benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Why do lots of black people "support" Arsenal? Serious question - whenever Arsenal are on Sky there are many more black men in pubs than there usually is. Does anyone know why this is?
ibizasaint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I am surrounded by Barca fans and can assure you that they incredibly smug about football/ Messi etc...after the success of Spain in recent times and Barca's rise i want Utd to win to remind them that football isnt all gravy.....my experience of football as a Saints fan is that its mainly suffering with moments of delirious happiness, not the other way round.

whelk Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 With odds of 4-1 in a two horse race you'd be mad not too. 3 horse If you want to bet teh 2 horse ie to lift the cup utd are 13/8
benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 The "Ian Wright" generation............ Is that it? There must have been other good black players playing then too.

Does anyone know why this is? maybe you're just racialist and prefer only to see the black men. when you go to battersea dogs home do you only see the mongrels too?
benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Are there many pedigrees in Battersea dogs' home? You could make a bit of £££ buying and selling if there are.
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I would like Manu to win, atleast they try and play football the right way by actually going after teams, plus I wouldn't mind seeing Barca knocked off their pretty perch, not that I think Manu are better, which they quite clearly aren't. This season they must have had the worst team they have had for ages.

Serious question - whenever Arsenal are on Sky there are many more black men in pubs than there usually is. Does anyone know why this is? You're right and I've noticed this as well. I'd imagine it's because over the last 15 years or so they've had a higher percentage of black players that they can identify with but that's just a guess.
ibizasaint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Barcelona are better than Saints though. Barcelona are better than saints? but we have Lallana. They have only got Messi. After having watched all their triumphs with my Barca mates I wouldnt mind them come acropper against an English team. They dont hesitate to wind me up about their recent glories so would be nice to see them experience the sharp end for a change.

benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I would like Manu to win, atleast they try and play football the right way by actually going after teams Eh? What do Barca do?
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Eh? What do Barca do? Yeah, they do aswell, I was more going down the route that I don't actually mind Utd too much compared to other english teams that seem to be developing this f*cking gay try not to lose first mentality.
benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Yeah, they do aswell, I was more going down the route that I don't actually mind Utd too much compared to other english teams that seem to be developing this f*cking gay try not to lose first mentality. Oh right. I agree - I'll be gutted if Birmingham or Stoke win tonight.
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Oh right. I agree - I'll be gutted if Birmingham or Stoke win tonight. Me to, I might put a sneaky bet on Stoke though, and I hope Kenwyne breaks his leg.
benjii Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Me to, I might put a sneaky bet on Stoke though, and I hope Kenwyne breaks his leg. I hope Pulis chins Guardiola. Actually, I hope Mourinho scores a human-goal then kung-fu kicks a swathe of terror across the whole Barca dug-out. Lowe out!
trousers Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Daft question. I'll be supporting the English side. Obviously.
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I hope Pulis chins Guardiola. Actually, I hope Mourinho scores a human-goal then kung-fu kicks a swathe of terror across the whole Barca dug-out. Lowe out! Nah he will get sinbinned, and then they will have a free bowl, not worth it.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Yes, always prefer an English team to the cheating foreign c*nts.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I want Manure to lose because imagine how smug all those plastics will be if they win.
Saint Mikey Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 You're right and I've noticed this as well. I'd imagine it's because over the last 15 years or so they've had a higher percentage of black players that they can identify with but that's just a guess. Racist. I don't actually really cares who wins, I would like to see a good game though and no diving, surrounding refs etc.
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Not me Anyone else I would, but Barca are my 2nd team.
doddisalegend Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 When saints are in the champions league final I'll give a f uck, quite frankly couldn't care less which teams wins.
doddisalegend Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Barcelona are better than Saints though. pah as the song goes.......... Adam Lallana he makes Messi............
VectisSaint Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I said 'tonight' you mong! Its always night in some part of the world, especially Wiltshire, you mong with brass knobs on!
St Marco Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Those saying the pl is rubbish or been poor this season etc i simply don't understand.... I hate Utd with a passion but by that logic the teams in europe this season have been poor too seeing as Utd got to the final with ease including beating spanish sides twice? Personally i think the pl has been much better this year as more teams can beat each other. I'd rather have that then La Liga where the top 2 in 76 games lost just 6 times between them.... I imagine if we had that as our main league the hatred for teams like utd would be much higher! That said i don't want Utd to win because i am english, i want them to win because i got a free £10 bet from skybet on them to win at 3/1!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Close run thing - Utd are British...Barca despite their cheating ways, represent a more sustainable football world and one which supposedly Saints are following to an extent by nurturing home grown youth players. I think to be honest, I will find myself siding with Utd - it's their day - we'll be beating them again in a 2-3 seasons.
View From The Top Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 funnily enough I have started to see a lot of nippers wearing barca shirts. I hate seeing local lads here in Brighton wearing Man Utd shirts - I always tell them to go buy an Albion shirt. But if they must wear a 'big' club shirt I would still rather they wear a Man Utd shirt than a shirt from a country they probably can't even place on a map. My nipper has a Barca shirt as do nearly all of the nippers who play in the same team. Messi is a demi-god to the kids. That said, he also has AC Milan, Benfica, Anderlect, Athletico Madrid and PSG shirts or shorts.
View From The Top Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 According to my 9yo Barca have to win as none of the Utd fans at school go to games and aren't, therefore, proper fans. Good lad.

Well, Chelsea have certainly been poorer and Schalke are mid-table. Look at the top 6 in the Prem. All have been weaker this season than last with the exception of Man City.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 (edited) The more money, clubs like United and Spurs make, the bigger the divide between them and us, which ultimately means it will be harder for us to hold on to our young assets like Chamberlain. Take European finance away from the big 4 levels the playing field. So, for Saints fans, cheering for Barca makes perfect sense (plus they can play). Edited 28 May, 2011 by Fitzhugh Fella
SFC Forever Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I love the way Barca play and Messi is so bloody good he must be related to God himself. (no blasphemy intended) United time and time again get away with really bad fouls and then win games they shouldn't have because the player hasn't been penalised or sent off for the foul.

SFC Forever Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Guess that means I will be breaking the habit of a lifetime and supporting the away team.

Dr Who? Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 Guess that means I will be breaking the habit of a lifetime and supporting the away team. So Man U it is then, as they are the away team in this game.

Saintandy666 Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I want the premiership to be the biggest and best league in the world. Therefore, I want United to win.
doddisalegend Posted 28 May, 2011 Posted 28 May, 2011 I want the premiership to be the biggest and best league in the world. Therefore, I want United to win. I want the PL to crash and burn and to go back to the days of divison 1,2,3,4 with shared gate money so that we teams compete on a fairer footing with one another...........
