itchen_dan Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 It really is genuinely pathetic. Are FIFA really trying to take the p1ss?
dune Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 It's time for the sponsors to step up and deal with Blatter. His involvemen/ the corruption casts a cloud over their companies by association and it's the leaders of these global brands that have the power to bring about change.

They'll only do that if they feel their consumers will stop buying their products. Can you seriously see your average 15 year old punter in Croydon High Street not buying (or nicking) a can of coke just because Blatter is of debatable character? That would require a level of intelligence in said general public.....

Brand identity is very important and Coca-Cola's association with FIFA could potentially damage their associations with other companies too. Why would a company want to be associated with Coca-Cola when they are seen as backing a corrupt organisation such as FIFA? It's not just about the people buying the product in the shop.
swannymere Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 The only way to win this is through the sponsors, we need somebody to organise a petition and get every club forum to promote it in the UK, most posters will happily add their name to something online and then point it in the direction of Coca-Cola etc. Trying to reason with Blatter will get you nowhere, but the pressure from the sponsors might help.

If you really want to force the issue then just get every clubs forum to sign a petition saying that as consumers we will not purchase a product from any company that supports FIFA in its current form. That will do it, even if the majority just put there name to it, it is enough to show the big corperations that enough is enough.

Like I said on the other thread in gen Sports Don't need petitions in this day and age - Facebook brought down 3 Dictators it will kill Blatter's reign just as well
