surely it's about time we won our first game. Derby County away.Win 1-0 Lambert pen. That will do me for starters. Sigh. You'd think so. I've stopped anticipating this. I don't hope for this any more, as I've stopped referring to any Saints' fixture as a "must-win" game. Been burned too many times!
SNSUN Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Brighton at the Amex. Show them we are, in fact, better than them despite our previous season's standings, with a thumping 3-1 win to ruin their new ground's first fixture.
The Fat Controller Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Away to the Skates and win 2-0 live on sky - normal service resumed
St.Patrik Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Since we never win an opening game I go for Coventry away and a 1-1 draw
whelk Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 wow this could run and run until all possible predictions are selected - 400 + post There's inane close season banter but this takes it to a new level!
itchen_dan Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Leicester away. 3-1 defeat. Wrist slitters will be back in full force!
bpsaint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 West Ham away, lose 3-1. Oh and it'll be live on Sky, early Saturday kick - off.
Scudamore Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 wow this could run and run until all possible predictions are selected - 400 + post There's inane close season banter but this takes it to a new level! Just pick a damn team!
ericofarabia Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 West Ham away, lose 3-1. Oh and it'll be live on Sky, early Saturday kick - off. LOL ..... just what I was thinking but lose 1-0. Might as well get rid of one of the games we are likely to lose doubled up with the opening day and sky hoodoo rolled into one!!
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Right, who do you think we're going to begin life back in the championship against. Surely it's about time we won our first game. Derby County away.Win 1-0 Lambert pen. That will do me for starters. Would take that. Would love to get another one over on that lot. Personally, I think it will vs Leeds home. Draw 2-2.
toofarnorth Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Away to Middlesborough as i'm out the country. Obviously a win for the Saints though. 1-2
PokingFun Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Pompey at home, 10-0 win and the ruskies to pull out after an appalling mauling at the hands of their south coast (superior) rivals ....
trousers Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Pompey at home with Saints getting a bye due to the away side not being able to field 11 players
Dr Who? Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 One of the relegated teams at home. Birmingham home 1-3 loss.... well we are always rubbish at the start of the season, but there is a club record on it!!!!
suewhistle Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Well it won't be Pompey because the League make sure there are no derbies on opening day. Hope it's a home game as should be over, and I believe there's a midweek match at the beginning of the following week so maybe I'll make an away one as well. No predictions here as it'll only make me depressed.:-(
sandwichsaint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Is there a telly game on the Friday evening? Saints v West Ham on the Friday evening, big Sam debut, Saints newly promoted etc. 0-0 booooo.
benjamsandwich28 Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Leeds at Elland Road 2-3 Saints. Lambert, Lallana and Wes Brown
Bad Wolf Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Coventry away. 4-0 to Saints. Lambert (3), Lallana (47),(49), Fonte (90+5)
Rory Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 A self-confessed pessimist, but I am stupidly excited about next season. It actually feels like watching a true Saints side again, rather than watching some ramshackle team like last time out.
Toomer Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Pompey at home with Saints getting a bye due to the away side not being able to field 11 players Now that would be sweet:)
The9 Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Now that would be sweet:) Not to mention impossible : http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html
Trader Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 (edited) Whoever it is we won't win. It's the "Southampton Style". Edited 8 June, 2011 by Trader
Brussels Saint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 (edited) Coventry away. We'll win 1-0. Ostenstad will score. Dune, I was at that game! Wouild definitely accept it again. Edited 8 June, 2011 by Brussels Saint
LGTL Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Blackpool away. Win 1-0. Have a cracking weekend in August as opposed to the usual March date.
Simples Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 West Ham, away, 0-6 win to us. Hat-tricks from Owen and Tevez ;-)
sandwichsaint Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Coventry away. We'll win 1-0. Ostenstad will score. Dune, I was at that game! Wouild definitely accept it again. Me too, 'Dean-O, Dean-O, Dean-O' stand to be corrected but was that not his debut for Saints? And at the end (of the first game of the season) - 'Going down, Going down, Going down' and their mong fans all going nuts! Happy days, can't see that sort of atmosphere at the Ricoh this season.
scotty Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 skates at st marys, us 2 nil up at half time, game called off due to crowd trouble and subsequent pitch invasion. Brightons match was called off earlier that day as their new stadium failed a late safety check, so the seagulls fans had nipped up the M27 to catch the derby, then a pitched battle outside SMS involving brighton, skate and saints fans closed the entire Southampton area. Seven police helicopters and a squadron of mounted police failed to stop the carnage. As it was all broadcast live on Sky news, the whole of europe viewed it and Britain was summarily ejected from the EU. Wales announced an immediate referendum on leaving the United Kingdom, as did Scotland. The Union was terminated, and the scots immediately elected alex salmond and adopted the euro. If that doesnt happen, a quiet day and a one-nil win against the run of play away at birmingham. Guly to score.
St Marco Posted 8 June, 2011 Posted 8 June, 2011 Not to mention impossible : http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html Interesting read. Based on what he say's and if it is true then we will probably play Skatesville around boxing day. My prediction would be Burnley away as our first game. Based on our two squads as they are right now i think it would have draw written all over it.
Saints Warrior Posted 10 June, 2011 Posted 10 June, 2011 Skates 0 - 1 Saints. Get the season going with a massive win
