alpine_saint Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 That genocidal c**t Mladic has been arrested in Serbia. Shoot the f**ker.
bridge too far Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 I see he's going to be tried in The Hague. I was lucky enough to work on a contract in Bosnia to build a high security court and prison for the trial of war criminals. I guess he's too high profile to be tried there? Whilst it is fantastic that he's going to face justice at long last, the cynical side of me wonders if they timed it deliberately to rubberstamp their EU membership

I was unlucky enough to have served in Bosnia and seen first hand the devastation, destruction and ethnic cleansing that took place. You should have just built an execution chamber for him. Beautiful country, hopefully now on the mend.

Sniper's Alley still there with the bullet holes and the facade of the Hilton (?) hotel. But the people I met were amazing and they must have been through hell. I've got a lovely framed script describing children's human rights produced by local schoolchildren. I subsequently read the book 'The Cellist of Sarajevo' by Steven Galloway but I read that the real cellist is upset by the novel.
SuperMikey Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 I was too young at the time to know about what was going on in that region, but know enough about it now to say that no punishment is too severe for the c*nt. Man's inhumanity to man is something that I will never understand.
RedFear Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 great news and not before time the things that he and his army are guilty of dont bare thinking about and all so recently on our own doorstep i read the book Postcards from the Grave, but had to give it up half way through as each and every page was just utter dispair on a lighter note, as far was war goes, this one probably involved people with the coolest names

Special K Posted 26 May, 2011 Share Posted 26 May, 2011 Sadly taken too long to find this vile bastard, although glad it's happened. I spent all to brief a time in Bosnia, but it's a fantastic place, from the mountains of Jahorina to Mostar to Blagaj to Banja Luka. If anyone has ever thought that what happened in Germany during the 1940's couldn't happen in modern europe, then read The Graves by Eric Stover and look at the photos taken by Gilles Peress in the same book. I did whilst waiting in Sarajevo airport for a flight. Life changing moment.
