Whitey Grandad Posted 29 May, 2011 Share Posted 29 May, 2011 Strictly speaking an acronym should make a new word, such as radar or laser. Otherwise it's just an abbreviation or an initialism. Whitey Grandad Posted 29 May, 2011 Share Posted 29 May, 2011 Are these any use? http://www.trygve.com/personalsglossary.html HTH
Deppo Posted 29 May, 2011 Share Posted 29 May, 2011 Why does this person need to learn acronyms to text? If you'll forgive me, hamster, I think it sounds like a bloody stupid idea. The person shoudl just be allowed to text in a language that is comfortable to them, rather than imposing a new idiolect upon them. Texting isn't meant to be something daunting that you can only do if you fit the linguistic criteria. It s for everyone to do how they want to.
