L1Minus10 Posted 8 June, 2011 Share Posted 8 June, 2011 Wes Brown is off to Sunderland so we can write him off. Macheda on loan and Nicky Ajos. Is that Amos the keeper who played for Oldham against us and let in 6 including one that went in his mouth down inside and out through his ass. Yeah, I can see why we'd want him to compete with Forecast for the 3rd keeper shirt.

Sour Mash Posted 8 June, 2011 Share Posted 8 June, 2011 Lol at all the arrogant comments on there A few, but also a lot of sense. Silly price-tag (however true it may or may not be) and he's not really what Wenger's priority should be right now. hughieslastminutegoal Posted 9 June, 2011 Share Posted 9 June, 2011 He's earning about 10 times what I was at 17, even if he's only making £1k a week. I suspect he's on more than that however, so i'm sure he can manage. There seems to be this belief that when you earn a lot of money you have to spend it right away - this isn't true. Footballers could save their money the same as any of us. I don't see what you were earning as a 17 year old has got to to with him making a decision about his future. When you were 17 it probably wasn't possible to take a decision that might mean for a few years easy work you'd never really have to work again, and could even virtually guarantee that should you get badly injured. To me its a no brainer. He's a pro footballer, not a died-in-the-wool fan. And it is a lot easier to save when you are on 10x the money.

SNSUN Posted 10 June, 2011 Share Posted 10 June, 2011 Sad if true, looked a great player last season and will be better than Walcott imo, but 12 million and no doubt future incentives is tough to turn down. Most Saints fans will be disappointed but I have a feeling we'll pull a couple of great signings out the hat to replace him. Could this make Arsenal look at us more favourably with regards to loans? CB Saint Posted 10 June, 2011 Share Posted 10 June, 2011 12m for a 17 yr old unproven in the perm- that is a great deal for us. Would have loved to have seen him play for us in the prem but all players have a price, selling club or not. Anyway, him and Theo may be back at saints when NC delivers the vision and we replace arsenal as one of the four contenders for the champions league

aintforever Posted 10 June, 2011 Share Posted 10 June, 2011 It was naive to think he wouldn't go. Even though I think he would probably develop better playing first team football for a couple more seasons as a pro you have to take these opportunities when they arise. £12mill cash would be good business, especially considering Leibherr only paid around 15 for the whole club. Saint_Ash Posted 10 June, 2011 Share Posted 10 June, 2011 Here's hoping all 12m is available to spend. 12m plowed into 3-4 players would make us such a better team than with just Oxo and I would be very confident of making top 6 if spent well. If he goes for that then decent business.
saintjay77 Posted 10 June, 2011 Share Posted 10 June, 2011 Last transfer window there were reports that he had gone and was at the arse training ground and so on so it wouldn't surprise me if it all turns out to be balls again. That said I didn't expect him to go last window but fully expect him to be gone in this one. Only reason he will still be here at the start if next season will be if interested clubs are not willing to play ball and agree to our terms. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the fee, if not all, will be up front and very little based on appearance's for club and country like Theo's was. If so then it's a fantastic deal for us and the money will come in handy to build for a push to the prem and also help build a future team of our own grown team. Our under 16's now will be the players that are trying to break through into our future prem team. The youth coaches have their work cut out to realise NC's vision of a new Barca in a few years time but some of that money coming in along with any investment already planned should help loads. Oh I think you can bank on it. NC will not accept 50% of a fee then wait for 50 appearneces for another bit and an England cap for the rest. Remember Cortese is a proper businessman, he doesnt do this football version of business where half a fee is based on ifs, buts and maybe's !
