To balance up the tea thread, heres one for coffee drinkers.

At home, Gold Blend, when I'm out and about, quite partial to a Costa americano.

Used to have a percolator in the kitchen, but the mrs hates the smell, and the jug mysteriously broke...

At home - we've got one of those Del Gusto machines. Pretty good stuff and the iced coffee is the closest we've found to the iced coffee served in Greece.

Never go to any of the coffee chains when out but, if we can find an independent coffee shop, it's always a latte with an extra shot.

Let's hope she never gets bored of your man odour, you could find yourself meeting an untimely end

I'd usually go for coffee over tea.

At home Nescafe Gold blend. At work a skinny latte or a mocha if I'm treating myself.

It's happened to me plenty of times, the manufactory will sell you a replacement jug if you ring them up.

Coffee over tea anyday of the week for me. Must be black and strong.

Gold Blend is clearly the connoisseur's choice but if you want something truly refined try Gold Blend Reserve Especial. It comes in a jar with a black lid and sometimes you can upgrade for free if you collect enough cereal packets.

I loved Costa coffee, and I have a points card with them. There is now one in my local Tesco, and I always stop at Blyth services on my way up and back from the Manchester office. Latte, or a Gingerbread Latte for me. I have a costa cup and wish they sold Costa merch as I would buy the lot!!

Do not drink much coffee at home but normally Gold Blend for me.

Two heaped sppons of Nescafe. Two heaped spoons of sugar, fill 3/4 full and top up with cold milk.

Cured my 20 cups of coffee a day habit & now have one max two.

Occassionally treat myself to a Double Shot Latte at the M3 services on the way to Heathrow or Startrucks.

But in Thailand - Iced Latte all day long or the little cans of Iced coffee you can buy

Are they the ones with the widget in to cool them down? Got those in Greece but never ever found them in the UK.

Refined instant coffee is an oxymoron

I saw widget heat up themselves ones in Service Stations in UK but never the cool down ones.

In Thailand Birdy is the brand but can also find Nescafe. We get Nescafe cans here - smaller than a Red Bull but much more refreshing

In most Food Courts/Tourist trap cafes you have the Nestle Iced Coffee in one of those old fashioned Orange Squash type mixer/cooler thingys

As an aside.

I was shocked to find out that the spiritual home of coffee AND the location of Mocha was an actual place in

You'll never guess...........

yep

Yemen.

Seriously, not Brazil, fecking Yemen.

http://www.cw-usa.com/coffee-reviews-yemenmocha.html

Found out when flying on Yemenia Airways to Sa'naa years ago & they gave you a mini pack of coffee instead of a washbag - cool

And the actual original home of coffee is?

yep Ethiopia & Sudan. Being developed by the Yemeni's and spread across Arabia and then to Italy...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee

Coffee has played a crucial role in many societies. The energizing effect of the coffee bean plant is thought to have been discovered in the northeast region of Ethiopia, and the cultivation of coffee first expanded in the Arab world.[3] The earliest credible evidence of coffee drinking appears in the middle of the 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen in southern Arabia.[3] From the Muslim world, coffee spread to Italy, then to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia, and to the Americas.[4] In East Africa and Yemen, it was used in religious ceremonies

Now an "Arabic" coffee in the Gulf States is absolutely vile, served in mini cups with a huge heavy dollop of roasted Cardamon seeds added. As you go more north into Jordan Egypt Syria Lebanon then you find the prevalence of Turkish Coffee.

Trust me - you never need Red Bull if you can get a Turkish.

Oops Sorry Turkish COFFEE

I have a Costa addiction too.

I buy the Costa Coffee beans from the shop (it's terrible value compared to other beans - but that's an addition for you) then my expresso machine grinds them and makes me Costa coffee any time I want it.

When I'm not having a nice cup of tea that is.

I have a Nespresso Citiz with a fantastic milk frother on the side great choice of coffees too with a great Crema. I also have a Bialetti stove top coffee maker so I can get my fix of different coffees especially Delta from Portugal.

The most Narcotic coffee I have produced in the Bialetti is Tesco's Finest Java & Sumatran one spoon too many had quite a pleasurable effect!!!

Did you honestly think it was coincidence that they're called Arabica beans?

People are having a laugh about Gold Blend surely ?

I was thinking the same.... Why would anyone choose to drink instant over any of the proper coffee options that don't take a lot longer to prepare..

I use a bioletti hob coffee thingy, or a mini caffetiere, which only takes 5 mins to prepare....

As for coffee, has to be lavazza at home (although often experiment with some fair trade coffees) and Starbucks preferably when out but costas not far behind...

Cafe Delta is a world of amazing, mind you i'm fairly sure it should be classed as a narcotic since two of those are worse than speed for a buzz! There's actually a nice little portuguese coffee shop on shirley high street that makes it the way it should be made (like rocket fuel).

I had looked at the Nespresso since they came out years ago, then my Boss got a Citiz for our trade show stand it was so easy to use and with the frother was excellent. I made an excuse to take it home and clean so I could run it past the Missus, the frother sold it to her (as it did friends).

It is very easy to use and clean, living in Basingstoke the water up here is super hard so we put the water through a Brita filter which I am certain will make it last longer. The coffee you have to order and the choice is more than enough to make Espresso Cappuccino Latte even frothy Iced Coffee. The delivery service is very quick, and the coffee works out at about 30p per cup.

I think there are 2 companies making the Citiz with Milk, Krups and Magimix, they are exactly the same machine out of the same Swiss factory ( which says a lot for how good they are) just cosmetics. The work one is Magimix the one I bought is Krups.

You want nice quick easy proper coffee I can recommend it, most shops selling them have a demo model JLP in Southampton have one. See it working and decide.

Black coffee with no sugar for me so no way I can drink instant. I have one of these bad boys http://www.johnlewis.com/cuisinart-dgb900bcu-grind-and-brew/p230880816 and it's brilliant

Me too! I inherited it from my tea drinking parents when my faithful Krups machine finally died. They barely ever used it. The Cuisunart is good, it makes good coffee and it's very quick, and the timer is a useful function for a shift worker like me because I can have it ready for when I get up at 3am. The grinder is noisy though, so I don't use it anymore. Just use filter coffee in it now.

What is it about American Hotels? they give you a proper filter coffee machine and coffee bags that make possibly the worst coffee EVER

You are commenting on my exact experience RIGHT NOW as I type this. urrggh

Its just that the Yanks drink weak coffee. Use only half the amount of water that they say and its usually fine.

Got one on line last night from hotukdeals for £35 delivered.... coming Monday. For the price, it looks an absolute bargain. Reviews look good, too.

Thanks for that I have just ordered one - I was in JL recently and they were handing out tasters this was superb!

I have a Phillips Senseo machine which uses the pod coffee bag things. I also have a Coffee Duck which converts it to use loose coffee grounds. Machine cost £25 during a sale and the Coffee Duck was about 8 quid. If I use the pods I use the ones Lidl sell as they are £1.89 for 18 pods compared to nearly £4 for the Senso ones.
