Liquidshokk Posted 5 June, 2011 Share Posted 5 June, 2011 Hang on, I thought it was decided that Ronan would win before the auditions even began? Simon decided he would be shown up too much so made ronan second so that he'll still be remembered as successful and can start a record contract. Wouldn't be surprised if the albums already created...

mickn Posted 5 June, 2011 Share Posted 5 June, 2011 Well a win/win situation for Mr Cowell then, must have been millions of extra viewers judging by this thread after that story, whether true or not, broke last week. So the lad will probably go on and make him (Cowell) a shed load of money. Who's to say that someone didn't engineer that story themselves? Deppo Posted 5 June, 2011 Share Posted 5 June, 2011 Actually, the Ronan stuff was leaked by Simon Cowell himself so that we wouldn't realise that Jai McDowell has been signed to Syco/Sony since he was 8 and HE was the one that they fixed to win. Ronan was just a pawn in the game. Shame, because she seemed like a nice little girl.
hamster Posted 5 June, 2011 Share Posted 5 June, 2011 I cannot but admire Simon Cowell, he is one of that elite group who really do make Britain matter on the big stage. People, in my humble opinion, who knock him should perhaps consider just how many people are employed as a direct result of his work, not just in his organisation either. Re this '2nd place phenomena', I thought it might be a British thing. That young opera singer from the stares was another second placer and she's sold platinum records; Susan Boyle is now more popular than ANY of our winners. Jedward are beating off work offers with a stick, Darius is iirc impressing on Broadway and Will Young has sold 5 times the amount of records as Garth Gates and still working in the industry. I don't really buy this conspiracy business but it is an interesting phenomena none the less. What I do think though, is that showcasing the opera singer was a masterstroke as she will be Tge first USA 2nd placer to crack the UK. Actually, I've never even heard of any of their winners for that matter.
Micky Posted 6 June, 2011 Share Posted 6 June, 2011 Normally a woman on an organ would probably appeal somewhat - but jesus, how bad was she.... and she was in the final...!! Total bollux.
sadoldgit Posted 6 June, 2011 Share Posted 6 June, 2011 Not usually my thing but the Diversity/JLS thing was excellent and should have been kept for the final. Bottom line as ever, we don't have to watch and we don't have to buy the records.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 8 June, 2011 Share Posted 8 June, 2011 Gutted that little Ronan didn't win tonight after such an incredible performance (3 incredible performances if you include his first audition and the semi-final). He has a beautiful voice and there's absolutely no doubt he's going to be a massive star in the future, probably bigger than Justin Bieber(!!!) and is nice to see a child who's so well spoken an polite. Also has a fantastic dress sense for someone of his age which I think adds to his appeal. I have voted for him a few times in the past week, but in hindsight it's probably the best thing for him that he didn't actually win. It'd be bad for him to have too much at such a young age (in a similar way to why A O-C shouldn't move to a big club just yet). Really fit as well. I would.
