These idiots, droning on about it being the biggest match of the year....to who? not me, I hope Barca hammers those arrogant sh1tes. I suspect Reading and Swansea made have a different take on the 'biggest' match suggestion.

bet it is the biggest match of the year in terms of prestige and audience

If you think United are arrogant you really know nothing about Barcelona do you? That said, I really hope they wipe the floor with United. Have them in an accy.

Starts at 3.30am here. ********. I thought the point of moving the final to a Saturday was so that they could start the game at a time that made it easier for both the Americas and Asia to watch.

Nope. It was moved to make it more accessible for families. Hence why it is on a Saturday (Although the ridiculous prices probably put off just about every family interested).

Doubt it, I expect Manure to win quite comfortably, provided the ref is up to scratch that is.Barca are a dirty side who conceal it well, United will be too powerful for them.

That's assuming they'll get anywhere near the ball sometime this evening

I have to admit Utd have done well this year to get to the final and win the Premier league considering it seems like their 'weakest' team for a few seasons. The only way I see them beating Barca are balls over the defence for their pace players to latch onto.

I like Barca as a club but can't stand this team due to the sheer amount of diving and play acting they do. When clearly they don't need to do it as they are so much better than everyone else.

arsenal beat them

because barce played badly that night. If they play badly again tonight then Man U have a good chance. If Barce play well they'll win, like when they completely outclassed Arsenal last year winning 6-3, and Arsenal only got a 2-2 draw in the leg at the Emirates last year because Almunia pulled off 5-6 excellent saves in the first 30 minutes of that game.

More importantly how come Carrick is getting a game?? Looks like they've got their reserve midfield out tonight. They must have someone better than Carrick surely!!

to be fair...nearly 100% of the worlds CMs would struggle against that lot...they would beat probably all of the world national teams....bar their own as they pretty much are their national team

Indeed. I would have played Scholes before Carrick. I still cannot believe Manyoo bought him in the first place. When he got booked he looked like a Sunday League player, his timing was that bad.

Valencia should've been sent off for persistent fouling, how his two-footed challenge went without a booking I will never know.

Man Utd's goal was offside.

Barcelona are the best team in the world, quite frankly one of the best ever.

United won't be able to get the ball off them. An easy Barca win, United are poor enough as it is away from OT.

As predicted. An absolute masterclass. The best team the world has ever seen.

What I mean is that it's impressive to watch, but tends to make for fascinating games rather than exciting ones.

Yes, I agree with that. I guess due to the fast-paced nature of the EPL and FL, we're kind of football's adrenaline junkies. Exciting games please!

If there has been a better European team in the 40 years I've been watching football I've must have missed them because this Barca team are simply outstanding. Messi gets the headlines but Xavi is totally unplayable.

The contribution made as ever by Iniesta is wonderful,he often gets overlooked.

And they call Rooney a world-class striker? He's good but compare his performance with Messi's and he pales into insignificance.

Mind you, having the Barca midfield supporting you helps. Too many old men in the Man U team now.

thought rooney did quite well......

put him as the striker in the barca team and he would not look out of place imo

To be fair Barce did not play bad when they lost to Arsenal this year..I was at the game and for 75 minutes Arsenal chased shadows.

Arsenal's first goal was good but against the run of play and they went at Barce for the final 15 like Utd did for the first 10 last night.

Barcelona were on a different plane to Arsenal and, IMO, those two games derailed their season as they suddenly realised their slick passing game was not a patch on Barcelona's movement and work ethic. Just like they did to Utd last night Barcelona made Arsenal look very very very ordinary in both legs.

It doesn't surprise me that Guardiola has built a team like this as he was an integral part of Johan Cruyff's fantastic Barca side. He seems to have taken Cruyff's football philosophy to another level.

The Dutch played total football, but in an era when the pitches were heavy, the opposition were allowed to clog you,the ball was lighter, and the players weren't quite so fit. Cruyff used to take similar positions as Messi does now, and although Barca move the ball a lot quicker than Holland and Ajax used to you can see the similarites. It is total football for 2011 (as oppossed to the Championship version last seen in 2008/09). Without a shadow of a doubt they're the best club side I've seen in watching 40 years of football.

The sad thing is that had Iniesta, Xavi and Messi turned up at a lot of English club's at 14, they'd have had the arm round the shoulder and a "sorry son, you're just not physical enough".

very good point..just had talksport on in the car and one caller phoned in and said the victory last night was an apology to football and all the kids that got turned away (in england) for not being physical enough.....

however, it is true that messi was dosed up to the eye balls when he was a younger barca player with growth hormones etc...I wonder what reaction that would get over here..

Spainish football does have uncomfortable murky areas when it comes to drugs. Dont forget that Guardiola himself tested positive for Nandrolone during his playing career.

Their model was put into place by Cruyff and is a copy of the Ajax system.

They focus on ability and teaching kids to love the football and all of the teams, from the youngest to the 1st team, play 433 and with the same philosophy.

You reckon? Plenty of not particularly physical players have came through the ranks of English clubs. On the basis that they looked as good relatively speaking at 14 as they do now they'd be snapped up straight away.
