TBF guys this wasnt a source from my dad, just rumers i have heard and S-clarke is spot on, dad moved on from the club some time ago now. I know as much as you guys do on this!

Was his moving on anything to do with his son spilling ITK snippets from him on fan's message boards?

The Mirror might print crap but many were happy to buy into the story about us signing Jack Cork which they printed earlier this week...

Which is strange as I cannot remember the last time the press knew about a Saint's signing before it happen. It's pure speculation, as I suppose with Oxo staying. I just hope he does as I would like to see a period of team building rather than all the chopping and changing we're had over many recent seasons (excluding the last one).

What you are saying is that people are far too ready to believe newspaper reports - a triumph of hope over experience.

Privately his Dad is pushing him to move on, a very pushy parent from what I understand......that is not to say he will or wants to go however!

Publicly his dad has been pushing for a move, but more of a way to get things going rather than a reaction to what is happening. At an early stage his contract conditions were made public for all to know, instigating the bun fight we now see. When it was reported that Oxo had agreed personal terms with Arsenal, Mark went very quiet, not a dicky bird.

Wenger could not agree a price with Cortese, so I really see little change from the position we were in last January when he ended up staying. The lad has had no chance to get any club prepared to go above their previous valuation and that would only happen once he puts himself in the shop window of the Championship. Oxo may well have agreed personal terms again with Arsenal, but it means little if Wenger is not prepared to pay the going value from what Cortese can enforce. Personally I look at Arsenals needs and the talent they already have and I cannot understand Wenger paying top whack for Oxo, not yet anyway. It would not surprise me if a similar situation exists with ManU.

So unless a team can come up with the money and Oxo wants to join them, I believe he will just stay with us, keep his head down and be an asset to us on the pitch. We will have to deal when we get down to his last contract year, but the lad will be doing his development no harm in the Championship. If Oxo lives up to his hype, he will be gone in the next January window if teams upgrade their valuation of the player.

But from the Chamberlains point of view all it takes is one really bad tackle which isnt out of the realms of possibilities and AOC's star might not shine as bright.

A £12m move to someone would effectively set him up for life at 18.

Agree with this - the siren call of the big clubs is falling on deaf ears. Even if he's 'kept against his wishes', Oxo has evey incentive to do well for us as he is still an unknown quantity and must prove himself. (maybe that's what his dad is scared of? of course, there is the risk of injury etc) After all, the idea that the CCC would harm someone's development is total boll*cks: a number of the current U-21 team (and quite a few are over 21) are plying their trade in th NPC or recently played there -and they were arguably further advanced in their careers than Oxo is right now.

Well looks like Arsenal are about to sign winger Gervinho.

This is why I have not for one second believed he is going to arse. Wenger has some serious work to do and a very tight budget with which to do so. He needs to focus on players who will be getting him some silverware next year, rather than spaffing £10 Million + another young whippet who will be running around in the reserves.

seen this vid on the mirrors website..

they were just talking about arse on SSN... no mention of AOC.

Some of the Arse fan's comments here are interesting

That video instantly reminds me just how exciting this player is, and how important it is we keep him.

Good! Hands off Wenger!

Sorry dont agree with this - this is always pushed by thos only interested in spinning the move - agents and the like, media with an interest etc.... All players have insurance and you can bet that players such as Oxo will have had a pretty valuation increase recently - if not, then his dad is not 'looking after the boy' - He is just as likely to have a bad tackle at any club - makes no difference whether at saints or with six months salary at Arsenal....

If his insurance valuation is too low, then its down to his advisors to ensure the club have a good value in his contract... but to say the 'career ending tackle' is a reason to justify a move is agent speak, nothing more.

Disappointed in his father for speaking to the media so much....does he really think this is going to impress Nicola? Unless he has been told to so things speed up.

We can be confident we'll get a good deal. I don't believe any of this fee based on achievements business i think it will be a lump fee and a big sell on or slightly lower and player/s in return.

Henri Lansbury would be nice.

I think in the past Lowe in particular managed to get good deals but they were often based on add ons because each club gave and took a little. We were never in a position where we could hold onto our prized assets so if they were going to go then we at least tried to get the best deal for them.

Now however we are in a completly different situation. Why do we need to sell? If the player wants to develope it will do him no good sulking and refusing to play for the remainder of his contract as by that time he could have missed out on any success at all. we are in a position to be able to afford to pay a player for sitting around doing nothing while his career goes down the pan too so hardball would not be the wisest career move for anyone wishing to leave our club.

So with us having no need to sell and the player not holding all the aces it comes down to the buying club. What are they going to offer? We dont want to sell so it has to be an offer that would tempt us, we are not interested in securing payments at later dates or run the risk of not making the full payment because the buying club dont play the lad for the required amount of games and so on. So the only offer that would tempt us would be one that benifits us more than the buying club. If the Arse want him then they are going to have to pay up or leave it IMO. If Manu U want him then its the same for them.

I do believe he will more likly be gone this window but I just cant see it being on anything less than our terms.

But then he won't be at Arsenal which is what his Dad at least believes is what is best for him.

What his Dad thinks is best is ££££££.

He won't be on much more at arse or any other club than with us if he isn't playing because the big bucks would only arrive once he started playing and earning appearance fee's. His vocal father is merely spinning the press to try and get him more dough be it here, or elsewhere IMHO.

You don't have a clue if that is the reason. That's potentially pretty offensive unless you know his dad personally? I would imagine his lad's development is at the top of his list of priorities and if he believes he is better served going to Arsenal, that is what he bl*ody will do!

It's funny that outside the club people think he's our best player.

I'd put Lallana, Fonte and Schneiderlin ahead of him in importance to the team right now.

Probably true, but he is capable of turning draws into wins with a bit of magic or a burst of pace. His contribution could be the difference between mid-table and promotion. Having 2 really good widemen really stretches the opposition too.

How would we all feel if any deal with Arsenal included getting Theo Walcott back on loan for the season (or half season)?? Anyone changed their vote from No to Yes?

You heard it here first.

Make of it what you will. (I believe that is the in-phrase) :)

Why on earth would they agree to that?

Have you forgotten that Walcott is an Arsenal regular, current England player and 5 years older/more experienced than Alex? Why on earth would he go out on loan in the Championship?

Because he has always wanted to play in the same team as Owen.

His heart dosn`t seem to be with Saints by the sounds of things i say take the big money now and build a good Championship side with the funds. His dad has his head turned with the bright lights and money of the big time, too soon in my books but hey ho onwards to the promised land.

Shame really, would have loved to have had him stay a bit longer.

Still, as long as we've got the lad who makes Messi looks sh1te, we've got a chance! :)
