NickG Posted 2 June, 2011 Share Posted 2 June, 2011 Out of interest, what are West Ham's main debts? Bank loans etc? "All the debts are football or bank debts secured on the stadium and training ground so there is no route via administration," Sullivan said. "West Ham really is a football club where the football and bank debts exceed the value of the club."
Sour Mash Posted 2 June, 2011 Share Posted 2 June, 2011 Cheers. They really do sound completely f******d, even more reason why they need to be back in the Prem, a bit more debt either way won't make a difference now!
mattyd Posted 3 June, 2011 Share Posted 3 June, 2011 West Hams bankers will want a repayment plan. They will have very limited spending power as they will otherwise go bust!
mattyd Posted 3 June, 2011 Share Posted 3 June, 2011 Pompey will take years to rebuild as will West Ham. Neither team will find it easy.
Rebel Posted 3 June, 2011 Share Posted 3 June, 2011 Norwich, QPR and Swansea look like they will do a brilliant job of weakening the the Championship contenders over the summer for us! Norwich are supposed to be after Snodgrass from Leeds, Bennett from Brighton, Morrison from Millwall and they've already got Vaughan from Palace in effect. Meanwhile Palace have taken Murray from Brighton in return! QPR are after McKail-Smith (that's if Norwich don't get him) along with Bullard from Hull/Ipswich. They must have a thing for blond mullets! And Swansea are after Graham from Watford! Leeds also look like they could lose Gradel, Johnson and possibly Becchio to the premier league! And I am certain that Bristol City will lose Maynard to the premier league, just like Reading will lose Shane Long and possibly Kebe and Mills as well. Cardiff have also lost Bothroyd with more set to follow him out the door!
PaulGilchrist_76 Posted 3 June, 2011 Share Posted 3 June, 2011 I think we will be difficult to beat at St Marys. We will start the season full of confidence and hopefully we can keep the momentum going. Away form is the key to achieving a playoff place or automatic promotion. This is where a few quality signings would help but the current squad is quite large at present and maybe there will be some departures. Perhaps a few surprises here? Saintandy666 Posted 3 June, 2011 Share Posted 3 June, 2011 Lots of big teams in the championship these days. It's beefed up since we were last in it, a lot more cash floating about now. Quality wise, it will be better than most countries premier division.

Paul Lambert is very decisive and likes to sort out transfers early to gel the team together. Saints need to take a leaf out of his book instead of frigging about all summer, missing out and panicking in August. If we carry on to form we will have our usual poor start to the season and our one aim will be survival.

So you are ignoring a number of media sources stating Saints have had a bid accepted by Chelsea for Jack Cork? For all we know Saints may have countless other bids in for players at the moment. This is first summer with Adkins - lets see if he can initiate a more postive start to the season. Dickson was first last season, signed 15 June Richardson was 7 July last year - early enough to get injured preseason! Guly was into August I think

sammysaint Posted 7 June, 2011 Share Posted 7 June, 2011 I think you can't decide yet it's all down to how the teams do in the transfer window and there pre season if by august the 3 that went down keep most of there players and don't have any real injurys there be the teams to beat, also I think Leeds will if they sell any players it will be for high money 3-4 mill and re invest it so they maybe a surprise top 2 this season. It's quite refreshing when "smaller" clubs get promoted to the PL and aren't bank rolled into buying excessively expensive foreign players. Gives English/British players a chance to play at the top, and that to me, is one of the biggest problems with the PL, and as a consequence the national side (which is really boring and dire). Sour Mash Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Probably a repost, but if this does happen it'll seriously show those that didn't fancy West Ham this year http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13781218.stm
Lighthouse Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Well, it would seem West Ham have nailed their colours to the mast. Spend big and get back into the Prem at all costs. Bit of a financial facepalm, but a great player at this level.

Bit of a financial facepalm, but a great player at this level. Its what I've said all along. You might think they can't afford to shell out a few more quid for some quality to get them straight back up (which is sort of true), but they seriously can't afford to spend more than one year outside the top-flight, especially with Stratford etc on the horizon. Armitage Shanks Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Really is a sh*t or bust approach from West Ham. Playing poker with the club and the fans.
Saint_Ash Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Decent signings, wonder what percentage of their income is going to be on the wage bill? Over 100% They'll be in a lot of trouble if they don't get promoted. All they need is a 3-6 month injury for Nolan and then what? Also with these additions I don't think they'll have the strongest squad, you need proven scorers at this level and I think they'll lose all their current ones in the next month or so, I think they might be the CC team trying to get Macail-Smith on high wages no doubt. Colbury Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 Can't see past West Ham as champions next year. Premier league manager signing premier league players. Nolan will be f*cking class next year. Dark Munster Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 I'm not all that worried about Pompey in and of themselves. However, I think it will be more difficult gaining promotion when we are in the same league. Remember when they played West Brom on 2005, I have no doubt they'd try the same stunt again (i.e. throw a match to a similarly-placed side) if it meant that we might lose a playoff spot. Of course they didn't cause our relegation in 2005, but it has been proven that their hatred of Saints is more important than results on the pitch to them. I doubt much will have changed. I don't doubt that they would love to. But, unless the Cheats are relegated by Christmas, I doubt they will have the luxury to be able to throw points away, since they will very likely be scrapping for points (in a vain) attempt to stay out of the bottom three.
