Should go like this

Fine 2weeks wages.

Call back early for training, If he fails to turn up fine another 2weeks wages

Make him train with the kids

Drag out his transfer till the last minute so it takes him a while to bed in at new club.

Oh don't worry, Cortese is no mug and will see to screwing him over a little i'm sure.

Seemed devoid of ideas and confidence yesterday. Barely ran at the defence and his pass completion rate must have been appalling. The chap that replaced him caused United more problems in fifteen minutes than Puncheon had in the previous 75. I was actually disappointed that he hadn't done much when in the shop window.

Obviously has talent, unfortunately an even bigger ego and pretty flakey to go with it.

Am I right in saying that he was getting stick for bad performances at SMS before his fall out with Adkins? I seem to remember some fans saying this was the case. If so, it's hardly surprising he's giving us some stick.

Spot on - apart from his involvement in the goal, thought he had a poor game yesterday. Shame because while I think the guy has a sh*t attitude, I wanted him to do well so we can make some decent money. Yesterday, didnt seem to have same amount of time on the ball that others had -a mark of quality- and looked scared to use it when he was in possession. Did track back, though.

Playing Devil's advocate, does anyone else recall Puncheon's attitude to us changing at about the same time he was booed, coincidence and a lesson for us as supporters?

With respect, if i see a dog sh1t on my lawn i dont sit back and think "i wont shout at it because it might sh1t on my lawn". I have never boo'd any saints player but i have shouted at a lot of dogs.

didn't get in the team ahead of Lallana and Oxo...was surplus to requirements at a L1 club...not quite sure why he has a big ego because this is fact! Lallana and oxo are better, fact, so 0 1 2 1 do one and get us a mil or so to spend on someone who would value being in a squad with fantastic fans, facilities, prospects and vision.

Thanks for a few goals but the money we spent on your wages really does make me sad!!

I can't believe we all listened to the same interview. The bloke said nothing wrong about us. I have never understood the hatred some of our fans have over JP. He played well for us under AP, struggled under NA, crowd got on his back, manager didn't fancy him, has since been loaned to a Millwall and Blackpool and did well at both.

most of the posters on this thread seem unable to think for themselves, please relisten to the interview, an honestly tell me where he said anything derogatory Saints related

This. Need to make sure with the last 2 points that he doesnt have a bad influence on those around him though.

Reckon he should be made to train alone.

Puncheon was just on talksport. Sounded like an absolute ****! Basically saying he was too good for saints and has proved Adkins wrong. Wants to play in the prem but obviously isn't going to happen with saints. The way he said it was like a dig. I hope a big prem club buys him then we'll see how good he really is! He wouldn't last 5 mins at a club like Newcastle or Everton, just get lost in the reserves. At the end of the day he wasn't even a regular starter for a poor Blackpool! ****!

suggest anyone new to thread has a listen, he doesn't say the things in first post! The interviewing says you have proved people wrong for example, and he says football is all about opinions and you have to take it on the chin!

Clearly doesn't fit in, and we are going to get rid but nothing wrong with his interview

What a complete overreaction on this thread after having listened to it.

Seriously, LISTEN to the interview!

He said himself that people in football have different opinions, but he also went on to say that he "loved the dressing room and the players".

For whatever reason, his face doesn't fit at the club with management. It's a shame but at the end of the day I have 100% faith in NA and NC that they will do what is best for the club.

I, unlike most mongs, actually listened to the Interview. Not one bad word said about saints.

Agreed. Think he actually comes across quite well. Seems pretty sure he's not coming back here, but then i'm sure he's also been made aware by Adkins that he's not needed. I hope he goes on to do well.

his attitude seemed to stink while he was here but i thought he was a good player and proved hes a top championship player by playing well in the premiership in a few games but i feel chambo is going to be better and lallana is also better.

Also just listened to the interview - agree that he said nothing wrong - merely just said he would like to stay in the Premiership. Not a bad word about Saints, if anything, he was complimentary.

Clearly, something's not worked out for him here - and that's fine, hope we get maximum money for him and hope he goes on to do well.

