And your point is? What's their average salary a week? What's their average value on the transfer market?

Harry was right....we are one place outside the relegation zone and our survival is dependent on whether there are worse (financially and footballing) teams than us.

We've won matches with kids too. Ajax have won loads of stuff with kids (although not in the past few years). It a cliche that doesn't always work but if we lose its something people like to use anyway.

I thought it was Harry

It was AH after Man Utd had a dodgy start to some season in the last century, but then went on to win the league. The same season that Keegan last the plot and had his live "love it" rant.

With a team full of the Ars youth we would probably win this league.

Yes, but were competing on a different level then Arsenal aren't we. We'd probably win the league with any of the PL teams. Well, maybe not Spurs ;)

Anyway, what the initial poster meant is that the age of a team does not stop a team from performing at the highest level so why should it stop our youngsters from performing in the championship? I short, it wouldn't It would be the quality of our youngsters (or players in general) that determine that.

Worth resurrecting this thread - briefly. We now know that the Arsenal team that beat Fenerbahce 5 - 2 on Tuesday night had an average age of 22. That seems to disprove the thinking behind this thread - which is presumably intend as a criticism of Poortvleit. The Arsenal result doesn't mean Saints can do the same, but its quality that counts, not age. Anyone recall where the experienced Saints team of last season finished in the league?

The Saints squad needs better players, not older ones, and younger players have the capacity to get better, which older ones do not. I wouldn't turn down an experienced FB or two in January, but this squad will get better.
