Official attendance was 73,476

- Carlisle failed to sell out their allocation of 24,506 and I doubt there where many neutrals at the game like with the FA Cup or League Cup final.

- Saints probably had over 50,000 of the 73,476 (even though it was officially 44,000 Saints fans).

There would have been many more Saints fans there if Wembley had listened to Saints' ticketing plan and allowed Saints to bring their own stewards.

I seem to remember a thread on this at the time. Around 51,000 according to a source at Wembley. There were Saints fans in the club wembley seats, and some in the Carlisle end.

Wembley personnel said that there were 55,000 Saints fans. I had tapped up a mate with Club Wembley membership and thought that we would be sat on our own as our seats were not in a general release section, amazingly we were surrounded by Saints fans who had no doubt used the same initiative.

If the FL had accepted Nicola's proposal to supply and fund additional stewards in return for selling as many tickets as possible to fill the gaps it would have been fascinating to know just how many fans we would have taken!

I counted 53,456 but I'm not sure above the guy in block 51 seat 346 as he had a Chelsea shirt on.

That was Pride of the South, it's ok, he's a Saints fan.

No reason to disbelieve the 55k figure, we had most of the Club Wembley seats in addition to selling out the allocation.