Just listened to it... didn't think he said anything too controversial other than hinting at he got a bit of stick when he played here - which was true?

Does that mean that a lot of people are commenting on here without having listened to the interview. I simply cannot believe it :o

As I've said before on this forum, people are always ready to slag off the non-white guy without giving him a chance. It's a sad depiction of our society.

Absolute complete and utter ******. The sad depiction of our society is people creating racial tension or agendas where they really don't exist..... trying their hardest to squeeze the race card in at all costs.

Pathetic

This. DPS has some sort of bizarre agenda to drive as he has mention this several times this season, very odd i must say.

Yeah, I've never been entirely comfortable with the frequency with which labels such as 'lazy', 'unreliable', 'arrogant', 'bad attitude' get hung around the necks of non-white players. There's too long a history of this kind of insidious (albeit in places perhaps unthinking) stereotyping for it to be allowed to pass entirely unacknowledged. Not saying it's necessarily the case here, but I believe it is unavoidably the case that you have to think doubly hard before throwing those kind of terms around if you don't want to just end up contributing to the reinforcement of an entirely pernicious history.

Too good to play regularly for a promotion chasing team in League 1 on the way to the CCC on form, but perfectly good enough to warm the bench and occasionally start for a poor 'Premiership team' (laughing as I say that) on bad form, fighting relegation on the way to the CCC.

End result, failure and playing in the CCC, as opposed to success and playing in the CCC.

Have they been booed? I'd say not. At the end of last season Puncheon, although people thought he was ****, was racking up the goals and assists. People then decided to turn on him. When Rickie Lambert was off form, people tried to encourage him, not boo him. Why was that any different?

JUst out of interest, how many of you still think Antonio is better than Puncheon?

I'd like Antonio back on the basis that he had (to me at least) the potential to be much better than Puncheon. I reckon Puncheon has got about as good as he is going to get, Antonio is still young and only two seasons out of non-league and looked like he had bags of potential even if he is not as polished as Puncheon yet. If nothing else Antonio's kick and sprinit style was very exciting to watch.

Nope Pulis was ****. As is Forecast. Puncheon is decent, but people decided to boo him cos he was black. As was Nathan Dyer, as was BWP, as is Guly. All had their boo boys.

Either you are on a wind up or are f*cking mental.

Oxo is black, as was Theo and everyone lurves them. BWP and Dyer robbed some poor girl in a nightclub they deserve whatever boos they got. Jones was black and popular and Wright despite putting his all into every performance was often booed. I'm not saying there aren't idiots who would willingly boo black players just that they're in the minority, (at Saints anyway.)

Errr sorry - but once again, no. The only colour I see when I watch Saints is Red and White - I don't see the colour of the players skins, I see the shirt - it's that simple. And yes, I do sometimes label them 'lazy', 'unreliable', 'arrogant' - sometimes even worse, but I do so because the game they play is an emotive one - and they, when they wear the 'Red and White' represent me, the fan.

So yes there are some real lazy, unreliable, arrogant players who are black, and they will be told as much by the crowd, as will the white, yellow, brown, blue and orange players. You seem to imply that there are racial overtones here, sorry, but as I said before, I (and I suspect most other fans) see shirt colours when I watch football - not skin tones.

Were you at a game when any of this happened? Did you either confront the individuals or report it?

I'm guessing a "no" to at least the second question...

I didn't hear a lot wrong in that interview, I thought Puncheon was brilliant for us Jan-May 2010 and totally wretched for us Aug-Oct 2010 but clearly he doesn't fit in with the management's direction of travel and ethos for whatever reason so its best that he is allowed to move on and we'll use that money towards a new centre half or forward. I don't wish the guy ill and as long as he doesn't score against us I wish him all the best wherever he goes, probably to a fellow NPC club.

I think JP answered the leading questions very well - All players don't connect with all managers , Maybe NA was trying to motivate him through a lack of form using OXO and he couldn't cope with the fact . Nothing derogatory in that interview what so ever, I think some people really do need to get a life - just because someone indicates their desire to move job
